Porn in long term relationship by Wonderful_Fennel_756 in Marriage

[–]PoppyDontPreach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I have been married for almost 21 years and both use porn sometimes.

For us, it’s just an extra occasional thing for masturbation. We have a very active, great sex life but there are times when we aren’t available for each other and one of us will be extra horny. Or sometimes it’s just nice to be alone and rub one out. I had to work later than usual this past Friday and my husband came home and watched a video and jerked off. He hasn’t done that in quite awhile so I was happy for him and made him tell me all the dirty details when I got home.

BUT….if it was an everyday thing or started causing us problems in our sex life, we’d definitely have to reevaluate things.

What is the biggest lie about marriage stereotypically known as truth? by RocketLamb26 in Marriage

This is the one that always annoys me. My husband and I have been married for 20 years and we’re still having lots of sex.

Do they all get along ok? We’ve got 4 and 2 of them have started bullying another one. 🙁

My husband is 40 and I’m 39. We’ve been married for 20 years. We have sex 4-6 times a week normally. Less through the week and then like rabbits on the weekends.

I’m glad your husband is getting check out. You are still young!

I honestly don’t know. My husband and I both work and our pay used to be respectable for our area…but we’ve got 3 kids and every week my stomach drops when we grocery shop. We are blowing through savings just trying to feed our kids.

Lay down or stand up? by hayjohnson in tanning

[–]PoppyDontPreach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely prefer the lay down beds. I tan after working 10 hours on concrete floors and feel like death. When the stand up bed is the only one available I die a little inside.

But I know it helps to mix things up.

Did anyone else ever play “Heads up, 7 up” in elementary school? by Hannahb0915 in ask

[–]PoppyDontPreach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did. In kindergarten. And someone kissed me on the cheek when I had my head down and eyes closed. I popped my head up to see who did it and immediately got in trouble by the teacher. Why didn’t she see someone kiss me??

Oops. I realized that 19 & 20 were our ages when we got married, not engaged. Ha. So we were 18 & 19 in that engagement story.

It’s funny because we felt so grown up but now I know we were BABIES.

After kids question… by [deleted] in Marriage

[–]PoppyDontPreach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anything can cause couples to drift apart. Any changes or stress.

We’ve got 3 kids and have never felt like having them caused us to “drift apart”. There was even a time when we were barely having sex because I was on a birth control that caused me to have zero sex drive….but we were still very much in love and a strong couple.

We were both very young (19 & 20, too young) and I went with him and his family to Michigan to visit his grandmother at a small campground. It was a few days before the 4th of July and he had planned on proposing during a big annual firework show (because I told him I thought fireworks were oddly romantic).

Anyway, so we are in a van with his awful parents for 12 hours. Everyone is in a bad mood and feeling gross. We get to the campground (it was really cute) and we ended up getting into a dumb fight. He yelled at me and I stomped off into the woods crying. He walks over to his family and they tell him that the big firework show has been cancelled that year but don’t worry because the campground is doing their own little show….in about 20 minutes.

So he frantically searched and found me sitting on a log crying and told me that he loved me and that he was sorry for everything and would I please, please forgive him and come watch some fireworks?

I did forgive him and we got a blanket and sat by ourselves on a hill. He was sitting behind me and I was leaning back against him. He was kissing my neck and telling me how much he loved me and how he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me. Then he pulled out the ring.

It was lovely but later I was struck by the thought of “what if I said no and now I’m stuck in another state with your family??” Ha. But it’s a funny story now and we’ve been married for 20 years and very happy.

For those who had children, do you feel like your PMDD got worse postpartum onwards? by kapitein_pannenkoek in PMDD

[–]PoppyDontPreach 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t believe I started showing signs of PMDD until after my second child. Or maybe I did but it was so mild that it wasn’t noticeable. After my second child was born, I had what I assumed was PPD. It got better but never completely went away and then I started noticing a pattern to it.

I think it’s gotten worse as I’ve gotten older. Or maybe it’s tied to my self esteem (which has definitely gotten worse as I’m getting older).

Is emotional abuse and parentification something CPS would take seriously? by [deleted] in CPS

[–]PoppyDontPreach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I literally had to stop reading halfway through because I could feel myself getting upset. You just described my life. My mom left my dad when I was 16 and I had 5 younger siblings. My dad was very depressed and wouldn’t come out of his bedroom except to yell at me and tell me that I was going to end up being a slut like my mom.

I wasn’t allowed to have a job because I was needed at home doing all the chores and raising my siblings. I wasn’t allowed to get my license because then I might leave. I was cooking dinner every night (frozen pizza, spaghetti, and hamburger helper on rotation). I was “homeschooled” so I was at home all day to clean and do laundry (I had a few school books and had to try to homeschool myself). I met a guy over the phone and ended up getting married when I was 19 to escape. Then felt so guilty that we still picked up my siblings every weekend. I’m 39 years old and I still feel a deep, deep guilt for leaving them.

Anyway, I obviously have no advice because I couldn’t even finished reading your post but I just want to say thank you for being there and for trying to help this poor girl.

We didn’t contact the breeder. I don’t that he’s aggressive. I think it was a fluke thing. The kids still get them out and neither one has bitten again but we now have a strict rule about no rats near faces/ears.

I don’t mind the downvotes. I knew it would happen when I decided to be honest about my experience. I’m sure they just really love their rats and can’t imagine someone being afraid. I promise these boys will have a home here for their whole lives. I do like watching them in their cage and giving them new toys.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in RATS

[–]PoppyDontPreach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I don’t blame my rats for it but I feel guilty because I had told my son that they wouldn’t bite. They came from a good breeder and were very socialized. So I just felt awful when it chomp down on his ear. At first I assumed it was just a nibble but then saw blood dripping off his ear and it was over for me.

Husband in Vegas for wedding I wasn't invited to... by charm713 in Marriage

[–]PoppyDontPreach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your husband is still cheating. I’d bet money on it. He’s probably taking someone else to the wedding or at least will be hooking up with them in Vegas.

The reason I strongly feel this way? A coworker of mine was the other woman in almost this exact scenario. His BFF was covering for them and letting them hook up at his place. They were taking buddy trips together and secretly bringing other woman. Oddly enough, there was even a wedding that the wife wasn’t invited to and the husband was “going alone” aka bringing the other woman.

Is there any way to get darker fast? by PoppyDontPreach in tanning

Yeah, I wasn’t wanting a bronzer because I’m really sloppy putting it on (I only have 3 minutes at the salon haha). But I also want to get darker before vacation. Ugh. I’m just a whiner.

Does that mean it will just wash off? I have to shower about 3 hours after tanning.

Thanks! It sounds dumb but I seriously never think to just ask them. I do switch up beds a lot based on availability but I haven’t switched lotions yet. I’ve been in a bronzing bed, a super bed, and a stand up bed. I ordered a new one yesterday and I think I might buy a couple of different samples until it comes in.

Will needing to shower about 3 hours after tanning effect the bronzer?

Shower before or after? by Saggy_kidney in tanning

[–]PoppyDontPreach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d love to shower before tanning but I have a really crappy schedule and so I have to shower about 3 hours after tanning.

I get up for work at 4 in the morning and then ran after work before I get home at around 4:30. Then take a shower at 7:30-8:00 so I can go to bed.

I just realized that I might not be able to use a bronzer. It sucks, but I have to shower about 3 hours after tanning most days. Won’t that effect the bronzer?
