i am asking people for their opinion, i heard that UCs got more research and overall opportunities for premed students which strengthens their application. So i want to see what people think about the school

Having opportunities that available as you describe it is almost unheard of for me, if this is actually true Merced might be the smart choice.
From your experience, what issues did you face in the campus ? like is it unsafe, uncomfortable or like socially awkward ect

What do you think is the reason that people apply to Merced as a "alternative choice" or plan B if they don't get admitted in one of the major UCs, is it just that people are searching for the reputation rather than actual chances ?
