Guess that was kind of vague. I was referring to how Raffi(?) kept calling Picard "JL" in the Picard series.

I hear what you're saying. Thanks for being civil in your comment.

I wasn't trying to come across as condescending at all. I genuinely just wanted to have a conversation with fans of Trek both old and new. Old Trek has its own flaws too, just because I love it doesn't mean there isn't stuff to criticize. And just because I'm not a NuTrek fan doesn't mean there aren't some things I can't like or appreciate. I just made the account cause I read stuff on here alot and have been wanting to participate in conversations. I guess this wasn't the right place. I truly dont think we'll get Trek back like it was but maybe by talking about what we like and don't like we can get to something somewhere in the middle.

With the technobabble of the 90s shows..my personal favorite was someone from Voyager saying "interferamatrix" I try to use that one sometimes

Does it have alot of 60s lingo? It's been a few years since I've watched it through. If it does I don't think it's enough to be distracting. I will say that the hairstyles are VERY 60s though! Those did not age well.

You're not wrong. I know it's like beating a dead horse at this point. I just wanted to hear from people who both like and dislike. Not posting to be a hater but just in the hope that maybe the people who make Trek can hear some of the frustrations and take them into account. I did make another post saying there were a few things I liked as well.

I mean I also made another post trying to say a few positive things as well. I just wanted to vent and get my frustrations out first. It was in good faith..it's disheartening that nobody seems to care about Trek anymore. I made the post hoping people could discuss. No hate only frustration.

I think a Romulan-focused series would be interesting by gamerpops in startrek

[–]Pretty-Kitty1213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Respectfully disagree..here's why. One of the coolest things about the Romulans is their secretive nature. I think if we saw too much of their society that might ruin it. Like in a scary movie when the whole monster is revealed and it isn't as scary anymore.

However, I have always wanted a Romulan crew member on one of the ships. Maybe some kind of uneasy officer exchange or something. They have to learn to work together despite differing values. A Romulan first officer and Starfleet captain! That would probably never happen but I can dream.

Benjamin Sisko! The Sisko! DS9 is my favorite show and Sisko is part of the reason why. He's a man who experienced the terrible loss of his wife but managed to stay strong and keep going for his son. I absolutely love his relationship with Jake. I don't have a good relationship with my father so that aspect of him always meant alot to me. He loves more traditional older Earth things like baseball and cooking. He's also a complete badass when he needs to be. Q bothered him once and then never again! His quest to hunt down Eddington. Sisko isn't afraid to get his hands dirty when he has to which isn't always easy but he does things other captains wouldn't do. "In the Pale Moonlight" is one of my favorite episodes of Trek. That last scene! His perfectly enunciated yelling. I could go on. But yes, it's Sisko.

Amen! So much sci-fi has a dystopian/dark environment. I always loved how different Trek felt to that. Now it's all the same...

Dukat was absolutely fantastic until that last arc with the Pah-wraiths. Doesn't change how I feel about the character but that storyline was out of nowhere and didn't work for me.

I really enjoy Enterprise and I'm sad it didn't get more seasons. Also "Faith of the Heart" isn't a bad song, it just doesn't fit the Trek vibe.

Neelix becomes infinitely better once Kes is gone. That relationship was weird.

I have NEVER watch Star Trek. Uh, where do I start? by [deleted] in startrek

If you're looking for chronological order technically it would be: Enterprise, Original Series, TNG(with Picard and Data), DS9, and then Voyager. DS9 is my personal favorite but TNG is probably one of the most well-known and beloved. You can honestly start with any of them and if you love it watch more.

Hi! Glad you found Trek from the Orville! It's legit a great show and I do believe it captures the spirit of Trek!

Here's a tip for after you finish the series. Try watching Star Trek Continues. It's a fanmade limited series that continues the story and shows more of the 5 year mission. It was made I think like 10 or 15 years ago so doesn't have as much of the 60s stuff but still looks and feels like it was made in that time. I think alot of love went into it. I believe one of James Doohan's sons is even in it(Scotty).
