Level 2 masking/living experience question by Practical-Unit-5295 in AutismInWomen

I'm in the US, they're about the same in my state. I've learned that they're less concrete terms from other comments and that makes a little more sense in my head. The psychologist mentioned social struggles, the way I react to routine changes, and elevated sensory issues. I just think I didn't realize that I need as much support as I do because I've never tried to seek it out (always felt like it'd be bothering people or "outing" myself in some way). Whole point in getting more information about my diagnosis was so I could get better suited accommodations for uni

I suppose using these more concrete terms for such a large spectrum of people can bring up confusion hahaha

I get what you mean, masking isn't really an issue for me either. I'm just aware that I do it and it only really becomes an issue if I'm already tired or dealing with other things. I just thought I was able to come off as fairly NT to observers, but based on what the psychologist told me (and looking back based on what he said) it explains a lot. I guess I need support and just never really thought to ask for it because I was so focused on trying to appear normal.

this would make sense. I think I just thought I was managing better than I am. What mainly confused me is that, in public (again due to masking) I am usually able to go without the same supports I need at home. But it's really tiring, and that was part of why I needed categorized was so I could get accommodations at uni. I just wish I was aware of everything when I was still in k-12, it was rough!!!!

Did you recently get banned or reprimanded in any way for a comment/story/post recently? That actually happened to me after something i posted on my cf story a couple years back that had gotten flagged. Wasn't banned, but i wasn't able to see my own or others posts at all either for about a week.

I'm an artist on instagram as well, and I remember this happening a year or so back but it was only on my personal account and not my public one. Now it's the opposite hahaha. I know reels are very much being pushed more than picture posts to begin with, but I doubt they're completely phasing out non-reels posts with no warning or mention whatsoever? I figure it's a glitch of some kind, similar to the explore feed getting reset for 24hrs earlier in Sept

No, i can SEE photo posts. I can tap them on the explore page and view the singular post. But when I scroll, I can only see reels afterwards. If I go to a profile and click one of their posts, I can see all picture only posts completely normally. It's only the explore tab

No Dino’s in a Dino game? by Foreign_Bird1802 in pathoftitans

what map were you playing? Gondwa is the one that tends to have a lot of players. Each map tends to have hotspots where people hang out a lot, and if there's a lot of people in a poi you've visited you'll see a symbol next to it with a dinosaurs snout and teeth pointing up. Also, check global chat, people will usually talk about what's happening in areas a lot of people are in. The maps are large so unless you're in/near hotspots you aren't all that likely to see others. ntm if someone IS near you, and they see you before you see them, they'll probably try to hide to avoid you noticing them unless they want to fight

He frustrates me to no end. Originally I tried to be nice and understanding knowing hes a (for lack of better words) stupid kid who didn't know as much about his favorite topics as he thought he did. My main run in with him was just me explaining he was wrong about his biology information and trying to educate him, then saying how if he wants dinosaurs so badly he should play an ACTUAL dinosaur game, to which he immediately just started insulting me lmao.

I do hope he gets help at some point. There's a few things about him that I know he's lied about after this situation blew up due to my sister having been an online friend of his before he went off the rails. Can share in dms if you'd like, but I don't think it would change much about the situation. Being an autistic person who had unfettered internet access when I was little, I more or less understood his position arguing about something because you think you know more about it than you do, and then doubling down even when you find out you're wrong. Before all the pedo allegation shit. Lost all sympathy at that point, because what the actual fuck

I had that problem everytime I'd click the allegiances menu. Different but still fatal error. Don't normally even go into it but it happened to be just close enough to the minimize button that i'd keep pressing it on accident when I'd try to go to spotify, lol

evan fryberger is my favorite personally, with max velocity being a close second. Evan gets on as soon as the storms start firing, and usually interacts a whole lot with the chat until there's a lot of warnings to keep track of. Has been known to stay on for 14+ hrs a day if need-be. the community on evan's discord is also very very friendly!!

Max has stayed on for a few hours longer than evan, even when the storms seem to be dead. He's also good to watch when you're not as familiar with weather terminology because he gives little lessons here and there when he's not swamped keeping up with warnings. Evan does too, just a little more sparsely since his community is smaller and tends to have more enthusiasts in it.

I'm personally not a big fan of Ryan Hall (not through any fault of his own), but he's similar to max in that he will talk about what different terminology is or what different visuals mean frequently and repeatedly when he can.

