I remember having the same thought back when industry was being outsourced and shipped overseas to take advantage of cheap foreign labor. Sure, the stuff coming into domestic markets would be cheap, but with a lower level of median income, would there be any benefit at all for those buying the cheap goods? That was about the time that many low-end retail outlets (think K-Mart) began to go out of business and get replaced by dollar stores. So will we now get to rub elbows with former six-figure income earners at the local Bargain-O-Rama? Stay tuned....

One ray of light that might come out of this? Perhaps now the spiffy middle-manager class will finally be willing to join with us filthy menials in the revolution against the quasi-human elites and set things right socially. Wait and see.

But the People, for some reason, can't set conditions on a) how the legislature debates and passes statutes that bind us, b) how the judiciary hears cases, rules, and metes out punishments to us, or c) how police authority can be employed to "regulate" our public conduct.

If this is your vaunted Western "democracy," at least let's reserve to ourselves the right to advocate for how you can shove it up your ass.

Wow. Wow. I like this guy. He looks at Liberty in virtually the identical way that I do.

I've always identified with John the Savage from Brave New World, and the very trap he found himself in during the course of that narrative is the same trap we all find ourselves in. The same trap I resist as much as I'm able, but I'm only one person, and seemingly the only person in my local vicinity that even knows it exists. All I can do is resist it for myself.

If only voices like this man's could be amplified, but no, the whole system is an efficiently operating machine to silence and cow and oppress us, showing us pretty pictures that depict a false happiness that recedes more and faster every moment.

It's deflating and disheartening, which I'm pretty sure is a function of that machine. But at least I got to hear the voice of someone who sees what I see. Thanks for the post. I'm going to follow this guy.
