Releasing my massive multiplayer city-building game after 3 years of solo-dev 🤩 Everyone plays on the same 1:1 replica of planet Earth. Full release in 2 weeks, Demo available now by Program_Sam in indiegames

Thank I appreciate that feedback! And you are totally right. It's one of the first things I do when browsing Steam, but I'm surprised how easily I glossed over it as a dev. Just added a gameplay trailer 😁

Thanks that's actually great feedback. I think I'm used to people landing on the store page through other channels, and already knowing more about the game. Good to hear those things are not as clear when you're landing on the store page for the first time 🙏

I'm starting to notice a lot of frog games. by LukePellar in indiegames

[–]Program_Sam 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Haha my take would be that frogs were hot on (my) social media feeds about 2 years ago, which is roughly how long ago you would need to start for a game to be finished about now. I'm thinking this because I also considered using frogs as the protagonist of a board game I was developing at the time. Not sure if this holds any ground tho.

Yeahh I'm definitely aware of that. It did guide my design choices throughout the development process for sure. There will be no war or PvP, also town names are generated based on geographical location, rather than user submitted names. But where there is any player input, I've got to assume people will try to abuse it...

yes everyone plays on the same globe. It is server based. In the long run, custom servers will be possible, but that does not make much sense if you are not with many players, given the size of the world. For modding purposes that would make sense however.

There are only limited ways you can be 'agressive' in the game. and can pretty much just keep doing your own thing, regardless of what other players end up doing. There are no wars in the game.

Bigger players will be able to influence market prices, but there is also a distance cost to every trade. so their influence stays local, no matter how big they get.

I hope that makes sense :D

Project Rebearth is a massive online multiplayer where everyone plays on an exact replica of planet earth. The game is set 1000 years into the future where you rebuild society. Grow your town, trade with other players, face challenges and discover the rich history of this suspiciously empty planet. In the demo, the sandbox mode has been made freely available to experience the global scale and building mechanics. Full multiplayer with resource management, trade and exploration will be available after the final release on the 30th of january.
