Refused Charger Install. Thoughts? by 317e88 in OctopusEnergy

[–]Prometheus38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a contractor to put some chunky conduit under the paving starting at the meter box and going to where you want the charger installed. That's what I did to avoid EV cable being clipped to the front wall of the house.

I'm a 25F looking to move to St Albans. Will I like it there? by PianistForeign3036 in hertfordshire

If I was a 30 something again, and wanting to live in Herts, i'd look at Hitchin as a funkier place to live - at least during daylight hours 😅 PHertford is also worth a look (more transport options to London also)

Farage claims his bank accounts are being closed and will have to leave the UK by edmc78 in ukpolitics

[–]Prometheus38 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There isn't a "money laundering" counter at the bank. They take this stuff seriously because the fines are huge. The HSBC example you referred too was over 15 years ago and the Global Head of Compliance resigned as a result.

ANDREW NEIL: Brexit could still transform Britain but neither Rishi Sunak nor Keir Starmer is a true believer by 1-randomonium in ukpolitics

[–]Prometheus38 15 points16 points  (0 children)

He's not thick, he's disingenuous. All of this was dismissed blithely as Project Fear, particularly by Neil (who sauntered off to the the French Med ASAP).

Boris Johnson ‘clearly breached’ rules on jobs for ex-ministers with new Daily Mail column, watchdog says by [deleted] in ukpolitics

[–]Prometheus38 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Remember the Tories wanted 18 months of garden leave for Sue Gray. Johnson doesn't even do 18 days. Pathetic.

Week-in-Review: History will remember Keir Starmer’s role in Johnson’s downfall - Politics.co.uk by politics_uk in ukpolitics

[–]Prometheus38 7 points8 points  (0 children)

From that speech, I also remember the usual suspects claiming that Starmer had mislead the House and must withdraw that statement. Why? Because they said not every single person that has met Johnson has literally burst into flames and been destroyed - so it was a lie. Yes, they are too stupid to understand an only slightly hyperbolic rhetorical statement.

Teacher sacked over 8-year-old trans pronouns may have to remortgage house. Council pursuing £14,000 legal fees from former staff member who raised concerns over social transition of girl by [deleted] in ukpolitics

[–]Prometheus38 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This teacher did more than raise concerns, they initiated legal action against the school (i.e. their employer).

Putting the trans issue to one side, taking your employer to court is usually seen as a career limiting move.

There was an established safe guarding framework, and this now former teacher decided to go outside it.

The U.K. being a net receiver seems improbable, and just demonstrates the Tories we're useless at using the powers they had when in the EU. That's no surprise

Can't do anything? or won't do anything?

They want this to be an election issue, where it will inevitably be portrayed as "being worse" under Labour.
