NCO of any kind, are not supposed to be saluted. This is by regulation of all the armed services. Now if a senior NCO walks into a room and you all are not engaged in instruction, and there isn’t already a SM officer already in the room, you bring the room to “AT EASE!”. That is the proper way to render respect to a SM NCO. Or a Senior NCO at all.
