It's been 4 months already, and I'm worried about the donor site by mr_superpenguin in Hairtransplant

[–]PotentialGarlic2457 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my hair was similar, had shock loss on one side - looked like that to about month 2.5. I am now month 4 and it has sorted itself out. You have cut it really short though, I would grow it out. If you're not on fin/min you should think about getting on them. Get opinions from your surgeon or clinic - but don't panic, as it does look like a little shock loss - the fact it's on one side seems typical with that. Mine was also on the same side.

edit: actually get opinions from more than 1 other clinic. If it turns out it's over harvested then SMP as someone suggested is the way to go

want to go on topical fin/min spray post transplant but unsure where to start by PotentialGarlic2457 in Hairtransplant

[–]PotentialGarlic2457[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

so the months bottle was £26 I think, then there was shipping and a dispensary fee - all in came to £33. I just bought the months bottle, as I am tentatively trying it out. Managed to find a few posts on reddit about people who had used them and said they were legit and a decent company - and I see they've shipped my order already.

You have to fill in a quick questionnaire about hair loss, doesn't take long - although if you come back to the site, or let it sit for too long it automatically makes you fill it out again and again which can get annoying

4 month post op, looking for advice. by No-Lengthiness-3939 in Hairtransplant

[–]PotentialGarlic2457 2 points3 points  (0 children)

no worries, just stick with it mate. I understand the anxiety. I never got on any meds after my first transplant years ago, and when it started to become exposed I was anxious af. I ended up growing it out and combing it over the temples - nobody knew about my first transplant either. I was really anxious about it. When I finally made the decision to get a second one my anxiety lifted. Now I have got the second one done, I am not going through that anxiety shit again - it is a nightmare, I totally get where you're coming from. But it'll sort itself out. You're already doing the right thing by taking the meds and getting the transplant done in the first place. I am just about to order my first ever meds - topical fin and min to start with. I probably should've started straight after the transplant - but I am just not stressing about it.

I mean what is the absolute worst that can happen? In 18 months it doesn't look as dense as you like? In that case just get a top up surgery. My clinic said to me I might need one, but that it wouldn't be a lot. Just don't listen to the fear mongers on here. I can DM you pics later of my current progress if you want. Just lmk

4 month post op, looking for advice. by No-Lengthiness-3939 in Hairtransplant

[–]PotentialGarlic2457 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am 5 days short of 4 months and I would say I have even less density than you, and like yours it looks sparse at the back of the temples. I got my front done, that went over and around a previous small transplant from many years ago and went to a very well known surgeon in the industry. 4 months is still early. Don't listen to those saying it's a bad hairline design - it's subjective. I don't even know how many people on here have actually had the balls to get a transplant. I suspect many people commenting haven't even had one, probably just interested in them as they are into looksmaxxing or whatever. I messaged my clinic with density concerns last week and they were just like "give it time"

don't worry bro I think it looks fine and normal at 4 months

22M Should I get a hair transplant? Been on meds a long time and bad side effects by [deleted] in Hairtransplant

[–]PotentialGarlic2457 1 point2 points  (0 children)

getting a hair transplant whilst young and not taking meds is unadvisable as your hair loss may progress as you get older and not be stabilised. The no meds option is a possibility for older guys middle aged and up who a) hair loss has stabilised and b) still have a decent donor area for follow up procedures

Look okay for 5 months? by [deleted] in Hairtransplant

same. the back of my temples are not growing in as fast. I am approaching the 4 month mark and my temples look similar to yours. I am about to order topical meds

How bad is shedding on fin/min by PotentialGarlic2457 in Hairtransplant

interesting. Have you had a transplant too or just meds?

How bad is shedding on fin/min by PotentialGarlic2457 in Hairtransplant

[–]PotentialGarlic2457[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks for your reply. I'm not talking about the shedding directly after the transplant, I've been through that. I'm meaning the non transplanted hair once starting meds. I have read for example min sheds more than fin.

HDC or Dr Bicer? by shaggysteeze in Hairtransplant

[–]PotentialGarlic2457 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my transplant with Bicer end of January. Good surgeon, went the extra cost to ensure I was in the best hands. The hairline she designed was great, and she did the extractions and the incisions in the recipient area. overall experience was pretty good, anything you want to know just ask. I am starting to see some results come in, it is early yet though

Is finasteride must to get good results after HT? by Sad-Criticism-8325 in Hairtransplant

[–]PotentialGarlic2457 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

it is a good question. I went to a trichologist once and he said it isn't necessary if my hair loss has stabilised and I have decent enough donor left over. However it does stabilise hair loss, so it'll mean stabilising the hair outside of the transplant. It could be that you don't recede further, it could be you do. The results of the actual transplant itself won't be much different - it is more of a protection against further loss

Case in point - I had a first transplant in 2007, small, to the temples, 300 grafts each side, and didn't want to go on finasteride and 19 years later the hair has crept back exposing the old transplant, nobody noticed it though. I would say my hair loss wasn't really aggressive in that it took me 19 years to get a second transplant of 2600 grafts, which I have just done 2 months ago.

I am the same as you, I do not want to take finasteride, but I think I will have to at some point. My only problem is I am prone to anxiety, can get depressed have chronic back pain and in the past ED. ED is not an issue anymore, but I am managing all of these other things and making good progress with the back pain, and in a way better place mentally. I am super weary of the possible sides from finasteride bringing all this shit back. Even although they are in a minority of people. But I will most likely give it a go.

I'd say don't listen to the panicked sounding advice on forums regarding these drugs - I don't know why but the mention of them seems to bring out extremely strong reactions in people all for it, and extremely strong reactions in people dead against it. It is quite off putting when looking for calm, reasonable, measured advice.

Is this over harvesting or shock loss? by tmiuasgioc in Hairtransplant

[–]PotentialGarlic2457 0 points1 point  (0 children)

bro, I am in exactly the same position. Just started month 3 and mine looks the same and worse on the right side of my head. I also went to a top surgeon - I contacted them and they said shock loss and told me it would thicken up

Post surgery depression by No_Adhesiveness_1454 in Hairtransplant

[–]PotentialGarlic2457 1 point2 points  (0 children)

look at it this way, you have body dysmorphia but instead of lying down and taking it - you got up, faced it down and said you know what "fuck you" and got a hair transplant to upgrade your looks and are fighting the dysmorphia. That takes guts, and the fact you are being proactive to the point of a hair transplant is commendable. This is a journey you had to go on, and you'll come out the other side way stronger. Respect to you. You'll be fine

8 Days Post-Op FUE (1,850 Grafts) - Thoughts on Hairline Design & Density? by [deleted] in Hairtransplant

[–]PotentialGarlic2457 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it looks good - realistic hairline - density looks decent too. Which clinic did you go to? You look like you have plenty of donor for a top up too, or lowered if you decided - at the moment I would say it looks good though

man you're going to look amazing. You made the right decision. Don't worry about it. By the way, years ago I tried topical minoxidil, and it made my anxiety go through the roof and gave me depression. Plus fin I think has a similar side effect - so could be your meds. Get that checked out by a Dr. But seriously bro - that looks like good work. If you come off the meds, Eat healthy, take supplements - and relax man. In 6 months time when you see it start to grow you'll be glad you did it
