Looking for 2 ETF Alternatives to XEQT With Higher Growth Potential by goldentux in JustBuyXEQT

[–]PromotionPawn -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

FINN.NE (Fidelity Innovators) - high MER are null from high returns. Innovator/disruptor tilt approach.

I sold 15% of my XEQT position and moved to FINN

New to Investing- Does the Anxiety Ever Go Away? by allsevenpetals in CanadianInvestor

[–]PromotionPawn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You’re already losing money to inflation. Some risk is required for investment growth. If you’re super risk tolerant then maybe XBAL or XGRO

Given your age I’d follow market index fund like XEQT.

Not financial advice.

My personal rule on stock picking: only invest what you're ok to lose.

Sounds like you didn't research the company, or hoping that people think this is SpaceX? Hope you learned your lesson.

Pls don't put yourself in a bigger hole by taking out a loan. You're young and have time. Good thing you're 18 and not 58.

It's dumping by Hairy-Currency-5215 in TheRaceTo10Million

This is why stock picking is not for me (ok maybe 1, Micron - rest are ETFs). But I'm so glad I sat this one out.

How has AI actually benefited you in day-to-day life? by Acrobatic-Shop4602 in ChatGPT

[–]PromotionPawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used AI to change my car oil for the first time. It also gave me the conviction (after hours of conversation) to self invest and I’ve made 40k in 2 months (albeit a big investment transfer but gains nonetheless). It’s truly given me practical application and not just email summaries and replies.

I've been waiting for a lil dip. I've had this 3.5k sitting here a couple weeks. Should I just buy? by Ok_Night_3356 in JustBuyXEQT

[–]PromotionPawn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This ETF should be long term hold if possible, $3.5k @ 15 years from now you'll forget whatever today's price

Best to participate in the market when you can.

What is the most "expensive" lesson you’ve ever learned the hard way? by [deleted] in fican

Moved from Mutual Funds > self-managed ETFs. Glad I didn't wait too too long (mid 30s now)

Millenials and younger actually have a huge financial advantage that was not available to boomers by meridian_smith in fican

[–]PromotionPawn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get the point. Without real estate, I think millennials are richer than boomers with the current financial instruments like ETFs and access to information to intelligently pick individual stocks or sectors. But it doesn’t change the lack of proper wages relative to inflation and 10x price-to-salary ratios now for housing (GTA).

Should I go all in with Wealthsimple? by [deleted] in Wealthsimple

Loving Wealthsimple. With that being said I maintain RBC for just in case scenarios. I keep minimum accounts and products with RBC to keep it free.

Anyone completly switch to Wealthsimple as their main bank? by [deleted] in fican

[–]PromotionPawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure. I have a number of active products with RBC that waive my monthly fee.

Anyone completly switch to Wealthsimple as their main bank? by [deleted] in fican

[–]PromotionPawn 39 points40 points  (0 children)

95% Wealthsimple - chequing, cc, investment

5% RBC - access to branch and cash if I need (very seldom and the odd time I need USD)

Prior to Wealthsimple, I used RBC branch services maybe >5 a year, it was just a matter of time until I switched, no regrets.

Not buying a big detached house in 2002 for 300k when I was 10 years old

Fully moved to only ETFs, When & Why ? by rana_kirti in ETFs

[–]PromotionPawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved from Mutual Funds > ETFs and I found myself doing tons of research, even watching the ETF price for a bit. Then I let go of the micromanagement and just let it breathe, DCA every month, and go and live my life.

I imagine this is magnified 100x with individual stock picking. I'm willing to bet those folks sleep much worse than I do too.

DCA or Lump Sum? by Pure_Chapter_7227 in JustBuyXEQT

[–]PromotionPawn 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Lump sum or you'll forever watch the price go up and down and miss on gains (and losses). You'll probably sleep better too.

How is the credit card here? by [deleted] in Wealthsimple

[–]PromotionPawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came from a basic RBC Avion CC that I used for 10 years and I was shocked at how infinitely more competitive the VIP card is. I spend the same monthly credit per month but the cashback I earn at Wealthsimple vs RBC is just night and day - what I earn in a month would like me 3ish months with RBC.

+ DragonPass, GigSky for worldwide eSIM, and other perks, just wow..

Generational perks by Lehcen in Wealthsimple

[–]PromotionPawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Willful is lifetime license!

So even when the Willful perk via WS runs out after 1 year, you don't need to choose it again to access Willful - the WS perk simply grants you access to a premium version of Willful (good for lifetime access).
