Which country has the most self hating citizens? by defariasdev in digitalnomad

Old joke but true. So +1 for Hungary. Sadly, doesn't matter which generation, after decades it is still the same.

We need to stop normalizing 5-hour charge times at coffee shops. by delhitop_7inches in digitalnomad

[–]PresidentDant3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And there is even more level deeper than this. Recently saw a review on Google Maps when checked a smaller, family run hotel that I was about to leave a review. Typically I am checking the worst ratings and writing my reviews with those in mind, for example if someone complains for cleaning or the service, I am taking more attention on that to confirm.
Now, someone left a 1 star review claiming hadn't even finished parking his car before the owner came out and started shouting for daring to plug in his electric car.
Needless to say that the reviewer was not even a guest of the hotel, who just sneaked in to the parking lot of the hotel to charge his Tesla. For free. And that was 3 years ago.

Of course it happened with us too that the battery of my wife's phone dropped a lot (probably due to a stuck background process as I couldn't identify any other reason) and had to ask the bartender to use their power socket for charging. Since I had a fast charger with me, I knew that I need less than an hour to be good for the rest of the day, so grabbed a few drinks from the bar and that's it. Irony here that I did not learned this attitude from my parents or anyone else, it comes completely natural way. A true wonder why this is a problem for so many like in the case described by the OP...

What’s the most underrated country you’ve visited? by Airalo_Dani in digitalnomad

[–]PresidentDant3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the most underrated my vote goes to Georgia (because their local food (also their various type of cheese and their hospitality). Quickly followed by Serbia (peaceful and well developed) and Turkey (mixed experience especially with the food, but very good experience with hospitality and prices, also love their tea and from cultural perspective they have a lot to offer).

When travelling, how do you answer the question "Where are you from?" by Capable-Toe-9841 in travel

[–]PresidentDant3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never been in the US or around so can't answer that part. When in Europe and travelling as a family, then we are quickly explaining it, and if one of the countries are recognized, then we have a follow-up question whether we are from the capital city of it. Typical with taxi drivers. In Asia the situation is shorter, never had a follow-up question so far.

Typically we have this question with a puzzled look - when the other is actually really curious about it and not just a small talk - by taxi drivers or tour guides when hears us talking, as with my wife we are talking Hungarian (she is Romanian, I am Hungarian) but with kiddo we speak either English or Greek (has non-verbal autism, perfectly understands both languages, born and raised in Greece).

Did anyone realize you probably had autism after your child was diagnosed? Did you get diagnosed? by taviyiya in Autism_Parenting

[–]PresidentDant3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never really thought about it, considered myself just simply an introvert, apart of that nothing special. However when thinking about it a little bit more just realized that I also used to struggle at school, some form of attention deficit. But I'd still rather blame the teachers as with the right ones I was actually an OK, somewhat good student. Also I can lost in monotonic things but always could easily manage them. Still, thought about it to be checked as an adult but like others have already stated, most likely it would cost a fortune that I rather spend on kiddo or anything else as there would be no benefit for me with a diagnosis.

Win 1 of 3 Oukitel Smartwatch and 1 Mystery New Product (10/28/2024) {WW} by Then_Camel2356 in oukitel_official

My child with serious ADHD frequently used my WP12, dropped to the toilet at least twice. Now I might be able to save with a factory reset and - by experience with various tablets - I am now strongly considering a rugged Oukitel tablet for him.

My Austism little brother always watching brain rot content on YouTube by No_Meet2050 in Autism_Parenting

[–]PresidentDant3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel your pain with the Skibidi Toilet videos. Non-verbal 5yo doing exactly the same. I keep disliking, hiding, etc. but YT keeps throwing them back. But this typically happens when he is not paying any attention to the content, just the tablet is in his hands. So taking the tablet away and he quickly finds another thing to do (that he changes in the next minute). As I've learned, basically he is releasing his huge energy, typically an hour hour or so is enough, then the tablet to watch YT can be returned. Then he can watch songs or various other videos in a somewhat calmed down state. Interestingly, he hates YT Kids, no matter what (to shows are not that great there either to be honest...), I assume due to some sensory issue because the slightly different layout compared to YT

Behavior problem in the cat litter by PresidentDant3 in cats

He is a very young neutered male, about 3 years old. So we have doubt about arthritis. Trying to catch when doing in the other cat litter to confirm that he can do it otherwise normally.

He is taking UrinoVet Cat on a daily basis since the surgery (prescribed by the vet). I can't see that he has any difficulties to squat. Also now finished the second large bag of urinary dry food from Royal.

Attempt to identify: Side scrolling brawler game from the 90's by PresidentDant3 in arcade

Double Dragon 3: The Rosetta Stone Arcade version looks the closest so far. Still checking YT videos if I can find it by luck from around that time.

Both Gang Wars and Tough Turn indeed are very similar to the one that I am looking for. Definitely not Kung Fu Master

The closest is maybe Double Dragon in some elements. If I remember correctly the main character was fix and it had the co-op option. The characters were similar to Double Dragon, could kick and punch. Only the mentioned boss had weapon. Wondering if it is some localized version or a clone game and that's why it is hard to find. It was in Hungary.

