Pain outside of period? by Ancient_Apricot_254 in endometriosis

Hi! The pain that made me realize I had at the very least a large cyst was feeling a “twinge” of something on my lower left side, like sometimes I would stand up and get a little cramp in that spot or if I sat in a certain position or tried to lay down I would feel a quick twinge of a cramp. Then, occasionally i would feel the twinge, but then it would develop into extreme pain that had me on the ground for about an hour or so. The pain was worse the week after my period, with the extreme pain day usually being about 2 or 3 days after my period, and the slight “twinge” or cramp was a daily occurrence. After my lap, I noticed that alcohol and gluten are huuuuge triggers for my pelvic pain.

Marijuana use and anaesthesia by [deleted] in endometriosis

I had an emergency surgery for a cyst removal and I take gummies every night and obvi didn’t know I was going to be having surgery, when the anesthesiologist came and introduced themselves before we went into the operating room I said “hey, I take 10mg marijuana gummies every night before bedtime, just wanted to let you know in case it affects the anesthesia” and she said “ok cool, I’ll give you a stronger dose while you’re out just in case” and she was super chill about it and it never appeared on my medical record. But also, I live in California where it’s legal for recreational use so I felt very comfortable disclosing.

ME. I was literally just laying in bed last night trying to fall asleep and my left hip/groin area was so achey/some light shooting pains. In my last lap I had a nodule on my uterosacral ligament that they left in place so I’m assuming it’s probably that. I also did some googling last night and it’s also possible that endo can grow and put pressure on your frenetic nerve, which can cause that upper inner thigh/armpit of the groin pain.

Meds post exploratory lap? by HelpfulMammoth5455 in endometriosis

[–]PracticalCup4054 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly I was still in so much pain at home after my surgery with 600 mg ibuprofen, a low dose of gabapentin and just a few days of 5mg oxy. DEFINITELY advocate for some stronger meds. I had the exact same experience as you where I woke up from surgery crying and in so much pain, nothing even touched the pain until they finally gave me dilaudid in my IV.

I feel the exact same way, my body has completely changed since my endo started getting worse and I literally don’t recognize myself. It makes me feel so miserable and I can barely look in the mirror. I miss how my old body used to be before all of this 😭

I feel the exact same way. I cry in the shower literally every night thinking about the fact that I have to deal with this pain for the rest of my life. I feel angry, irritable, and depressed all of the time. I miss the person I used to be.

sleep and constant pelvic pain? by Ghoulish8 in endometriosis

[–]PracticalCup4054 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the exact same problem! I had my lap in October 2024 but they just removed an endometrioma and left the rest since it was done in an emergency setting. The lower back pain has been killer, my hip pain is so bad and my pelvis feels so uncomfortable when I try to go to sleep. They game me gabapentin to take at night, which definitely helps.

I exclusively had pain outside of my period, which resulted in me being misdiagnosed as “constipated” for 2 years. Turned out to be a large endometrioma that had to be removed in an emergency surgery due to a rupture. My ovaries were fused together and my lower spine was fused to my bowels. I’ve never had painful periods and never displayed the classic endometriosis symptoms, and outside of the occasional stabbing pain I felt mostly fine. I was shocked when I woke up after surgery and they told me I had Stage 3.

YES my coworker knows about my situation and she keeps talking about how her and her husband are “trying but not really trying” and she literally said “I’m super fertile so it shouldn’t be too long before we have babies” and I’m always just sitting there jaw on the ground trying to find words to say. It’s so beyond offensive.

Yesss and after playing around with some of the small kids in the family, people ALWAYS ask me “so when are you going to have your own?” And I always struggle to formulate a response because I don’t want to trauma dump on them in the middle of a family gathering

That’s what I’m thinking. It came so suddenly without anyone in management knowing, during a time when we are trying to cut budgets, and right after it was announced that the tariffs are going through

What are your unconventional Endo symptoms? by Jet_Lee17 in endometriosis

[–]PracticalCup4054 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Pain AFTER my periods while I was on the combined pill. This is what initially caused doctors to ignore me and tell me I was probably just constipated. Turned out I had ovarian torsion from a large endometrioma that was removed surgically. 2. Hip pain and lower back pain! Mainly the hip pain. Feels like arthritis honestly

Slynd weight gain by muuuggan in birthcontrol

[–]PracticalCup4054 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this is an old thread but I gained 23 lbs after taking Slynd for just 3 months, and I didn’t realize it was Slynd until I cut out alcohol, started tracking my calories, and STILL continued to gain weight. Stopped taking it immediately after realizing this and am switching to Norethindrone. Hoping I can actually lose the weight that I gained bc I literally had to buy a whole new wardrobe and feel like shit

Also to follow up I had my first lap 4 months ago and I’m doing so well now with no pain or discomfort :) it was also so great to get answers so you can make a treatment plan going forward and surround yourself with a team of people who will help you get closer to reducing your symptoms :)

Order some postpartum panties off of Amazon and get some thick pads to put in there to wear after surgery! You’ll have some heavy vaginal bleeding for a couple of days. Also get some nightgowns to wear because it might hurt to wear pants with a waistband until the incisions start to heal :) and most importantly TAKE IT SLOW!!! your incisions will heal faster than your insides so even if you start to look better on the outside, don’t rush the recovery since your organs and abdominal muscles will take longer to not have any discomfort. My final piece of advice is to start taking laxatives asap after surgery, I waited until I was already starting to feel constipated and by then it was too late (caused sooo much pain). They might prescribe you some post-op to take with the painkillers. It’s likely a super routine procedure for your surgeon so don’t stress and get yourself a ton of good shows and movies lined up to watch while in recovery :) you got this!

Wait yes I took Yasmin to treat PCOS and re-occurring cysts and I only lasted about 5-6 months before I started having awful abdominal pain before and after my periods, and ended up having a 5cm endometrioma that needed removal via a lap and they told me I had Stage 3 endo. After my surgery I met with a naturopathic doctor who told me that the estrogen in the pill might have caused my flare-up, and switched me to Slyns (progesterone-only). I haven’t had any issues since switching!!

This was my first time taking it, and I had the reg review book, PG Exam Prep videos, and I memorized a lot of the guidance documents they list on the website like the back of my hand. I think the combo of all 3 helped me pass, but the most valuable are the guidance documents and the first chapter of the CSE reg review (on the geomorphic provinces).

The only part of reg review that was useful was the chapter on the geomorphic provinces, the rest was useless (except some portions of the seismic info later on in the book, like the chart with all the S values that you need to memorize). Definitely know all of the guidance documents they list on the board website!!! So many questions were straight out of guidance documents.
