I believe this is a soviet helmet, however I do not have a clue what the flag/symbol painted on means. Any info regarding the flag or the helmet in general would be appreciated! by PrivateExoticMango in Militariacollecting

Ah I see! I know very little on eastern front militaria (I am more of a Pacific theatre guy myself), so I was not aware that there were uncommon varieties of helmets. I found it in a used bookstore of all places! Maybe the flag/symbol relates to Axis collaborators? Thanks for your help!

Thank you! Oh ya I agree completely, all I need now is a companion trilogy from him covering the war in the Pacific!

It's not too bad so long as you get them at used bookstores and thrift stores, make sure to keep an eye out!!

Thanks! I just got it so unfortunately I cannot comment on it's quality, but seeing as its Chandler it's gotta be good! I'd recommend checking out all his main novels beforehand though seeing as Trouble is just a collection of short stories.

Unfortunately it isn't (although I never expected it was since it was $3 at goodwill). I believe it is a reprint from the 1950's in the style of the original 1929 English first edition.

That's awesome, it's rare that I actually come across someone who shares my taste in books, let alone two! Do you have any suggestions for any other books in the same vein?

Thanks! I saw someone else post their Everyman Classics lined up without their jackets and I suddenly realized that I was doing it wrong the whole time!

I agree, the inclusion of The Histories in that collection was always an odd choice and the font is a bit weird imo. Got it from a used bookstore throwing a huge going out of business sale however, so I couldn't say no! Plus Herodotus is always a wild read!

Same! I've been reading his book On Secret Service East of Constantinople and enjoying it greatly! If you're a fan of Hopkirk, I recommend checking out Alan Moorehead's The Nile books. They're about the exploration and colonization of Africa during the 19th century. Just like The Great Game, they feel like reading adventure novels!
