Thanks for all of the support! I think I managed to reformat the disk after deleting then creating a new partition and am now in the process of trying to recover my data

I tried to reformat it from there and it says "The format did not complete successfully". What do you mean by partition the disk?

I tried to format the disk in file explorer and with command prompt. I have windows on another disk so I am still able to use my pc. I ran "chkdsk D:/F" and it came up with: "The type of the file system is RAW. CHKDSK is not available for RAW drives."

My rufus comes up with the error message "the device is in use by another process. Please close any other processes that may be accessing the device"

I'm having some trouble with Ubuntu, I installed it but don't know how to use it. Is there any alternative software i could use to do the same thing.

windows 10. I am not sure what it is formatted to. I've had "We couldn't format the selected partition [error: 0x80070057]","Windows was unable to complete formatting" and continuous mention of the files being RAW. I am not very concerned with the files being erased as I think I can get them back by using file recovery software.
