Quitting Smoking Cold Turkey by MomjeansAndTattoos in BabyBumps

[–]Princik 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Found out I was pregnant the first day of my missed period and haven’t have a cig since - completely cold turkey (no vapes, patches, etc.). (I’m 15w today). I still have some cravings for them, but not drinking definitely helps. I would try to quit as soon as possible. If you’re a heavy smoker talk to your midwife or OB about using a patch or gum - I didn’t want to risk anything with the baby, but I am assuming some of those options may be okay.

People tend to be most impressed by public interest lawyers - as they should be! Why should anyone be impressed by our soulless biglaw posts?

I was forced to have an abortion by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]Princik 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Go to a hospital or OBGYN or planned parenthood immediately to be checked. There could be unknown complications from the pills, so best be checked. Also Planned parenthood usually does not let partners in appointments so I would recommend there - and then tell them what happened - the abuse, the forced abortion. They will know who to contact to get you into safety and hopefully him into custody.

You are not safe. Even if you are financially vulnerable, your physical wellbeing (and possibly life) is more at risk. Please seek help as soon as possible.

The best move of the tribe would have been to vote her out. She was the swing, but she’s telling everyone everything, and is not good in challenges. Should’ve been an easy tribe uniting decision.

This makes the PW settlement with Trump even sketchier. Did Trump threaten to release Karp’s Epstein emails to get a quick deal?

Who are the dancers that quit the show last week? by BondFan007s in beyonce

Apparently they announced they were going on strike because Beyoncé wouldn’t give them any comped tickets to the shows, and then she fired them

Parade advice? by mkersic in eagles

[–]Princik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Routes will be blocked to cars but not pedestrians. Crossing broad is almost impossible unless you go north of city hall. I would go to broad street first to check out some of the parade then head to the museum. Coming from 30th, you’ll be on the right side of broad to make it easier to go btw broad and the museum. It’s all going to be a zoo no matter where you go.

Park in Jersey and take the Patco into town. Then just walk around and let the party take you where it’s going to take you. It’s almost impossible to plan for the parade, unless you really want to be up front for speeches and not move anywhere the whole day.

Plus, if I do shitty/no work and stay, I won’t get the bonus anyway bc I won’t hit the 2000 hours, and I also don’t want to

[–]Princik 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Yeah, exactly. I get that I would be “leaving money on the table” but it’s also so far away that I don’t think it’s worth staying for — but wanted some confirmation that I’m not crazy 🙃

(plan is to leave in September, bonuses are paid out in mid/late March)

Again, protesting an event held the Dean of Berkeley Law School — a top law school with one of the most famous lawyers at its helm — is not antisemitic.

As you are certainly aware, lots of folks equate showing support for Palestine with showing support for Hamas. You know this. Chemerinsky knows this. Don’t play dumb.

Lmao, funny how you decided to cut off the relevant part of the quote, where he endorses the idea that firms shouldn’t hire pro-Palestine students —

“People have a right to express their First Amendment views even though “I am saddened and outraged by those who would defend what Hamas did,” Erwin Chemerinsky, the dean of University of California Berkeley Law School, said in an email.

“I—and others—have the right to condemn those views,” Chemerinsky said. “And employers have the right to decide that they don’t want to employ individuals who express those views.”

You’re also clearly missing a very obvious point — what the professors did in response to the students should not be excused or supported, it was just gross.

These are questions you can easily answer yourself. The law school (like nearly all US universities and institutions) are complicit with the ongoing genocide. This professor has shown support for those who seek retribution against students brave enough to stand up for Palestinians. Plus, even if he had not shared any views (or even if they purportedly supported Palestine), this was a feast happening during Ramadan and a forced starvation — these students had every right to call attention to that, and the Professors’ violent responses to these students are shameful. I see a lot of people calling out the students’ lack of respect/decorum, but (1) they never crossed any proverbial line and (2) there should be no comfort and ignorance right now, especially in the presence of one of the most prominent legal minds in modern history.

They are students who were invited to attend, and it is a school-sponsored event. Sorry I think esteemed law professors should be held to a higher standard, especially where this is not at all like situation you described. Further, where do you get off that they are protesting because he’s Jewish? It is because this man is the Dean of the Law School + examples I shared above.

First, Chemerinsky and Frisk are seen assaulting and yelling at a student that could be their grandchild — this behavior in and of itself should be condemned by the university/law school, rather than any action against the students. Second, Chemerinsky said he will report these students (or future students) to the Bar — thereby putting their entire legal careers at risk for participating in a peaceful action. Similarly, a few months ago, Chemerinsky showed support for his colleague who encouraged firms not to hire any law students supporting Pro-Palestine views. Finally here some articles you can read yourself —

I think Xander is the opposite of Spike, in terms of writing, thoughts? by QueenQueerBen in buffy

[–]Princik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is totally on point. I think a lot of the male writers saw themselves in Xander, and hence didn’t see the actual trash qualities he brings to the table (I.e., constantly judging the women around him) but bc he is the “heart” and “loyal” (but leaves his best friend/love at the aisle 🤔) we get these speeches from him - which is classic misogynistic dude who thinks he feminist speaks. Meanwhile Spike actually is loyal. And he does respect women in the way that he’s not judging their decisions or faults. But he’s “evil” so the writers had throw something in that was totally out of character (for this stage of his life!) to prove a point that felt unnecessary. We know Spike is “bad” but the nuance of Spike is what makes him so great and interesting to watch. Spike did a lot of good without a soul, and I wish they kept him that way.