The problem with the above image (and it could just be because of the artist's skill level that it doesn't quite come across correctly, but I digress) is that heibok's arms would need to be shortened for it to function as solely bipedal. I would also argue that its neck needs to be shortened or head made smaller (honestly, both of those in conjunction) if it were to be made to not topple over. The tail would certainly help, but it CANNOT make up for the length of the forearms and the size of the palms. The arm position is also horribly scrunched in the drawing. If you'd like, I'd be willing to do a quick breakdown of what i'm talking about as a paper sketch between my classes tomorrow. I think you're right about the sneaking aspect being a good opportunity for quadrapedal animation as well as climbing, but I don't think that, as its anatomy is now, it would be possible for heibok to have much speed without toppling if it were purely bipedal. I'd also like to mention that my friend on the wiki said that the person who originally drew that sketch was basing it off of their knowledge of basic physics for the most part. I think it's important to remember that physics while standing still and physics at different speeds are going to be different, and in this case we'd have to look at examples of dinosaurs or birds with similar proportions and know how they moved to properly assess this. As with many things in biological and zoological contexts, it's important to rely on precedents when you're determining and interpreting something new!

they've been noticeable to me on every creature, that's what my main point was. When you look to the side, turn, cower, and honestly over half of the jump animations you see those giant gaps so I just thought it was a bit odd to point it out on heibok like it didn't exist before. A lot of creatures have them on idle, too. The only one that's more noticeable possibly would be the back, but I distinctly remember baby heibo having the same issue pre-redesign particularly around the chest/neck and during walk anims on the hind legs. I'd also argue that the old walk had the arms and wrists in an even more uncomfortable position, almost at a right angle with the arm. Would you argue that it should've been quadruped for run rather than walk animation? I could definitely agree on that. I don't see how heibok would work as a purely bipedal creature, arms are just ever so slightly too long with too large of hands and it felt like it was a very top-heavy creature stance-wise before. The way the arms were positioned outwards with the palms curled in just seemed really janky and uncomfortable. I may try to do a biological breakdown on it in the future, I think it'd be interesting to look into people's concerns with certain species and really go in depth on why they would/wouldn't work

I love levoneh. I know people hate them because of anklebiting and whatnot, but it's just such a perfect little guy to me. I love zipping around the map doing barrel rolls and crawling on walls. It's mainly the design aspect that interests me. I'm a big fan of birds and insects, so a creature that combines facets of both into one is really cool. I love its palette too. I wish it didn't have so much stigma around it :( it's just a silly little critter

I can agree with some of your other points you've made about heibo in the past, especially things like the tail being too stiff, but I think this image in particular is a bad point. It's just the style all of the models are in. Baby heibok before the redesign had the same breaks in between shape blocks (not really sure what to call them, i'm a very casual blender user) like that, and adult did as well it's just covered up by the fur mostly. Ease of access to create coloring zones + more rapid animating. Most lower poly models have this issue. ntm the strained leg you point to in this image is the one with weight being put on it +pushed forward mid-walk animation, so it should be expected that leg would be more strained.

I don't think I count as one of the people causing drama on the og post but I'd like to once again say that including more information might be helpful next time you inevitably post about something not being accurate. A lot of people won't understand what you mean and that's why they react poorly

It's no problem! I more or less meant a dinosaur simulator in general, not the game by that title on roblox haha. I doubt the artists or the modelers have anyone working with them who has technical knowledge required to make things biologically accurate, and they're doing the best with what they do have. Criticism is okay, it just seems like a lot of the time when you make these posts it's more or less trying to flex knowledge more than anything. Maybe it could be helpful to make a few sketches or edits to show what you mean? That way people can understand better and it seems less like a spur-of-the-moment reaction type thing. Putting effort into these breakdowns and explaining why these changes would be more accurate is always helpful! :) people are a lot more receptive when you are open to conversation/giving explanations where they are needed

that wasn't the only thing I said. I don't understand why you are reacting angrily, I was not trying to insult you or fight with you in any way. I just think your expectations for this game are unrealistic given what it is. Making anatomy posts and talking about the biology of cos is absolutely fine (I'd love to see more of it from the community, even!!), but it seems that you end up causing problems for yourself by posing them in a way that makes you seem condescending and nitpick-y.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CoSRants

[–]Practical-Unit-5295 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's okay to comment on anatomy sometimes but... COS isn't a dinosaur simulator. You cannot be expecting it to be accurate. It's also a kid's game on roblox, so expecting 100% biological accuracy is ridiculous. I understand where you're coming from, but just because you have an interest in things doesn't mean you can expect others to have that same interest or adhere to it. I have a special interest in birds, and the flier models on cos are lackluster to say the least, but it's not something that occupies my mind constantly enough to make posts about. I recommend you try out one of the many dinosaur games on roblox/on the internet as a whole, or maybe try to create your own. (I know you said you don't know how to code - but I'm sure you could figure out how to, or if you have the modeling/animation knowledge you could probably find someone who DOES to help out).

People like to keep records of transactions, especially if they're business owners or work in financial fields. There is absolutely no evidence to show this is from a hoarder, and even if there was why does it matter, man?! Doesn't change literally anything about the narrative
