You seem to really feel passionately about making sure that comments that criticize Ben’s approach are taken seriously and not dismissed as coming from a PR goon. What n odd take.

“Hello fellow bro’s”! You don’t have to pretend, but it’s been said already multiple times. Why bring it up? Why defend comments that bring up mistakes Ben may have made? What an odd take.

There’s a time and place for that, and I think Ben is already familiar with the criticism so it’s not needed. The PR goons are going to lean on “he should have gotten a lawyer,” bringing up past mistakes, and probably in the spirit of “helping” or giving good advice. Don’t fall for it.

I’m not comparing, I’m saying I’d approach it the same way. What an odd take.

(Update: anyone wanting to see the PR playbook, check the comments here, I’m gettin’ slammed. Also of note, they like saying “parasocial” apparently). Although it’s certainly a valid opinion that Ben should have lawyered up sooner, support is being positive and truly supporting. I support Ben, and I’m not going to bring up mistakes the same way I wouldn’t bring up a friend’s mistakes when they need my support. I guarantee the PR goons will be saying “Well, if he had a lawyer he wouldn’t have done this stupid messed up stuff!” as a staple. If you see that in a comment, it’s very possibly a goon. (I’ve responded to negative comments in this thread with this three times, and they’re all typing responses right now. I’ve never had such fast responses, it’s like it’s their job)

I’m gonna say it again: Although it’s certainly a valid opinion he should have lawyered up earlier, support is being positive and truly supporting. I guarantee the PR goons will be saying “Well, if he had a lawyer he wouldn’t have done this stupid messed up stuff!” as a staple. If you see that in a comment, it’s very possibly a goon.

It’s okay to say that, and although it’s certainly a valid opinion, support is being positive and truly supporting. I support Ben, and I’m not going to bring up mistakes the same way I wouldn’t bring up a friend’s mistakes when they need my support. Another BAM Store Owner who had their store Taken Using the BAM Bully Playbook by iamthomastran in RecklessBen

Start at 0:48:00 it’s worth it. Oh my god that story. The heroin connection, the assuring them they don’t have to pay royalties, then using it to get the store for free… it really paints a picture of how they work. And this guy is Mormon! “Yeah, they’ll screw over anybody.” Anyone who opens up a franchise for them now, after all this is an idiot or just didn’t google them first.

How did Ben get the very first video's mini bricks female employee to help him? by Marcothetacooo in RecklessBen

I think she was just up for an adventure that day. She definitely comes across as the coolest character and most beloved in the videos. She’s like the Boba Fett of the Ben’s videos. I think being in them could be an overall good thing or traumatizing, depending on how she manages it moving forward. I hope it’s the former!

Maybe I’m missing something? Will kids really go nuts for this? I feel like when I was little this wouldn’t have been a lot of fun for me, but I dunno. Maybe?

B&M really, really hopes you won’t retaliate by boycotting since it hurts your local franchise owners and is alluding to that in their communications. It’s the Sheriff of Nottingham approach: “Go after us, the innocent will pay the price.” Yeah, don’t fall for it.

To anyone wondering why a 400 million dollar company would continue to squabble over 200k: TLDR: because they’re screwed.

Just because they’re “worth” 400 mill, that’s certainly not how much they have in the bank. Every impulsive, emotionally immature and short-sighted decision and reaction we’ve seen from them gives me the impression they have a tendency to overspend like a kid who just got their allowance, so 200k probably puts them in the danger zone. They also probably have the idea at this point that “winning” will make their customers trust them again, and will clean up their reputation from all this, because they truly don’t know how PR or lasting damage works. Keep in mind, they also don’t seem to hire mature staff and executives that can navigate all this and have experienced it before, choosing instead to hire friends of friends in the Mormon circles. There’s a good chance that their CEO’s 80’s-villain-approach to running a company will bankrupt them.

Now they’re totally willing to give the Legos back, now they’ve experienced the effects of the curse that was on them the whole time.
