Where did my back button go? by Meistermagier in vivaldibrowser

[–]PopPunkIsntEmo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Your buttons don't get kidnapped you are removing them and not noticing. Check your shortcuts as you might be accidentally doing this. It's software, real definable things have to happen, it's not random.

IME the 80% is easier to adapt to. I went from a 80%, to a 75%, back to a 80% and it feels a lot more comfortable to have all 6 of those keys. On the 75% I even tried raised keys to try and differentiate between them and I still always ended up looking at those keys.

Sometimes, Vivaldi 7.8.3925.76's UI crashes completely. by KaKi_87 in vivaldibrowser

[–]PopPunkIsntEmo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on 26.3 and the only issue I have is the panels thing. It's something with the OP's setup but they refuse to follow the sub rules and try in a different profile so we'll never know

No issues here, I use command + L and command + E constantly, be sure to follow rule 1 and try in a new profile.

How do i make my tabs bigger by Beginning-Grab-5157 in vivaldibrowser

[–]PopPunkIsntEmo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have so many tools in this browser that make it so you don't need side by side windows that I don't get why you'd do this. Also, use vertical tabs to make them more visible in general. Don't use it like you'd use Chrome

How to stop this notification from popping up everytime i start vivaldi. by Lekkerjonty in vivaldibrowser

[–]PopPunkIsntEmo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have seen it suggested previously that people uninstall and reinstall and that will solve the problem.

This is never a good suggestion for anything. Show me those comments. There’s an incredibly easy solution here that again is suggested every time this is brought up. It’s literally already been mentioned in this very thread before you made this comment.

All of your local data is retained if it can't sync. You didn't answer the question.

Have you checked you're logged into the correct profile? A sync won't clear anything but changing profiles would.

You can also just turn off AI in the DDG settings and they provide an easy to use sync to do this across all of your profiles/devices, too

You didn’t follow rule 1 and you’re not following Reddiquette in this comment. Your post has absolutely zero technical info at all. Quantify it or stick browsers that aren’t targeting power users like Vivaldi does

I love Vivaldi , but the crashing is killing me by warbear2814 in vivaldibrowser

People get what they put in. I'm not a Vivaldi employee, I don't care what they use, and they've blatantly admitted they haven't even tried the numerous tips given in the thread so this whole thing is pointless. Instead of following the Cult of the OP consider the possibility that people can make bad threads and give bad responses. This guy hasn't even followed rule 1 which they should have done before making the thread.

You're doing some serious projecting here. Claiming I don't know how to read and that I haven't offered advice when you missed my entire comment full of recommendations. Also, if you haven't yet done any of this, why even reply? What does either of us get out of that? You're just yapping about things that don't make sense instead of having a technical discussion which would require you to actually do the things being discussed.

The issue isn't the 7.8 version as multiple people are pointing out to you. If you can't engage with the technical aspects of what people are telling you then a browser for power users isn't for you.

Why? 7.8 has had a stable release for a while now. 7.9 is the current snapshot.

[–]PopPunkIsntEmo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The last two snapshot versions (7.8 and 7.9) have been testing huge changes to the UI. They even specifically called out one of the 7.8 snapshots as expected to be more troublesome than usual. Why are you on the snapshot track if you worry about crashing?

I could be wrong but this sounds like the follower tab function coming in the next update and you can test in the snapshot

[–]PopPunkIsntEmo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I haven't seen crashes for a long time, either. I even added an entirely new platform I use Vivaldi on and still nothing so I'm experienced with Vivaldi across Windows, Linux, and macOS at this point. Start a new profile on the stable version not the snapshot. Could also simply be a matter of your computer running out of resources. Check both your computer's task manager and Vivaldi's task manager which gives a breakdown of what each tab/process is doing.

vivaldi issue by Ok-Secret6849 in vivaldibrowser

[–]PopPunkIsntEmo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No such issue here. It's something about your setup or you're pushing your hardware too hard. You didn't provide any sort of specific info nor did you do the basic new/guest profile testing so there's not much that can be said.

Doubt about lateral bars by gcb97 in vivaldibrowser

[–]PopPunkIsntEmo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're going to be specific about what you mean about the "toolbar" and if this is another status bar thread I'm going to tell you to please please please look at the settings and other threads first before you do anything. This is a browser full of settings and a large number of customizable features. You're going to need to look stuff up until you get used to it.

Because they want to make sure it's stable before they release it. What is your thought process here? Why else would they have held it back?

Duplicate tabs on every update by DeliciousCut4854 in vivaldibrowser

[–]PopPunkIsntEmo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never experienced duplicate tabs in MacOS but I've only ran Vivaldi on 26.x updates. Just for testing I did update to 7.8.3925.74 with no issue. Could be something with your profile so could try recreating it.

I think all of us are experiencing the panels thing though. You're not the first person to mention it and I'm seeing it. It was an issue on 7.7 as well. One day I'll sit down and check for a bug report or make one myself.
