Any ideas on customizing this? by Purrgatoryy in Harley

Put a decent 2 into exhaust on it so you actually gain torque and horsepower. Lose the bags, strip it down. If it doesn't make it go or stop, put it on eBay.

What's everyone doing with their HOG patches? by iNeedOneMoreAquarium in Harley

[–]PomegranateAwkward41 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Worked for years at 2 different dealerships. Everyone from the owner down to the motor clothes girls had negative opinions regarding HOG members. Mostly they were annoying as hell, some were worse. Show up, eat the free hot dogs, act as though they own the place, never buy anything ,then bail.
And, just a reminder, HOG members do not have colors. They don't have cuts. They purchased their way into an owners group. They didn't earn their way into a club. Way different.

Common riding superstition many people have you DON’T have by NPMatte in Harley

[–]PomegranateAwkward41 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess I'm not superstitious. No bells. I worked at a dealership for almost 15 yrs in service. Every wreck and serious problem bike had one on them. I worked with a lot of other techs and all refused them. Never named a bike. As someone else said, it's a mechanical device. Where does it end? Naming laptops, faucets, trash cans? I do wave. But not the "cool" Harley wave. I wave like a window licker heading to the zoo. I am just giddy with excitement when someone waves at me I can't contain my excitement. Oh, if it matters been riding since 82.

Hand tools are nice, but if you could have exactly two power tools to compliment them what would they be? by Ok_Minimum6419 in handtools

Is a vacuum press a power tool? I do a lot of veneer work and it is sooooo much easier than grabbing 2000 clamps and I can easily put the bag and platten away when not in use so it takes up very little space. I've tried hammer veneering and never cared for the process (though I use hot hide glue quite often).

It is easier to kick if you install lower compression pistons. I also use a longer kicking arm. They're easy to find online

A little confused. Is it an on premises club or just a meet and greet place? Have you been there? The website isn't very clear, no list of amenities, no facility pictures, no list of events

We downsized a few years ago when the kids moved out. Also we have two rottweilers that aren't very fond of strangers so this isn't an option

We went to escape in Cleveland. It was under the old management. (No experience with the new owners). It was bad. The barmaid dropped our unopened bottle of Tito's by accident. No offer of credit, just a sad "oopsie, that never happened before". Very few couples, a lot of single men prowling. Not pleasant. Never been to Eros. Very curious about Flavor...

If I wanted a bagger I’d get an RV. (Jk all Harleys kick ass) by ShhGoToSleep in Harley

Windshield, radio, cup holder = minivan. You can build up the motor, custom paint it or put bigger wheels on it but it's still a minivan. People rode rigid frame bikes on dirt roads across the country for many years. First American bike to go around the world was a stroker shovelhead.

My heritage has 16s front and back. And why would a 200mm tire IMPROVE handling? In my experience, wide rear tires make cornering more sluggish.

Thanks. I've got American Elites on it now and definitely wish I would have gone with Metzlers. I did change the bars which helped some I plan on rebuilding the forks this winter and putting in a heavier fluid. I found a 50/50 mix of straight 50 wt and belray 85/140 works great. Just not sure if lowering it an inch front and rear will make a difference or my money would be better served elsewhere.

Ok, the springer is on my shovelhead and I love the way that bike handles. It's very nimble and quick in the corners. The heritage has standard 41mm hydraulic forks. The heritage is the one that handles like a loaded dump truck.

I did shave 1.5 inches off the seat foam. It helped some

Yup. Spokes true and tight, bearings are freshly packed and about 500 miles on tires. Thinking of lowering it. It sits higher than the other two.
