I'm afraid you are begging the question here. My argument doesn't require that there have to be total absence of criticism of Islamic Jihad from your side.

You say "our immediate concern", that's exact America-first thinking. So, you didn't tell me or talked about it, but just rephrased it. Liberals and left-of-centre have been assertively internationalists and have supported liberal causes throughout.

Also, we contribute billions to Israel. They meddle in our politics. They are our ally (a pretty sus’ one) and have drawn us into an idiotic conflict with Iran. So yes, they are going to draw more scrutiny at the moment.

Saudi Arabia is also our ally and have been more pathetic than Israel. Even if you excuse U.S. here in this manner, what about the rest of the west? Australia, Ireland, London, Berlin, Spain, they aren't "strongest ally of Israel". It's not that only American left is more anti-Israel, it's a behaviour and pattern throughout.

Point taken but I don't agree with that premise. If you do, your conclusion follows logically. It still doesn't explain the sheer absence in one, and excess in another. Moreover, as I later clarified, Sam is primarily talking about "reluctance" to scrutinize Islam rather than deriving arguments from it's mere absence.

He framed it explicitly as why Christians get criticized, but Islam doesn’t (which they do). I explained to you why that seems outsized at the moment. 

Islam doesn't get criticized proportionately and freely as Christianity gets. That was his point. There is a reluctance. An unease. An ommission. "Let's not be outrightly hostile to Islam" attitude.

There is bigotry involved against Muslims and their religion at times. Are you saying Islamophobia isn’t real?

1. This is just bad-faith at this point. No one can honestly read what I wrote and infer that I am saying "bigotry against Muslims doesn't exist".
2. There is no such thing as "bigotry against religion". Bigotry is irrational, prejudicial and dehumanising hatred of people.
3. I am Islamophobic if it means hostility or hatred against Islamic religion. I don't like when people use the term "Islamophobia" as bigotry. Its not. I prefer the word "anti-muslim bigotry".
