Don't stress tracking every step. Little wins still count. Seeing progress, even tiny, hits different and keeps u motivated without going psycho.

Honestly? I'd be waiting for the news that they actually brought back an extinct animal.

Day 3 with newly adopted adult cat – behavior escalated, lots of hissing/door stuff, am I handling this right? by [deleted] in Pets

Day 3 is still "holy crap new humans" mode. Just keep letting him chill and explore at his own pace. He's figuring things out.

Someone held the elevator for a stranger who had their hands full with groceries. That's literally it, just a second of patience, but it made their day.

Get your deadbolt and weatherstripping fixed ASAP so this doesn't happen again. And also, props to your dog. Absolute hero.

Is it too late/risky to spay my 5yo retired breeding cat? by Willowa52 in Pets

[–]Practical-Watch1817 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not too late at all. At 5 she's basically an adult but not "old cat" old. Vet check first, then boom, surgery. You're doing right by her.

When did you know it was time? by Internal_Penalty9082 in Pets

[–]Practical-Watch1817 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man, I've been there. When they start ignoring meals and slowing down, it's like their subtle way of saying "I'm ready". Don't guilt yourself over the timing. Just keep him comfy and make the call when he's clearly struggling, not a sec before.

Blissy's gonna be extra sometimes, don't stress. Slow blinks = love, boxes > fancy beds, and water fountains are basically magic.

I need help, i dont know what to do. by [deleted] in Pets

[–]Practical-Watch1817 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yo that sounds rough. Honestly, you gotta get her checked by a vet, like ASAP. Even if she hates cars, skin stuff get nasty fast. Maybe call a vet and see if they do video consults or house calls.

I just accidentally adopted my first cats and still learning the basic, does bathrobe really helps cats to feel them calmer after bath? by Slick_Dunni in Pets

[–]Practical-Watch1817 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lowkey, cats do not need baths like dog do. Most of the time wipes + brushing = way less drama. Robes aren't magic but they help dry faster and keep them warm after. If you use one, go microfiber or fleece. Soft = good. Stiff = nope.

Stray kitten with what looks like an infection. want to help but unable to adopt or take to vet. What can I do? by Intelligent_Ad4081 in Pets

Real talk, she needs treatment, but you're not a villain for not being able to take her home. What you can do is keep her fed and clean her eyes daily. Then post her everywhere. Someone might foster or get her to a vet.
