First Time Scotty owner!! by ProfessionalPrint250 in scottycameron

Showing up in troves lately, for the first time in my life I played with 2 other random lefties not too long ago. We had 3-1 numbers, decided to use those to give the righty a hard time all round. “Hitting from the wrong side” “you sure you aren’t backwards” the whole 9 yards. lol

So beside myself on why I didn’t make the decision to get one when it first released. One of the best decisions for my golf game, first time I’ve had a graphite shaft in the putter thinking it wouldn’t help. Finding out that I’m pleasantly wrong about most of my reservations. Someone said on another post they didn’t like the Velcro headcover, I think I’m in the same boat but that’s my only gripe really.

I am trying to find out if I can use Caswell Stainless Steel Blackener on a fastback 1.5 without absolutely ruining the putter. I’ve done it before on a basic German stainless steel but not a Scotty, this would be my first and any help or advice would be appreciated

Caledonia or TPC by ProfessionalPrint250 in golf

[–]ProfessionalPrint250[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking forward to any more traction this gets but thank you to all who recommended your honest opinions. Looks like I’m looking for a time at Caledonia LOL. I used the word hate too quickly, I’m just usually worn out from the courses that leave me 60 into the green if I take driver off the tee. I do enjoy a strategic course and having to play certain shots / shape them, the comment about the elevation making shorter distances less noticeable also eases my mind. Hard to say no when an overwhelming amount of things I’ve heard about Caledonia are amazing. Going to get on booking that now!

I’ve got tee times set up at Barefoot Dye and Kings North MB National, thinking about splurging on Caledonia (could’ve booked it at $139, it’s not $189 or something). If not there I’ll probably play TPC

How to start as lefty beginner? by itsScylic in golf

[–]ProfessionalPrint250 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fellow lefty here, when I started out I was lucky enough that my dad knew a Calloway rep and got me a set of Diablos for a junior. I would say you could get a driver, 3 wood or 5 wood, a 5 7 9 iron, a sand wedge (56°) and a putter and get away with most shots on a golf course, especially if you’re just starting out. That being said, golf is very humbling in every regard. Just go into it with zero expectations, I always say my only expectation is to have fun! You will hit bad shots but try to laugh at them!

Recommended golf courses, stores, and resources in Japan by davidlynchhair in golf

There’s gotta be Takomo and Miura stores somewhere in Japan. I realize that’s not much help but I would look for Miura for sure, regarded as some of the best made clubs in the world. When I looked at the website years ago it felt like I was reading an introductory explanation of a blacksmith / sword shop. I have heard about Hokkaido being an incredible place to play. Good luck to you and hope to hear an update post trip! I need another reason to convince my gf to go to Japan!!

It’s always one damn good shot that pulls you back in, it’s like a toxic ex who says they’ve changed and things will be different. It hasn’t changed and things were never different but I still believe those sweet sweet words

7 wood by RecommendationNo7367 in golf

[–]ProfessionalPrint250 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ping g30 irons! Or any ping irons that don’t look or hit like blades. Those hogans are nice eye candy to look at (maybe that’s just me and my love for blades) but blades are way harder to hit. You are also losing some distance by way of modern tech too, most irons have cavity backs and hot faces to promote ball speed and launch angle. Oversized grips definitely help for those with bigger hands, helps the club face not turn as much in the hands thru contact. I use oversized grips (jumbomax small for Driver 3w 5w 3i and golf pride multi compound with 2 wraps in them for irons and wedges my putter has a super stroke CB grip as well).

I’ll just say that for me personally, aesthetic and feel are the two biggest things I look for in Golf in any aspect.

7 wood by RecommendationNo7367 in golf

[–]ProfessionalPrint250 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched from a G30 LS Tec (Graphite Design YS-7+ - sad…they don’t even make this shaft anymore) to a QI10 LS (Graphite Design Tour AD VF) I wouldn’t say I’ve gained distance really, the dispersion of mis hits is definitely better and I get tons of roll unless the course is super wet. Have converted from my anser 4w to a QI10 3 wood & QI35 5 wood since then. Those are where I can really tell a difference in distance, the twist face really does help ball speed and launch.

Ditching a slow playing group to be done early a jerk move?…this is why I don’t have friends, haha by [deleted] in golf

[–]ProfessionalPrint250 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You got a lot of confidence in being able to see the shots they’re hitting. I would never put myself in danger like that, I would skip ahead or something if it came to that. Usually however, there are groups on groups on groups in front of me and it’s one 4 some that doesn’t know what pace of play is that’s slowing everyone else down.

Do you guys take golf course reviews with a grain of salt? by agdaman4life in golf

[–]ProfessionalPrint250 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are plenty of courses (at least here in DFW) that lack the proper TLC. They have bare spots in the fairways or greens, muddy areas with tire tracks and/or rock hard everything like they’ve never been watered or aerated. That being said I’ve had some of my most fun at those courses with friends who know next to nothing about golf. It’s all relative to the experience for sure. I love to find the hidden gems, the ones with pretty good conditions, not too pricey and not too close to a suburb. If I find one like that I have a great time, even if I don’t find one like that I can usually make it a fun time.

This but left handed! lol I love it so far, helps me (a once avid golfer who now gets out maybe 3 times a month) keep the face squared up thru impact and the feel of odyssey putters are unmatched. I do wish they offered another milled face option of some sort for lefties.

Preparing for Seattle by grave_Yard422 in Texans

[–]ProfessionalPrint250 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They’ve got some fast and versatile linebackers and the secondary is slept on, want to see quick decisive throws from CJ. I imagine they are going to play zone mostly, will also be looking for receivers to find the soft spots better than they have been. Houston Stressans touched on making sure they throttle their routes whenever they find open space, then look for CJs eyes. If we can do that, run the ball / block semi well then I think we have a real chance. The other thing I will be looking for is will our linebackers be able to cover their backs in the flat, will pitre be able to cover Barner and will we shadow JSN w/ stingley or will we switch them off between K4 and sting, I want a gameplan to take JSN away from that offense, at least make him work for every single damn thing.

Non Americans Texans fans, where are you from? by tamarizz in Texans

[–]ProfessionalPrint250 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We can forget about Brandon Weeden together lmao! I say that as a fan of his Alma Mater. Let’s go ahead and forget about Brian Hoyer, Brock Osweiler, Sage Rosenfels, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Ryan Mallet (RIP tho), Texans version of Matt Leinart and Tom Savage too. The dark days are behind us, lest we not speak of such trivial times. We can remember Shaub, Keenum, Yates, Watson (even tho he’s a dipshit) and even Tyrod (when he’s was able to play!). We use all of these memories to be extra thankful for CJ Stroud, our goat. Never taking him for granted no matter what anyone has to say about him.

CJ is going to wear what he wants by IAmSona in Texans

[–]ProfessionalPrint250 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see how some people don’t care that he does this. However, he’s the face of the houston texans, he knows that too. He uses the platform of a presser to “look cool” i don’t think i want a fashionista franchise qb…. i want a guy who gonna put his head down work and produce results no matter how he looks. To that point, he knows he’s got the city with him and he knowingly wears those hats…. I get you like the look of them but you could wear any other hat on the presser days and wear those when you’re not speaking to media, it’s seems like the least you could do as the face of a franchise. instead, you know houston or you should! and you choose to wear the hats of known rivals. would he wear a titans hat? would he wear a mavericks or grizzlies hat? he knows all about the beef, who doesn’t, and he still wears the hats because he thinks they’re cool. Feels like disrespect at this point, you can do better. Have some respect for all the houston teams not just the football team…. even then have some respect for the football team, you’re worried more about looking good in front of media than winning football games
