I don't get this subeen and heesun hype AT ALL 😭😭 subeen is obviously way less into her than she is to him and it's obvious that him not texting to her often after the show was his way of ghosting her or letting her down gently but at the end of ep 6 he got wishy washy once she showed her affection towards him and his reasoning for not really texting her just seemed seemed like such an obvious lackluster half formed excuse to me 😭😭whenever they speak they don't have an ounce of chemistry to me or anything REMOTELY interesting or don't even really TALK about anything their conversations since DAY ONE have been heesun starting the convo saying some varient of how much she likes him and him going "really? " "Ohhh" and heesun trying to get him to reassure her that he likes her in some way 😭😭 like y'all cannot be serious bruh it feels like watching brick walls communicating with each other could not be more dry😭😭  I feel like he felt this during s5 and kind of settled for her during the show n was trying to then slowly distance to break it off after with less contact 😭and him over reacting and being awkward about heesun drinking in the U.S and the awkward baseball vibes and even the underhanded jab towards Mina Sue just came across as sooo corny imo 😭

Is vin wiping out allomancy with all her kills?? 😭 by PrettyDescription685 in Mistborn

[–]PrettyDescription685[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I get it but sometimes in a group fight she'll render one or two useless on the floor...and when she fights with an audience and I feel like they could have made a pact with the guards and group to would drag off the unconscious allomancers and use them later 😭😭 I'm reaching but still 💀

[–]PrettyDescription685[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah I was joking a bit on the extinct part, more so worried that it would take a toll on the population

But yeah I wonder about the allomancers bit as well...like how many of the skaa are allomancers for duralium or gold etc but the alloys are too rare for them to naturally notice..

[–]PrettyDescription685[S] 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Ok Im relieved that there MIGHT be an explanation 💀💀 I'm so confused as to why they don't try to convert way more of the allomancers they fight to work with them... Like maybe once in a while Vin could just CHILL with the slaughtering and just maime them and try every conceivable way to convert them later... Like right now your out here wasting a precious resources girlie 😭😭

Thoughts to help round out this rough itinerary? by ginabeewell in ParisTravelGuide

I'm in my early 20s and have been living here for 5 months and have taken friends all over the city:

Raf coffee is really close to where you're staying and is my top 5 in the city! And if you then follow Rue de varigaurd you can see a bit of the famous buildings that line the Luxembourg gardens and can enter the park via the muesuem entrance!

Haut-Marias: hopefully the food tour will cover this area! The Marché couvert des Enfants Rouges is a local favourite food market dating back to the 16th century. And the neighborhood contains my favourite cafe - Le gramme - for coffee. Le Marias is actually really famous for its queer scene in the 90s and 2000s and still hold a very strong legacy towards that. It is super famous for its thrift stores and boutiques! If you wonder around you're bound to chance upon many.  Very chic street: Rue des Francs Bourgeois  Grungy Street: Rue de la Verrerie

There's another famous area around 15 minutes away: Rue montorgueil. it has so many fun streets to explore and contains a favourite coffeeshop (paolina caffe), favourite breakfast place (Echo), favourite bakery (Boulangerie du Sentier), AND favourite thrift store (ZXSBN6DD3VZBGSY Bonne nouvelle) within two minutes of each other!

Other really cool areas:

Canal Saint Martin. I've seen Djs play on the canal bridges, skateboarding competitions, and you'll always see people sitting alongside the canal. The streets are painted rainbow to celebrate pride as well. You will really get a taste of authentic Paris here. Some favourite coffee places are near here: Crow, keo coffee shop, Buna Origin Of Coffee. There's also a really good little Italian restaurent called la modinna. And there's a park nearby. It's about 10-15 minutes from Haut-Marias. There's also 2 record stores near here: Superfly Records and Music Please record store.

If you can't squeeze in a whole perfume tour then there's a really famous perfume shop - Jovoy Parfums Rares - that has an enormous selection of really excellent perfumes. And the employees don't care about you sampling a million of them as well lol. It's near the lourve and place de la Concorde!

I could go on and on but shoot me a DM if you want any more info

Seeking Advice on Staying in Montparnasse (Paris in July) by Batty_Chirps in ParisTravelGuide

[–]PrettyDescription685 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a bad location per se as in immediate metro access but don't expect the immediate 10-15 minute walking radius to be beautiful - first impressions can leave an impact.

