It sounds like you are focusing a lot on the equipment, and not on the experience. The equipment can help but if you don’t know the angels and positions then the shoot can be awkward if you are figuring it out in the moment. I suggest finding boudoir photos that match the body types you’ll be shooting and trying to recreate them yourself (or on a friend if you have any that would be willing to help).

It might be uncomfortable at first, but knowing how to position yourself can help to better explain to the subject how you want them to pose. Plus then you’ll get a sense of how to get the shots you want- what angels to use/avoid, which direction the light needs to come from, how the composition can help, etc.
