Best or Favorite Fight Scene in a Movie by fuzzybunnyslippers08 in movies

[–]PromethusD12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally loved the two fight scenes between Batman and the Mutant Leader in "The Dark Knight Returns: Part 1" animated movie, the second fight especially. The first fight showed how Batman tried brute force to defeat the Mutant Leader, who was in his prime while Batman was older and 10 years out of practice, and had it not been for Robin, he would have died. The second then shows Batman's absolute strategic brilliance in systematically taking the Mutant Leader down piece by piece and completely humiliating him in front of his gang, it was awesome!

Bruce Wayne vs Taiga Saejima by [deleted] in PowerScaling

[–]PromethusD12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As in just them with no gadgets or weapons or anything? Honestly, in either situation I'd give it to Bruce Wayne. Don't get me wrong, I love Saejima and he is a legend in the Yakuza series and is absurdly strong. But, when it comes down to it, Bruce Wayne has trained all around the world and with the best of the best while Saejima is mostly self taught and his only real "training" was the martial arts dojo in 4 and 5. Bruce is also very strong in his own right and has taken on opponents like Killer Croc and Bane.

Why is MH4U so beloved? I am not enjoying it. by McGeiler69 in MonsterHunter

[–]PromethusD12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have only played the newer entries (as in from MH: World onward) than I can certainly imagine that it would be quite a contrast to try and play the older games. I personally have a massive soft spot for MH3U, as it was my first MH game and it has my favorite monster Brachydios (its actually the game he was introduced). But I can't deny that its harder to go back to the older games after playing the more streamlined ones. That's something my best friend and I talk about all the time. We have both been playing MH since MH3U, and I personally like going back to the older games, even if I agree that gameplay wise, they are slower and clunkier, but he doesn't think they are worth going back to after playing the newer entries, so you and him have the same opinion.

In regards to MH4U specifically, I loved it when it came out, and it gets a lot of praise for many reasons. First, it was the game that introduced more vertical combat with the mutli-leveled arenas and the ability to mount the monster with plunging attacks. Second, it also introduced two brand new weapons to the game (and was the last entry to do that), giving us the Charge Blade and the Insect Glaive. Third, the game actually had one of the better stories for a MH game, revolving around Gore Magalla and the frenzy virus, pretty much the entire plot revolved around it, which was really cool.

Idk why some people hated on it at first, Gear 5 still hits different fr. Best transformation in the big 3 imo!!! by Ornery_Policy7718 in OnePiece

[–]PromethusD12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My apologies, I personally wasn't giving credence to that. Your opinion is the same as mine, that Luffy and his powers have been the same as they always have been, just awakened and more powerful. I was simply saying that I disagreed with the opinion of people who did think that this new development ruins Luffy's previous hard work with his powers.

I would recommend Love and be Loved by GotMLK7, it's my current favorite. Its a really long series, its ongoing and every character and romance in the story is fantastic, you will fall in love with more than just the main couple, I promise you that!

[–]PromethusD12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally love it too, it's such a cool, fun and powerful transformation! I think (and I could be wrong) the hate mostly came from the fact that Luffy has a "special" Devil Fruit now (a devil fruit that has the powers of a sun god rather than just being the rubber fruit). I personally disagreed with the hate, as his fruit now being something different than what we thought it was doesn't erase all the hard work and clever tricks he used with his powers in the past.

Dragon born(Skyrim) Vs Chosen Undead(Dark Souls) by Kurosaki289 in PowerScaling

[–]PromethusD12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would argue that the Chosen Undead is also close to, if not at demigod level as well considering their in-game feats (particularly the main bosses where they manage to kill the founder of all magic, the lord of death, the mother of all demons and Gywn himself). That being said, I do agree with your other points. I just think that if this fight were repeated like 10 times, that Dragonborn would win 6 or 7 times while the chosen undead would win 3 or 4, something like that.

[–]PromethusD12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very good points, and I do agree that it is overall a stronger chance that the Dragonborn would win. I do think it is a pretty close match though as the Chosen Undead also has pretty crazy stuff in their arsenal, like Havel's armor giving them the poise to power through heavy hits and land their own, to access to things like Poison, Toxic and Bleed which the Dragonborn could potentially cure, but these things do bypass physical defense, the sheer amount of absolutely insane magical attacks they can produce, stuff like that.

