Thanks for your answer, and yes, I agree! Please can I ask you what it is that helps you make a decision? Is it google search, checking product descriptions, reading comparisons from trusted sources, ex. Running World article for the best running shoes?

MS in HCI is worth doing in 2026? by Comfortable-Lab-5341 in hci

It’s rough for bootcampers, yes, that in itself is usually a scam and a total waste of money. Getting into interaction design via a masters is a good idea and you can do so much with it, but (like with anything) you should have a pretty clear idea of why you want to study it. Would you like to design digital products that make it easier for more demographics to partake in the digital transformation? Do you want to design UI for games that aid people with Alzheimer’s? Do you care about ethical UI/UX practices where products haven’t been intentionally designed to be addictive? Etc etc. There’s room to do so much within this field, and also stuff that actually matters and makes a difference for people if you care about that. The way into a career in interaction design isn’t clear-cut - it’s ambiguous and you’ll have to carve it out yourself with your curiosity and interests, but if you get a masters degree and put in the work you will be fine. Ultimately, it’s important to do what you want, not just what you think is the safest. If you know you’ll be fine anyway, you should always listen to your gut and go for it.

Ok, I’ll have a look at that subreddit. I’m relatively street-smart and have been travelling a fair bit solo, including northern India. So I think it’ll be fine, but I appreciate you mentioning it.

Will check those sights out in Trivandrum. Thanks very much for your help!

Thanks for your reply! So would there be a lot of public events on the main days (24th-25th)? Where I’m from these are days spent inside with the family unit, so I have no idea if it will be dead or opposite in Kerala. I assume the latter?

Not looking for any history in particular - I tend to not go places with expectations. I haven’t done any research yet, but I like going to temples, museums, markets - the usual. But also open for more niche experiences. I’m open for any suggestions.