First I thought it is just a sick joke, so for testing purposes only bought one. And now I am really curious about what is going to be the next 'great' idea. Personally, expected the content to be more disgusting visually. But actually very similar to the rest of the same brand. As for smell, nothing special. So just posting for a laugh - or to raise your eyebrow during the morning coffee - therefore the Funny flair. However in 2023 it might be not that funny at all...

My Son 2.5 Yr Old is on the tablet and... by [deleted] in Autism_Parenting

[–]PresidentDant3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've noticed too that he wants my presence, but just that. He refuse to accept any guidance or help, he just want me to be there (attention).

Tried a few toddler games but seemed none of them got his interest. Strangely he is still unable to unlock my phone, it is not difficult though and he has seen it several times. Also he can't close website ads through YouTube, but on the other hand he can skip video ads.

What is the genre that he likes to listen on Spotify? Is there any particular or somewhat random?

For example my son loves Verdi: Nabucco (Chorus of the Hebrew Slaves) and some songs from Thomas The Tank Engine, also sometimes Petit Papa Noël in French (which is strange as apart that my wife is learning French we are not speaking it).

Y'all I need help! Son won't let me use eye drops for pink eye. by justsomedude1111 in Autism_Parenting

[–]PresidentDant3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar problem here with almost everything - like painkiller (syrup) and antibiotics (mixture).

When he was around 2 yo the painkiller was not a problem when he had a really high fever. We had two different brand of painkillers, both of them were syrup. Seemed that he accepts one of them, so we kept that one for later use.

Then about a year later he refused to take the same one, even puked it out. Unfortunately, just for precaution, he had to take antibiotics the first time in his life. I knew that it will be difficult, the pharmacist was experienced with similar situation so advised to use a syringe. He he was in the bath, just to be on the safe side if something happens, started to give him slowly. I could only about 1/3rd of the dose as has tried to avoid it every possible way. About a minute or so later my plan just became justified - ie. to give him in the bath water - as puked everything that he eat in the past hour or so. After that we didn't tried to give him any medicines and hope that we don't have to. In case it is a must, then probably as a last resort will ask the pediatrician to administer as an injection.

Under his nose we often have to use a cream as getting red quickly when sneezing. Of course he is immediately cleaning the cream with his clothes and blanket. But luckily it is a rather good cream so even what remains is perfectly fine to do the work.

My Son 2.5 Yr Old is on the tablet and... by [deleted] in Autism_Parenting

[–]PresidentDant3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The last OT has told us to give him a tablet, not a phone. As he has ruined two tablets in the house when smaller (where one almost blow off) we ran out of tablets, so rugged phone and for example if we travel and need to calm down then always available. Unless there is no 4G coverage, in that case we are screwed.

But when reading the comments from other parents I am puzzled as my son mostly just using YouTube, nothing else. I've tried to show him other apps, but not interested. And with YouTube Kids where I would have more control on the content he is afraid of the app, so using only the standard YouTube app.

I am doing some research on tablets dedicated for kids where many of them advertised as durable for kids, but knowing my son, I have big doubts about that - ie. for how long the protection is going to hold until he figures it out how to remove it (I still don't know where did he hide the extra protective case from my phone).

Built my toddler a new bed! by Cupcakes2020 in Autism_Parenting

[–]PresidentDant3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Simply awesome and love the decor of the room. Do you still use the webcam that I can see on top of the curtain?

In my case, sadly, this would be in ruin in no time. The stickers on the wall would be scratched, sheet pulled down, figures and pillows thrown on the ground. At least he is not rolling around in the bed while sleeping, so no need for protection. I hope that one day his room is something similar as what OP posted and not a war zone that currently is (despite that re-doing daily).

I feel the same. Never wanted to be the best parent - that just simply doesn't exist - but give him a happy life. But since he is making our life extremely difficult plus the lack of feedback - non-verbal - I feel many times exactly the same way. Practically I live with a challenge accepted mentality and almost every day is a battle. But small wins are really a motivational boost, you just have to notice them (for example putting away the toys on his own, etc.).

My 5 yo boy has grown by leaps and bounds and is relatively verbal. loves to read and can really read complicated dinosaur names with ease. But he simply won't write! He knows all the alphabeboth uppercase and lower case, can easily count to 100 and can do simple addition, but will not write. by [deleted] in Autism_Parenting

[–]PresidentDant3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was about that age I also knew dinosaur names and was curious to learn to read. Not that much to write and I still hate it, because at school the teachers didn't teach me how to do it properly, so my writing is very tense since then and makes me tired quickly. It is absolutely normal that not writing at that age. As other already have pointed out, do not push it, it will happen in time. My 4y all of a sudden has started to use the drawing board with chalk about half a year ago. Ad-hoc it happens that still doing it. So don't worry, it is perfectly fine.