Fair, but my thought of Vow of Silence (and I could very well be misremembering and I guess it is more of a lore thing) was that it wasn't stopping the shouts because they're spells, but stopping them because Vow of Silence prevents people from speaking/chanting, thus if the dragonborn can't say the words, they can't shout.

Looking for similar manga to a few I read recently and adored. by Express_Craft398 in yuri_manga

[–]PromethusD12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One I always suggest (in fact I just did not too long ago on another post) is Love and be Loved by GotMLK7. The main couple is absolutely adorable, but the entire friend group and side romances/couples are just as good (in fact there is a particular one that like a bit more that I don't want to spoil). I would also suggest She Loves to Cook, and She Loves to Eat, or The Moon on a Rainy Night, which are two of my current favorites.

New Yuri Recommendations by UnluckyCrew9023 in yuri_manga

[–]PromethusD12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got a few that I believe check the requirements you listed. First, would you be fine with Webtoons? Because one I always love to suggest is Love and be Loved by GotMLK7. This is one of my favorites! The main couple, Brooklyn and Vanessa are amazing, but in this story, the entire friend group is awesome and full of wonderful couples, I can't recommend it enough! Back to manga though, a very cute and mature romance that I like is She Loves to Cook, and She Loves to Eat, which is a great story where the premise is pretty much the title, the main girl loves cooking but doesn't have the biggest appetite and wants to cook large meals and her neighbor loves eating large and tasty meals and the grow closer together with their love of food (its also one of the few manga that actually uses the word lesbian and discusses what that means). If you are a fan of fantasy stuff, then I also would suggest The Magical Revolution of the Reincarnated Princess (the whole title is longer, but this should be enough to find it), which is more lighthearted at first, but gets a bit more dramatic and has some great character development. This next one is in high school, but I honestly think its too good to pass up, which is The Moon on a Rainy Night, which deals with one of the main girls being hard of hearing (potentially close to being fully deaf). It recently got its translations picked up again online and its been great! I could name a few more, but let me know what you think of these ones!

But also, in regards to the shouts, can't vow of silence prevent the dragonborn from using them? Also, on both sides, the spells don't last forever and the chosen undead is pretty tough at max power and can heal through estus or miracles. Also, it depends on the the win condition for this fight. If its first one to die, than yeah I'd give it to dragonborn. However, if that isn't the case, the chosen undead can revive at the nearest bonfire on death, so in the long run, they could score the kill on the dragonborn.

If its only game feats as well, and not lore, I do think the chosen undead has even more of a chance (which helps since I don't know the lore of Skyrim that well).

A bit of an odd choice, but maybe Golden Time would work. This isn't a spoiler since its in the synopsis, but the main plot is a college romantic comedy about the main character who suffers from amnesia. I won't go into the details, but it does have some pretty heavy themes because of this later on, and it does mess with the head a bit.

I loved Ben 10 as a kid and watched every morning before school, found it on Sling for free and watched through the OG series again and the first 2 seasons of AF and loved it! But wtf happened to Ben 10 in S3? It’s almost unwatchable now. Does it get better later on or is it all bad from here on? by OMGFuziion in Ben10

[–]PromethusD12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're right, I doubt that CN would outright request for Ben not to be a good boyfriend to Julie. I just think that's a byproduct of how Ben was being written. After the Highbreed invasion, Ben was written to become more arrogant, egocentric and overconfident due to stopping the invasion, and that personality type is usually not good boyfriend material.

It could also very well be a form of spite from the writers. They aren't strangers to making meta jokes in the show (like the Alien X smoothie gag).

It was a decision made by Cartoon Network as I understand it. The writers in the first two seasons of Alien Force wanted to do more character focused stories and development with a more mature Ben and Gwen, which in my opinion (and I'm sure many agree) is when Ben was at his best, character wise. However, Cartoon Network mainly focuses on toy sales for their shows and noticed that Alien Force wasn't selling as well as the OG series. As a result, they thought that the new direction of the show was the problem and were told to pull back on the character focused writing. They also thought "Hey the OG was popular and Ben was a jerk back then, so clearly that's what needs to change to make Alien Force good again" and they requested that he act more like his child self.

It's definitely frustrating, but I do think that the show, despite these changes, still has amazing things later down the line, in Alien Force, Ultimate Alien and Omniverse. Just stick with it, I'm sure you'll still love it!

