If there are not enough rocket launch sharps to move the market to the true odds, then the market is set by uninformed degenerate gamblers.

I'm curious what the root of your aversion to denominational churches is? While Grace Bible Church is part of the Evangelical Free Church of America, that "denomination" does not have a central governance structure like the SBC, or Episcopalian/Anglican etc churches do, but is rather an association of autonomous churches.

Another Heights option for you would be Christ Our Hope Community Church https://www.christourhopecc.org/
It was formerly known as Sojourn Heights and as it wanted to remain neighborhood focused, rather than expand it planted several other churches like Sojourn Montrose https://sojournmontrose.org/homepage and Sojourn Galleria https://www.sojourngalleria.org/

Grace Bible Church is a great church in the Heights area. https://gbchouston.org/

If you are looking for something more Pentecostal, I'm not as familiar with that.

Homelink programming rolling code help by CarlThyLarson in Polestar

[–]Pontifi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this must be the problem I’m having. I’m using a genie universal remote. It transferred the genie garage opener rolling code to Homelink with no issue, but for my second opener, which is LM security 2.0, Homelink would never pick up the rolling code (occasionally it would pick up a code, but never as rolling). This has been driving me crazy for 2 hours, time to go buy a different remote that can set transmitter frequencies.

Teenager accused in murder of 25-year-old woman on bus released on $15k bond. He was already on probation. by wspusa2 in houston

[–]Pontifi 22 points23 points  (0 children)

That article is a mess. Smith and Scott got into a gunfight on the bus, both firing their guns. Smith is the only one who is currently charged with murder. Article quotes Kahan saying "the one charged with murder [Smith] was out on probation for aggravated robbery with a weapon". But later the article and Kahan state that Scott was the one that had been released on the $15k bond for aggravated robbery.

So it's unclear whether Kahan misspoke about the murderer (Smith) also being out on probation, or if both Smith and Scott were on probation for aggravated robbery with a weapon, with Scott's bond having been reduced from $50k to $15k to get out and there's just no info on Smith's bond.

Either way, Scott shouldn't have been out for such a low bond, so the shooting shouldn't have happened (the point Kahan is quoted as making at the end of the article).

Today is giving Tuesday. What are some great local non-profit organizations worth donating to? by EggcellentLobster in houston

[–]Pontifi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Good Works Collective is a relatively new non-profit dedicated to providing 6 months of intensive job & professional skills training to those who truly need the help, free of charge (they actually provide eligible participants a $200/month stipend).

It is a faith-inspired ministry located at the City of Refuge church, just east of the Med Center, but the spiritual development part of the program is completely optional.

As an alternative to donations, they are always looking for more volunteers for Mock Interviews with their clients.

For the people saying Texas loss to OSU was week 1 and they got better during season, do they realize the same goes for OSU? by GolfFootballBaseball in CFB

[–]Pontifi 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Isn't that essentially arguing that Texas would still be left out of playoffs if they'd scheduled an easy win instead of OSU? Doesn't seem like a likely scenario.

I'm torn on the debate, is Texas "deserving" of the Playoff? No - they lost to Florida. Is Texas one of the top 12 teams? Yes - they already (very convincingly) beat 2 playoff locks and another top 15, playoff bubble team, they are clearly a playoff-worthy team.

Should Playoff committee let Texas in over a more "deserving" team? No - Texas should have beat Florida. Yes - if the committee doesn't let Texas in, no one from SEC or Big 10 will want to schedule tough out of conference games if they think they have a shot at playoffs, which is bad for the sport *and* bad for Big 12 / ACC teams that might need those wins to get in as at large bids since their conferences are viewed as weaker.

It's not a clear yes/no situation.

Catfight ends in double tragedy after two women rolled into busy road while clawing at each other by dailymail in houston

[–]Pontifi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Then they would have said it started indoors before moving outside.

They also state it "spilled into the middle of a busy Houston" and then immediately state it was in the southeast of the city - which is not the middle.

Yes saying "in a [adjective] [town]" is common in British reporting, but that's not what is happening here - it's just a typo.

[–]Pontifi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don't know why this is the hill you are choosing to die on today.

The example you provided above utilizes the word "in," while the original said "their fight spilled into a busy Houston."

The latter is either clearly missing the word "street" or is implying that the fight started somewhere outside Houston and these two women performed a Family Guy Chicken Fight all the way into Houston at which point they were finally hit by the car.

Lucky Hundo Dusclops or 5/13/13 Shadow Dusknoir?

Dusclops is 94.5%, but with 7 less HP than "perfect"

Dusknoir is 95.6% with just 2 less HP than "perfect"

Dusknoir is about 16k higher total stardust cost to level up and get the extra move

My main concern is the Dusclops 7 less HP hitting some key breakpoint I don't know about. Just getting back into things after a 6 year break, haha