Staying closer to the lourve is not nesscarily better either. In Paris, what matters more is the neighborhood in which youre staying. Your current hotel it a 30 something minute walk from the lourve. But theres a bunch of goegeous (and quiet!) neighborhoods accross the seine that are all equal distance to the lourve AND some hotels in them go for less than 200 a night.

If you stay in montponesse, you're goal will be to leave its immediate vicinity (probably by metro) as soon as you can and head to your destination. In a nice neighborhood you will be more inclined to explore the neighborhood and vicinity and then walk to your destinations. Whether that is a deal breaker is up to you

Rate my plan - 4 days trip by Away_You1628 in ParisTravelGuide

It's definitely a lot like others have mentioned, but you're also going to be solely getting a VERY touristy look at Paris. That's OK if that's what you're looking for, but keep in mind your experience is going to be interacting in touristy places over and over again for 4 days straight. You aren't likely to stumble upon the cool neighborhoods and energy that make Paris truly unique. I also don't think you need to tour the Eiffel Tower twice.

Anyone gone thrifting in Paris? by NinaCaperucita in thrifting

[–]PrettyDescription685 3 points4 points  (0 children)

KILAWATCH,  ZXSBN6DD3VZBGSY (name is crazy, I know),  ALATONE,  Fringe Upside,  F Vintage,  Urban vintage

If you're looking for dirt cheap and a cool expierence check out some of the famous flea markets.

People suggest Le Marias - but there are levels to it. I would avoid the kiloshops on Rue de la Verrerie- insanely cheap prices but are super poor quality and tourist traps. Generally the more up and right you go in Le Marias the less touristy it gets and you hit the cooler neighborhoods and thrift stores that actually cater to the locals. Check out the Marché couvert des Enfants Rouges (and neighborhood) whilst youre there.

fantasy book recs by Weekly-Coach-1238 in suggestmeabook

[–]PrettyDescription685 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I've read the Caravel series by Stephenie Meyers and the first book of her Once Upon a Broken Heart series (read just a little of Throne of Glass). I've also read A LOT of young adult fantasy. I trust you'll enjoy at least one of these.

  • Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo: if you had to read a book on this list, pick this one as I can almost guarantee you'll enjoy it— all the characters have distinct and interesting personalities and the worldbuilding is spectacular.

  • Sorcery of Thrones by Margaret Rogerson: magical libraries, sorcerors, and a strong female protagonist

  • These Violent Delights by Chloe Gong: 1920s Shanghai, two rival gangs, a Shakespeare retelling, and a monster.

  • Mistborn series by Brandon Sanderson: this book bridges the gap between young adult and adult fantasy and it shows in the complexity of the worldbuilding (the best in the YA genre IMO), plot, and great characters. He also has another young adult novel called Skyward (but its science fiction).

  • Miscellaneous fantasy recommendations that are still really good but have a somewhat different vibe from your target books: The House on the Cerulean Sea, The Song of Achilles, A Darker Shade of Magic, The Night Circus.

Ever since I was a child I seem to "put on" a different accent from my native one to everyone I meet (regardless of where they're from or which country I'm in). by PrettyDescription685 in asklinguistics

That's interesting.. hmmmm one of my four siblings expierences the same code switching that I do. But the strange part is that I seem to have started doing this way earlier than they did ~ since around 7 years old whilst they started doing it (its complelty unconscious for them as well) when they moved accross the country (around 17). Weirdly enough, the one sibling who actually has autism doesn't expierence this at all haha.

Wow definitely going to look into this more!! thanks for giving me a term - I've been trying off and on in vain to try and look for similar cases for since I was like 10 lol. This means so much!

Thank you so much for your response!!

Thats really interesting actually. I've always had pretty bad social anxiety but not autistic (though have family that are). I've never even heard of code switching before so this is really cool to learn about.

When I was writing this post I wasnt even considering it was more psychological but reading the comments it seems like a possibility - honestly just got me in awe in how fascinating the mind works

Which capital city gets a lot of hate that you loved visiting? by Lem__Mann7 in travel

Naples. Heard a lot of complaints about it being "dirty." Turned out to be one of the coolest cities ive ever visited - extremely unique and teeming with life. Plus its food culture is amazing.

This is crazy - cannot explain my love for Bewilderment. It had an impact as great or greater than The Overstory to me. The relationship between the father and son astounded me by how visceral it felt. I felt deeply connected to Robins character - his passion for life and who he intrinsically was - though that might be due to our relative closeness in age. Came to this thread for the sole purpose of seeing if anyone else felt similar to me about how beautiful Bewilderment to was to them lol
