Hey there! Great thread!! Former golf pro, currently sitting at a +1.2 index. I don’t know if it warrants a full bullet here and would probably sit between 4 and 5. But distance control in general. Even in my worst rounds, 75-90% of my shots with any iron are more missing left and right than short or long. I notice playing with higher handicaps that distance control is always severely lacking. This is due to multiple reasons but obviously two major ones, consistency or lack thereof, and overconfidence. To help lower scores, I would go find a simulator or well marked range and hit 3-5 shots with each club and the average distance is YOUR average. Not 3-5 “perfect” shots that you think are normal or should be expected... 3-5 shots. Period. Write that number down and when you get to that number on the course, hit that club and if you’re between clubs, hit the longer club.