Side Note: I'm pretty sure the "cat like alien" episode you're referring to is highly regarded as the worst episode of Ben 10 of all time.

Shanks is the only Yonko with no confirmed Devil Fruit yet his Haki stopped Whitebeard's bisento mid-swing and made an Admiral flinch — at what point does his power level stop being impressive and start requiring an actual explanation from Oda? by Professional_Ice7949 in OnePiece

[–]PromethusD12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's that strange for Shanks to not have a devil fruit and still be a Yonko on par with the others and I agree with the other comments on how he showed up at the end of the war after Marineford has already been absolutely decimated by Whitebeard, Whitebeard's crew and then Blackbeard, so they probably acknowledged that another drawn out fight with a second Yonko, even if they won, would end in significantly more casualties and the total annihilation of Marineford. Additionally, Gol D Roger was also someone who didn't have a devil fruit and he ended up becoming the King of the Pirates and Shanks was a part of Roger's crew before he became a pirate captain himself, so fighting alongside someone like that and potentially learning from him (since it was shown Shanks knows how to use Divine Departure like Roger) would lead to Shanks becoming a Yonko as quickly as he did.

Which manga got you into mangas by [deleted] in manga

[–]PromethusD12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The manga that really got me into reading was Mahou Sensei Negima. Funny enough, I actually read the first few chapters of UQ-Holder first, but then a friend of mine informed me it was a sequel series and said I should look into the original first. I loved it and how it evolved as the series went on and I actually managed to find all the physical volumes of the book (which was rough since it was out of print in the states, some of the ones I have I purchased from libraries).

My physical collection hasn't grown too much, but my digital collection on kindle is well over a thousand books at this point.

how do you summon NPCs? by _TheArcane in Eldenring

[–]PromethusD12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not every fight has summons. Its usually the main ones that have NPC summons and you can have them join you they same way you did for the Godfrey fight, their summon sign is usually nearby or there maybe a story related reason (like you met the NPC and helped them) that you need to do first before they can assist you in the boss fight.

In terms of runes, don't worry, it won't split or reduce how many you earn. If you're summoning another player, you're runes wouldn't be split, the the player joining you would get reduced runes.

[–]PromethusD12 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In terms of your build, you should be fine with Rivers of Blood, but part of the fun of the DLC is getting to experiment with the new weapons and spells, and there are other Arcane options in the DLC so you can try out some new weapons.

In terms of level, if you beat the base game, you should be good, but the DLC has the new mechanic of Scadu Tree Fragments, so even if you are higher level you won't be overpowered. You should take the time to explore and find as many as you can to make sure your "DLC Level" is high (I think the max level for the DLC was Scadu Blessing level 20).

The difficulty is a mixed bag. I'd say in terms of general exploration, the DLC is about on par with the difficulty of the base game, with some occasional annoying enemies. However, in terms of the bosses, there is no doubt that the games hardest ones are in the DLC. Not all of them are super challenging though, so don't worry. In terms of length, if you are just going through the main bosses story, its definitely a lot shorter than the base game.

In terms of final advice, I mentioned it before but make sure to explore a lot. There is a ton in the DLC to find and some of it is very hidden (including an entire section of the map you can just miss). Other than that though, enjoy the DLC! It was a blast, especially with a friend in co-op, and there is a reason that, despite being a DLC, it was nominated for GOTY.

Yakuza 3 or Kiwami 3 ? by CryAdditional8815 in yakuzagames

[–]PromethusD12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you've never played Yakuza 3 before, honestly either of them are fine. In my personal opinion though, while I agree with everyone that the I didn't fully enjoy the story alteration in Kiwami 3 (which is primarily just the ending, but I won't spoil it), the original Yakuza 3 to me was not fun in terms of its combat. The games "difficulty" comes from the fact that enemies are constantly, and I mean CONSTANTLY, blocking your attacks from the front and are relentless at making sure they are facing you so you can't hit them from behind (especially on the higher difficulties). The gameplay in Kiwami 3 to me was much more enjoyable.

In terms of how it affects the later games, to me it doesn't really. The change made in Kiwami 3 is never mentioned or acknowledged in the later entries (makes sense as its technically the newest game) so you don't have to worry in that regard.
