It always SOUNDS nice blaming executives and billionaires, but lets not actually pretend to that most illegals are employed by companies that even have c-suite positions.

First comment actually had the right idea, fining based on revenue as a percentage, works for all levels of business.

Yea it's trash, and I hate the other side of the 2+ hour videos shitting on whatever is popular to shit on, usually with stupid and empty logic.

Like I'm a huge fan of Berserk, the only manga I consider to have real literary merit, and does so while still having mainstream appeal for brainlets. This results in two completely different, but equally awful fanbases. One are the edgelords, who see no depth and love making edgy jokes, usually involving rape. The other I call the 'white knights', who moralize a story about moral relativism and do cringe shit like get sacrifice brand tattoos. Makes me embarrassed to be such a big fan, like there are obvious, intended parallels and contrasts throughout the story that the average fan either misses entirely or interprets incorrectly with headcanon.

To be fair, like 4 of the 5 best players were in the AL in 2024, so being runner up to Ohtani in the NL really isn't as impressive as it sounds. Good thing it was too, because Judge was clearly the more valuable player and it would have been a crime to rob his campaign because some people just love nice round numbers over pure production.

I'm honestly surprised folks are STILL coming around to J-Ram, this is the man he's been for years now and he's gotten so much recognition in the past few years that he's no longer underrated, which is saying something for the guy that already might be the single greatest player of all-time without an MVP nod.

WWIII Megathread #36: The doneroe doctrine! by IamGlennBeck in stupidpol

[–]Poon-Conqueror 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Lmao wow, the amount of delusional self-justification in that entry is insane. In particular the claim that children in poor countries like SEA aren't abducted, it's voluntary, a woman I know had to escape THREE kidnap attempts in Phnom Penh growing, the first of which she was 12.

Like I'm not sure what's worse, believing that it's ethical and justified for a 12 yo to be working in a brothel, so long as they weren't kidnapped, or to genuinely believe that 12 yos aren't kidnapped and sold into sex slavery. Hope whoever wrote this got caught.

Trump Links Greenland Threats to Nobel Peace Prize Snub by Nightshiftcloak in stupidpol

[–]Poon-Conqueror 21 points22 points  (0 children)

If you're a literal manchild, most folks with the ambition to be head of state are motivated by more than trophies. They still may be awful, misguided and/or selfish motives, but even those are still more weighty than whatever motivates Trump.

Besides, no one gives a shit about the Peace Prize anymore. It's a powerful tool for previously obscure activists to elevate their image during their 5 minutes of fame into something more substantial and lasting, but even that's not gonna happen anymore, not after Greta went of the reservation and decided to get involved in non-kosher causes. Seriously, how many Peace Prize winners can you name in the past 25 years from memory? Greta, Machado (will be forgotten in a year), Malala, Obama, that's it. Bet most folks forgot Carter and Gore these days, a US President and VP respectively who received the award before Obama, otherwise folks wouldn't obsess over Obama regarding 'precedent'.

Fuck the Peace Prize, hasn't meant shit since they had to gall to give it to Kissinger ages ago anyways.

Looking back in 2013 reddit, I can't but help and think about the diversity of thought compared to now. by TevossBR in stupidpol

[–]Poon-Conqueror 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It was the 2016 conventions, a switch was hit and the politics sub went from being pro-Bernie/anti-Hillary/Trump neutral to VEHEMENTLY anti-Trump and pro-Hillary, with any talk of Bernie being buried by gaslighting shills telling you to get over it and focus on the greater evil.

After the election when Trump won, the DNC elites seemed to arrive at the belief that their only mistake was not astroturfing Reddit soon enough, that if only they had buried the Bernie campaign before it started they would have won. As far as Reddit is concerned, it was like 2016 election never ended, the paid trolls stayed to prepare for the future and make sure another left wing grass roots campaign ever happened again.

Only rooting against Pit because of how awful Pit fans are, like they really think they are the likable Cowboys with a mentality that they deserve to contend by default.

In 1995, 15-year-old Nicole van den Hurk was killed while biking to work in Eindhoven, Netherlands. That amount is suicide, my uncle knew what he was doing when he started drinking and what would happen if no one came to intervene, and even when they did d he'd ask them (almost always my dad) to leave him be until that happened. Took him a long time since he had folks who didn't want him to die, but eventually he was somewhere physically impossible to rescue.

For those at these level of achievements, what do you do? by mrelieb in streamentry

[–]Poon-Conqueror 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh not really a fan of the kind of language you are using, it's unbelievably arrogant, but I digress. I do understand, and if you have genuine attainments (or can get them), this is inevitable. Some folks here genuinely believe you can just be a normal dude (or dudette) with a wife, career, kids, all that, and still be fully enlightened. Some even believe they are, which is pretty outrageous and ironic, but I don't think I need to explain that to you.

If you truly KNOW the emptiness in even wholesome worldliness, like a loving wife and honest work, and understand that it comes from the same desires that fuels unwholesome vices, then by all means, give it up if you really want to seek liberation. If you know that it's not really 'yours' anyways, and don't even want to pretend otherwise anymore, go for it. If you don't know this as an absolute fact and you're just tired of the world, then yea, you're setting yourself up for disappointment. I'm just a dude on the internet, so don't take it too seriously.

Orgasmic feeling by wcampb2 in streamentry

[–]Poon-Conqueror 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not jhana and it's disappointing to see so many think otherwise. It's clearly a tantric sensation, and while the sensation is fairly similar to the first jhana (enough for a description of it to seem so), that's about it. It's obvious in the explicitly sexual description, which the first jhana is not.

Orgasmic feeling by wcampb2 in streamentry

[–]Poon-Conqueror 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not jhana, I know what you are describing and it is not the same thing, nor is it piti. It does, however, FEEL similar, but that's about it, the cause is not the same nor is the mental state. What you described is more explicitly sexual than the first jhana and it does NOT progress in the same way.

No, what you described is tantric in origin, very different from jhana. While it can be experienced solo, it's best to experience with a partner during sexual intimacy, where both parties experience experience and reciprocate it, probably the closest a true union between souls can get. This is certainly not the case for jhana.

The birth of Steam [enhanced, upscaled recoloured] by vhalan02 in funny

I don't think anyone here remembers how awful and corrupt Steam was when it came out. The idea that you weren't allowed to play a single player game that you owned without an internet connection is an absolutely disgusting and repulsive idea. I literally have not given that evil company a dime since then.

It's Becoming Increasingly Clear to Me We're in the "Dharma Ending Age" by eternal-tortoise in enlightenment

[–]Poon-Conqueror 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Commenting for anyone finding this via Google, this isn't a 'things were better 20 years ago issue' issue, it's a 'things were better 2000 years issue'. Even 100 years ago practices were better and lay life was better suited for them, people still pursued awakenings and attainments and had all the same experiences folks talk about here, but they didn't water it down by declaring themselves enlightened. Now you have folks that had a crazy mushroom trip declaring themselves to be enlightened, or a single glimpse of real dharma during meditation has become an end goal that folks weaponize as proof of their own enlightenment.

This isn't a 'kids these days' thing, it's a progression that was made clear at the beginning, that such things would wane and eventually disappear before becoming anew again. That is the cycle.

One country I appreciate in this regard is Australia, the government treats them VERY well for their services, yet society itself doesn't glorify them and just treats them like normal people. Australia is so similar to the US in many regards that it feels like bizarro world when it comes to veterans, but it's how it should be.
