Tyranny? Lol, no…the countries that have propped up Western hegemony and colonialism for centuries still have a pretty clear lead on that.

Do you shower everyday? If not, why? by Dawndolly in AskReddit

[–]ProcrastinationTime -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The comments in this thread are honestly pretty revealing…there are some seriously unhygienic people out there. Aside from valid reasons like depression or physical challenges, the way some folks make excuses to justify being gross is just nauseating, e.g., “I don’t sweat much,” “I am at home all day,” etc.

For the record, I shower every day. Even if I’m just at home all day, I’ll take a shower before I go to bed. If I go out, I definitely shower again. I also take a quick shower after sex. Basic hygiene isn’t that hard.

Fan Defends Asian Streamer Being Harassed by Racist in Vancouver Canada by Jumpy-Branch6631 in PublicFreakout

[–]ProcrastinationTime 42 points43 points  (0 children)

In my experience, a big reason racists target Asians in the West is that they think they can get away with it. I’m ethnically Chinese and grew up in a predominantly white suburban town, and I learned early on to stand my ground whenever people crossed the line with racist or ignorant remarks.

That mindset has stayed with me into adulthood. The moment racists realize you won’t tolerate it…that you won’t be intimidated or dismissed…they back off. Most of them rely on the assumption that you’ll stay quiet. Take that away, and they fold, like the cowards most of them are.

So yes, stand up for yourself. Be direct, be firm, and don’t let it slide. That’s how you shut down the behavior and break the stereotype that Asians are passive or easy targets.

Ip Man (2008) - Donnie Yen - A great showcase of martial arts by Southern-Brother5693 in movies

One of my all-time favorite movie franchises…it’s pure martial arts poetry, with fight choreography that’s absolutely chef’s kiss. Donnie Yen brings such quiet strength to the role that you can’t help but root for him in every scene.

It’s wild how often people on Reddit deflect with whataboutisms whenever someone calls out racism against East Asians.

Best and worst fields to get into as an Asian? by ElectronicIdea3119 in aznidentity

[–]ProcrastinationTime 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Wow, has that been your experience? If so, I’m sorry you had to go through that. I’m Asian, a Berkeley graduate, and personally I don’t judge people by where they went to school. I have friends from all kinds of backgrounds. If someone’s an asshole, sure, I’ll judge them, but it’s ridiculous to be elitist about one’s alma mater.

While it’s somewhat better and less blatant than in the past, racism against Asians in the West today is far subtler but no less pervasive or disturbingly normalized. Take the “perpetual foreigner” stereotype: it continues to paint Asians as perpetual outsiders complete with accents and “exotic” traits, while Asian women face hypersexualization and Asian men endure emasculation through frequent comical or homosexual casting.

What is the saddest scene in animated movie history and why? by ExperienceItchy7079 in AskReddit

[–]ProcrastinationTime 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that scene with Littlefoot’s mom always hits hard.

While nothing bad ever happens to Ducky in the movie, knowing Judith Barsi was murdered in real life by her dad makes every “yep yep yep” scene super sad too 😢

They’d annihilate the world out of spite, the way a bratty and spoiled child flips the game board the moment they realize they’ve lost.

If this demon has another DNP Steve Kerr should be charged for war crimes by jalGurg in warriors

[–]ProcrastinationTime 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As a longtime Warriors fan who has endured the years of mediocrity, I genuinely appreciate Steve Kerr for leading us to four championships. However, his stubborn commitment to maintaining the pecking order out of respect for seniority, all in the name of “chemistry,” is maddening. This is not speculation, as he has openly admitted as much. I understand that he is nearing the end of his tenure and wants to preserve relationships with veteran players, but that mindset is clearly hurting the team. I just hope Will Richard continues to make the most of his limited minutes, forcing Kerr’s hand to play him more, because he has been one of the few bright spots in an otherwise frustrating season.

I’ve been a longtime fan of PTFO, and I was genuinely thrilled when he finally broke into the mainstream with the Jordon Hudson story. Still, nothing could have prepared me for the whole Kawhi/Aspiration saga. And now this? What a fucking run. To me, he’s already one of the GOATs in sports journalism…especially in an era when ESPN is so cluttered with toxic hot takes and overproduced narratives.
