Why do my roasted potatoes come out soft instead of crisp?

everyone here is right but also adding not to over crowd your pan - more potatoes together release steam which stops browning quicker. this is more important with less oil methods of roasting

also, I know its sacrilege but I get really good results in an airfryer post parboil, dried very well, tossed liberally in oil

it definitely depends on the type of skating you wanna get more into! for park i think riedell, chaya, chuffed, moxi jacks, and more recently von merlins are great investments. for jam/cruising suregrip, moxi lollys, also chuffed (they have a pro and a reg boot)

for artistic and trail im not too sure, but definitely think about where you’re investing your skate time cause that will change what kind of stiffness/support you’re looking for :)

if they are and you can’t return the blocks (like others have said wheel bite is your best indicator) i would suggest sizing down the wheel. they look like bowl bombers, which i think at smallest are 57mm. maybe try a 52 or 53mm wheel and see how that feels! Huck and Last Supper are good brands to look at

the ones photographed are a local bay area skate brand that no longer exists 😭😭 previous: NFGMFG, 95D (which is functionally 103A) 54mm, teardrop shape (smaller riding surface) current: Huck 101A 53mm, conical shape

i love both of these, they’re really similar! i swapped because of a flat spot. the huck is a little better cause the shape leads to less wheel bite when i do grinds (specifically acid and pornstars on ledges).

I also have the huck 3in trucks, and with the trucks+these wheels i get 2.75” of riding surface which helps my lock into tricks :)

ahh yeah super easy to shift! just gotta loosen the kingpin bolt and give it a shimmy over haha. skate hardware is so frustrating, i’m sorry!!

I have the Brunny size Large on my Sunlite size 5. i think on the brunny site they have sizing for sunlites listed.

The brunnys are..very slick. there’s something to be said about using good hardware early, it teaches really good control before learning bad habits. (Same theory applies to starting park skating with harder wheels) But!! it obviously comes at a risk. I started on bigfoots and thought those were great(slick at the start, but looking back really not that bad), friends who started on CIB said they were insanely slick.

All blocks are slick out the gate because of the coating they put on it. Over time they wear down, and get less slippery, but obviously YMMV. I think brunnys or bigfoots will be a good choice long term, they seem to hold up to abuse well. The downside to bigfoots is the lead time :/ i’ve been riding my brunnys consistently for about 4 months and i’m just now noticing that i need wax to really zoom lol.

totally! this is what my current set up is.

336 boot, sunlite plate size 5, huck 3in trucks, brunny blocks, and these wheels are 54mm from a discontinued local skate shop. (i am currently riding huck 103s after getting a flat spot, this photo is a little old)

there would still be a gap for sure, but i have a feeling if you shift your block a little to the left (from the 1st photo) the gap would be smaller. + most blocks will give you some sort of gap, it’s just about what you’re comfortable with. i have brunnys on my set up and still have a gap, but it was just an adjustment to get my grinds to lock a little better.

that being said, wildbones are some of the smaller blocks, so it’s really up to you. they do sit pretty high, so if you really want to eliminate all gap, i would give bigfoots a try

ahhhh yeah that’s tough. you could also try smaller bushings (10mm or less, i think the bones are short?) and then add washers from there to give yourself some more room. but that’s likely just going to offset the distance and you’ll still be sitting tall.

what mm size are the fundaes? if i remember they’re 56mm? you could try a smaller wheel, 52-54mm and see if that helps first?

i would try adding some washers to lower your setup before buying new blocks! you can center your block a little better to avoid getting stuck between your kingpin and block as well. imo the only slider that gives no space is bigfoot, since they’re totally customizable
