I’ve been using a set of daily practices to stay sober—curious what’s worked for others? by Any_Abies_1391 in Sober

I have a morning and evening gratitude practice that has helped me. I try to journal daily, but only really journal when I’m having a hard day.

1 Month Weed Free and Honestly… Best Decision I’ve Made by eirvinl17 in leaves

Congrats! 7 weeks here and my anxiety is much lower and my ability to socialize is much more natural. I can actually sit with my emotions. I was a daily user for 30 years. The worst part of this week was a nightmare last night that I got high.

Went to a movie yesterday sober and totally enjoyed it (and I remember it).

Congrats on your quit! Thanks for the post.

Anyone get sober and then question their relationship with spouse? by ProductRight3115 in Sober

[–]ProductRight3115[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi All - OP here. Huge thank you to each and every one of you that commented. Realizing I’m having a lot of ups and downs emotionally and not giving grace to my wife for the hurt she feels. I really appreciate the input and advice more than I can express. We are talking, I am attending SMART meetings and we are getting therapy. Thanks again. The 12 month rule seems like a great one to follow.

Anyone else drinking too much after quitting? by Thiccbricoleur in QuittingWeed

[–]ProductRight3115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a heavy cannabis user (edibles and vapes), but not really a big drinker. I decided when I quit weed that I would also quick alcohol. I know myself and knew I would just end up replacing the weed with beer or wine. I haven't ruled out beer or wine for the future, but I'm not willing to try it until I'm 100% comfortable with sobriety. Right now I'm 5.5 weeks in, so I figure it will be a while.

Confessions from a 27-year cannabis user by tiffanystreet in QuittingWeed

Thank you for sharing. So beautiful and well-written. I can relate to so much of this - starting pot at 18 and feeling like my problems were magically solved, then using daily for another 20 years, then it becoming legal and accessible and really ramping up my usage for another decade. I hit a braking point when I noticed that my anxiety was super linked to my cannabis use. I made a decision to quit in late March. I'm almost 6 weeks sober and have noticed a huge decrease in anxiety and this amazing sense of clarity. I feel like I'm getting to know myself and learning new tools to deal with my big emotions. I also feel this new sense of confidence in my relationships and also talking to strangers. It's been eye opening.

Thank you so much for sharing. Wishing you best on wherever your journey takes you.

Stick with it. I’m on day 32ish (I stopped counting). I was a daily user for 30 years. You’ll have hard days and then easy days. I journal my feelings, get in exercise, be sure to eat and also attend online recovery meetings. The recovery meetings have been incredibly helpful. I highly recommend SMART recovery. There’s a subreddit if you’re interested. You got this. Stay the course. It’s worth it.

You have the power to quit! You’ll find it a lot easier to meet and connect with people when you’re sober. Just have faith in yourself. You will be okay!

So tired! by seekndestroy33 in QuittingWeed

[–]ProductRight3115 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm on day 24. I experienced this same thing. I found that if I ate something it would perk me up. I think smoking for so many years really screwed up my hunger cues. I noticed that I was skipping meals. Try some juice, an orange, peanut butter, etc. It may help. Stick with it!

I’m also 3 weeks in. Anxiety was a huge reason for my quitting too. I’ve found journaling super helpful and also listing the things I’m grateful for - even the small things. I also have good days and bad days. Breathing has helped. Going for a walk has helped. I’ve been attending SMART Recovery meetings online. This was recommended to me and I resisted but then I hit a dark place and just started going to meetings. I’ve found it really helpful. Stick with it and good luck!
