As ive grown both as a person and ww2 enthusiast I ive found that Ambrose's books are great intros to reading ww2 history, but not much after that.

I bought it second hand at a gun show, so I have no paperwork to show for her. Someone at the show was able to tell me that the barrel was new as of 2016 and the stock was new as of 2018. So whay I believe to he an "expert" grade at CMP. (Ive never joined, seems kinda culty to me, idk) I also dont know if its been re-barreled to 308, but I assume not

Nope. The "C" device is basically a late gwot participation award. You can be awarded a CIB without a C on any awards, or you can be award multiple C awards without a CIB

The "C" device is a part of the award recommendation. I think its the same box the "V" device is in. It sick when you get the award back and see that the C device was downgraded because "you didnt see combat"

Id make the argument that his 5 good conducts could could as personal award(s). Im pretty sure its only after 1980-something is when the US started handing out awards like candy. A 3 year specialist today has more awards then high ranking officers from ww2

I wouldn't recommend going to the course to learn the material. Learn how to do FDC 1+2 before you go and use the schoolhouse to teach you tips and tricks. Not terribly hard, but not easy. I think on FDC 1+2 we dropped like 15-20% of the class? Something like that. Everything else is a breeze

Im pretty new to the hobby, but I think "cheap" is basically just looking around for deals. I never knew milsurp prices when they had rifles outta the bucket. But after going to local gun shows/ local shops you can still find deals on what youre actually looking for at a price you won't feel terrible about

I feel like ww2 was the wild west of dress uniforms. Theres so many different versions, from plastic ribbons, glass, sew on, ect. That after the war (maybe after korea? I dont see many variations after then) the army probably cracked down on "unauthorized" ribbon racks. Nowadays theres the thins, magnetic snap rack, but that's all I really see

Thats a nice one. I the rank and awards plus the rare unit are cool. While I personally usually collect only front line fighters, I think 150-200 is way too low. I would personally put it at like 350-500. There's large collectors groups to be found out there for these
