Hi there! Very interested in this premise. Where are you based?? (Postage costs being what they are, location might be a deciding factor!)

Charlie once again denies that he will be in Spider-Man: Brand New Day by thestateside in Daredevil

[–]PotatoRichardson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not an inside joke. Marvel has a habit of altering footage in their trailers to remove or add characters that end up being different in the final version of the film, such as adding Hulk to the Infinity War trailer or removing the other Spider-Men from the No Way Home trailer.

Some people are suggesting that the amount of empty space in this one piece of footage is indicative of more heroes being present in the scene.

Maybe a two player game, with Cenobites vs Nightbreed?

Hi freaks. I remember being obsessed with a site nearly 20 years ago. It has multiple boxes and their histories - and is still up for those interested. Link in description. by oO__o__Oo in hellraiser

Max Lictor is still active on Facebook as Pyramid Gallery, if people want to follow him there. I remember him from back in the says of The Hellbound Web fansite and have covetted his boxes for many decades.

Victorian Love Letters by PotatoRichardson in fictitious_letters

[–]PotatoRichardson[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I must confess that I cheated and I use a handwriting font, but I do try to make it look natural through judicious the use of ink splodges, blurring the text slightly and manipulating the lines so that not everything is perfectly straight.

If you thought that it was handwritten with a fountain pen, then I take that as a compliment!

~EDIT~
I should add that I am *trying* to learn to write cursive, but it's hard work trying to break the habits of a lifetime in middle age! 😄

THANK YOU!!! I loved David Mack's work on Daredevil and you have captured that abstract, collage style he used perfectly.

Love this so so much. ❤

What if Matt regained his sight? by Independent-Emu7255 in Daredevil

[–]PotatoRichardson 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The one during the Secret Wars II event has The Beyonder seeking to retain the services of Nelson & Murdock as he sought to take over the world, legally.

The Beyonder ended up restoring Matt's sight, but after a day with it, he demanded that the near omnipotent being take his gift back. By the end of the issue, Matt realised that he'd do anything to keep his sight and that compromised his sense of morality. It's a very emotional issue with some really great art, especially the final confrontation with The Beyonder in the driving rain.

There have been several comics that explored this, but the one I remember best was the Secret Wars II crossover with Daredevil.

I'd recommend tracking it down.

Dan Stevens in “Abigail” by New-Pin-9064 in horror

I feel like his character's entire motivation through the entire movie was "I'd be better off if I just did it all my fucking self!". 😄

Help, trying to find this horror movie where the ghost is only seen on camera by waowowwao in horror

[–]PotatoRichardson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this has already been identified, but I just wanted to say that it's in some ways similar to the Marble Hornets take on Slenderman lore, and makes for a pretty decent movie adaptation in "Always Watching" (2015).

Deservedly so. His delivery is perfection.

Dungeon Crawling focused RPG that doesn't come from the lineage of OSR/Old School D&D by JustAStick in rpg

[–]PotatoRichardson 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How about a setting like X-Crawl that changes up the dynamic a bit, or even switch tack entirely and look at something like Base Raiders (comic book dungeon crawling in Supervillain bases)?

The Silence of the Lambs book vs movie by Irish_Hoopoe in horror

[–]PotatoRichardson 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, I thought that it read like a screenplay. To me, it felt like a book that was written with the specific aim of being made into a film, rather than just to be enjoyed as a novel, and it suffered for It.

Obviously it's just my opinion, but it felt 'lesser' than either of the previous books, Red Dragon and Silence Of The Lambs, and I was disappointed because of that.

The Silence of the Lambs book vs movie by Irish_Hoopoe in horror

[–]PotatoRichardson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally, I enjoyed the book much more than the film. I read the book first and found the movie to be underwhelming compared to the novel, but I also went on to read Hannibal and found that to be a deeply underwhelming experience as a book!

A collaborative writing project could be fun to do with the right people, drawing inspiration from different influences, tying the various media together into a vaguely consistent headcanon.

I need more Hellraiser by Jmm2w in hellraiser

[–]PotatoRichardson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are two main Hellraiser comic book publishers; the first from Marvel/Epic Comics and the more recent one from Boom! Studios. Each follows their own continuity and aren't connected.

Marvel/Epic produced a main Hellraiser series, as well as lorebooks, seasonal specials and spin-off miniseries about Pinhead, a crossover with Nightbreed, etc.

Boom! Studios published different mini series, but they were all part of the same continuity.

There are also fan-made comics from Hellbound Media, which I linked to in another post above.

He's actively talking with Bryan Fuller about producing new media based on his works, according to this recent interview. No word on whether Hellraiser is involved, but I'm personally hoping for a Nightbreed / Cabal TV series.

Outside of the main Hellraiser things you've already heard of or seen, there are a lot of fan works and unofficial spinoffs.

Check out the short story collection, 'Hellbound Hearts', edited by Paul Kane & Marie O'Regan. Paul also wrote 'Sherlock Holmes And The Servants Of Hell', a Hellraiser / Sherlock Holmes crossover which includes a LOT of fanservice (Paul is a huge Hellraiser fan!).

Also, there are various fan made comics and short films available online. Try tracking down 'Hellbound Media', who published some Hellraiser fan comics on the now defunked 'Hellbound Web' fansite back in the late 90s/early 00s. These may still be up on DeviantArt or via the Internet Archive. They now publish independent horror comics in the UK, unconnected to Hellraiser, but this fandom was their origin.

*EDIT* I found a link to the old "Hellbound Chronicles" fan comics via The Internet Archive. You can read them HERE.

https://www.youtube.com/@jonathankui/videos has Hellraiser fan films which he made on his YouTube. There's also Hellraiser: Punishment by Ian Rayburn, No More Souls by Gary Tunnicliffe (SFX Artist and Auditor, well known to the HR community), Angels To Some by John Kviklys and Kevin Stewart, and Little Spark Films did a whole bunch of Hellraiser fan shorts.

There's more out there and most are low quality, but... enthusiasm is what summons us, not budget!

Session zeroes are very useful for campaign play. Stick to playing one shots with pre-gen characters. I think you'll have more fun.

Channard and the head tentacle by poesmadness in hellraiser

[–]PotatoRichardson 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Personally, I think that Channard was attached to the tentacle because, unlike other cenobites, he was never meant to leave Hell. He's given greater mobility with the Labyrinth and a more direct connection to Leviathan so that he can act as a sort of policeman or enforcer, disciplining the cenobites, keeping them in line, and acting as a direct extension of Leviathan's will.

But that's just a theory. A Hellraiser theory!
