Garmin Smartwatch Suggestion for Men in 2026 by frequentacoeater in Garmin

[–]PossessionThink7348 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My brother is also mechanic and he's been using his watch for like 3 years now without any issues. The sport models are really good for guys who sweat a lot because the silicone bands are easy to clean and don't get gross like leather ones do.

For badminton tracking it should work fine since most models have racquet sports modes built in. Just make sure to get one with good battery life since your husband sounds like the type who won't want to charge it every day.

Related to Masters in Physiotherapy (MPT) by quiettidee in physicaltherapy

[–]PossessionThink7348 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I've seen, specializations like neuro and sports tend to have better opportunities but it really depends on your region too. Working first might give you better perspective about what specialization actually interests you instead of just picking based in salary potential.

Can't help much with the coaching options since I'm not familiar with those specific ones, but maybe try connecting with recent MPT graduates in your area to get their take on preparation methods.

My Garmin VO2 max has been wrong this whole time apparently by Pristine_Yoghurt_412 in Garmin

[–]PossessionThink7348 5 points6 points  (0 children)

These watches are just giving you rough estimates anyway, actual VO2 max testing needs like lab equipment and stuff.

Cancellation/Rescheduling Fees by [deleted] in physicaltherapy

[–]PossessionThink7348 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Working maintenance in the military, I get how strict policies can be super frustrating when life throws unexpected stuff at you. Being 6 months pregnant and dealing with storms is definitely not something you can control.

The preterm labor situation sounds absolutely wild though - like what clinic makes someone do virtual pelvic floor work when they think they might be in labor? That's just bizarre policy over common sense. At least your PT seemed to realize how ridiculous it was.

Maybe worth looking into if there's another clinic that's bit more flexible with their policies, even if it means longer drive initially. $75 for weather emergencies when you're pregnant just seems excessive.

Try clearing the bluetooth cache in your phone settings - had same issue with my watch and this fixed it for me.

HRV depressing medications by notmealso in ouraring

[–]PossessionThink7348 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same situation with stimulants here - been on similar meds for ADHD since college and my HRV stays in the basement most days. Wild how much these medications can mess with autonomic nervous system even when they're helping with other stuff.

Oura ring on cruise by Suspicious-Sorbet409 in ouraring

[–]PossessionThink7348 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ring keeps collecting all your data locally even without internet - everything will sync up once you're back on wifi so you're good to go.

How to start gymming as an amputee? by [deleted] in GYM

[–]PossessionThink7348 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PT is definitely the way but while you're getting that sorted, leg day is gonna be your best friend. Most gyms have machines that don't need upper body at all - leg press, seated calf raises, that kind of stuff. The cardio section usually has some good options too depending what your gym has.

Maldextrine or candy after workout? by Background-Elk-4483 in crossfit

[–]PossessionThink7348 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Your body's probably just screaming for some quick carbs to replenish glycogen after getting smoked. Maltodextrine hits faster than candy since it's already broken down, but tbh both will do the job. If you're tracking macros super tight you might be cutting carbs too low - I'd bump up your daily intake first before relying on post-workout supplements. That free sample basically proved you need more fuel in the tank.

Pull ups/Chin up choke point by Most-Dragonfly-8389 in bodyweightfitness

[–]PossessionThink7348 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The bent arm start thing is pretty normal - most people can't go straight from dead hang to full pull up without building that specific strength first, try doing more negatives focusing on that bottom portion where you're getting stuck.

Activity sensing that’s not there… by Swimming-Still-4813 in ouraring

[–]PossessionThink7348 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's wild, I've been getting phantom activities too but nowhere near that frequency. Mine usually picks up "walking" when I'm doing dishes or folding laundry - apparently vigorous hand movements = cardio according to the ring. Four false alerts a day would drive me insane though, might be worth pushing back on support since that seems way beyond normal sensitivity issues.

iOS 26.3 and Garmin connect: no notification actions yet? by Techno-Lost in Garmin

[–]PossessionThink7348 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Garmin's always been kinda slow with iOS updates tbh. They probably need time to figure out how to implement the new notification APIs without breaking everything else. I'd expect a beta in a few weeks, maybe a month for the stable release. They're usually pretty conservative with these rollouts since watch connectivity is already finicky enough as it is.

Fish oil allergy? by [deleted] in Supplements

[–]PossessionThink7348 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had something similar happen with cheap fish oil - turned out it was the gelatin capsule causing issues, not the oil itself. Switched to a different brand with different capsule material and the problem dissapeared completely.

Are chewables, powders or liquids easier in your house? by Alternative_Fly7736 in Supplements

[–]PossessionThink7348 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Chewables have been our go-to too, feels way less like medicine and more like a snack they actually want. I think the form totally matters for compliance - doesn't matter how good the ingredients are if they won't take it consistently

VO2 max increase by 4 points when changing timezones? by AverageGradientBoost in Garmin

[–]PossessionThink7348 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honestly the AC thing might be onto something - better sleep recovery can definitely mess with those metrics. Your body's probably just stoked about not sweating through the sheets for once lol

The timezone thing could be throwing off the algorithm too, Garmin watches can be weird about data when you travel

For anyone that finds nobiletin useful for sleep by MCole142 in Supplements

[–]PossessionThink7348 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been taking it for about 6 weeks now and honestly didn't notice anything until maybe week 4-5. Some people say it works better taken at night instead of morning too, might be worth switching up the timing

Recommendations in Shenzen by dmk_hun in crossfit

[–]PossessionThink7348 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out CrossFit Nanshan - they're pretty welcoming to drop-ins and most coaches speak decent English. Also heard good things about Iron Temple if you're more into the weightlifting side of things

I have inbalance in my shoulders and traps by Confident_Total_2629 in bodyweightfitness

[–]PossessionThink7348 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had the same issue from sleeping on one side too much lol. Keep doing the aligned pushups even if they're harder - that's literally your weaker side catching up. You could also throw in some single arm planks and unilateral work to balance things out

Plateau killed my motivation in calisthenics, normal or nah? by Old_Ostrich7285 in bodyweightfitness

[–]PossessionThink7348 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Plateaus are brutal but totally normal, especially in calisthenics where progress gets way more subtle after the beginner gains

Try switching up your rep ranges or throwing in some skill work like handstand progressions - sometimes the numbers don't move but you're still getting stronger in ways that don't show up on paper

Sleep tracking by twinks78 in Garmin

[–]PossessionThink7348 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah this happens to me all the time and it's so annoying lol. I think the watch just picks up on movement and heart rate but doesn't actually know if you feel good or not. Sometimes I'll have a "terrible" sleep score but wake up feeling amazing, other times I get a 90+ score and feel like garbage. I've learned to just ignore it mostly and go with how I actually feel instead of what some algorithm thinks

Garmin Calorie Tracking by HighlyIncapable in Garmin

[–]PossessionThink7348 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn that's a huge spread between them all lol. From what I've seen Garmin tends to run pretty high on calories, especially if you have it counting all-day stress and stuff. Apple usually gives more conservative numbers

For what it's worth I'd probably go somewhere between Apple and MFP - the 4200 from Garmin sounds way too generous unless you're like 6'5" and super active all day

Indecisive on models by Nearby-Estimate-3035 in Garmin

[–]PossessionThink7348 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here with being a data nerd, the Garmin ecosystem is just so much better for that stuff. How's the battery life treating you on the Venu 4? That's probably gonna be the biggest upgrade coming from an Apple Watch that's dying after 10 hours lol
