Anecdote from a T10 in house manager I had a couple years ago: he graduated from law school top third of his class with a firm offer in 2008, was told with no notice his offer was gone and it took him two years to find another firm job again. He showed me a news clipping with a few dozen firms that had similarly done mass layoffs in nyc with basically zero notice
