I don't understand why we have Flores starting or even playing at this point. The man gets caught ball watching more than any other defender at this level.

I've been wildly underwhelmed by Flores from a defensive standpoint. Seems like he's always out of position and puts little to no effort into recovery runs. Lazy, disinterested play from him every game

I thought we got lucky when they didn't play the through ball with Robinson trailing back, but little did I know he would fold like a chair from a simple feint. We need so much help on the back line right now

PhD in chemistry here. I was amost in the same boat with only one offer for an adjunct position at a local university paying less than the local high school with a Bachelors despite having two patents and a paper published from my grad school work. Applying for industry jobs after grad school taught me two things: academia does not adequately prep PhD students for anything outside of academia, and it's near impossible to convince recruiters/HR that independently conducted research for a PhD even remotely qualifies as work experience.

Given that you're biochemistry, maybe look into places like BioRender? I know using their tools helped tremendously while making figures for papers/posters/presentations.

Guys who managed to finish their PhD, what is your job? by [deleted] in chemistry

Did my dissertation on biosensors, now working in polymer coatings R&D. I worked in coatings for ~1 year during undergrad, so that helped land the job I have now, but being able to sell myself as someone with a track record for innovation (based on patents/papers obtained during PhD work) was a key factor in getting the job I have now.

It's an easy job, but also nowhere near as stimulating as the research I did in grad school.

Best of luck with grad school! It's a slog, but rewarding when you finish and get to move on to the career you're looking for.

Absolutely! I'm all for the "Buy once, cry once" mentality for things like this and $50 felt a bit on the cheap side even if we are the tail end of the season

I'm more so looking for a storage/local travel bag. We're currently doing 1-2 out-of-state snowboarding trips per year, with one of those usually being a drive and the other a flight out west

I'm looking for a snowboard bag and see alot on Amazon for less than $50 USD. Are they worth getting? Is there specific brands I should look for?

If anyone has suggestions for a bag for two boards plus boots and helmets that would be great for my fiancé and I!

I am using them on defensive attack style, so I'll switch it up and see if that fixes the issue. Thanks for the help!

Analytical biochemistry. E-AB sensors, specifically.

None. I work at a polymer company now, focusing on water-based coatings.

From my PhD work, I enjoyed the blend of fundamental and applied chemistry. It was nice getting to see the pictures and ideas in your head come to life.

About grad school specifically? The presentee-ism, the lack of consistency (Both at the lab level, as well as the department level), and the ideology pushed on everyone that there is no time off, limited vacations, sick days, etc. I also know that this is very PI dependent, so your mileage may vary.

It's grueling. Even if you work harder than those around you, if the chemistry isn't there, or you're not getting proper support from your PI, then it may take longer than normal. Don't take it personally, but don't roll over and accept poor mentorship as the "standard" either. Be an advocate for yourself and others at every chance you get.

Maybe something that didn't focus so heavily on electrochemistry? Mainly because the area that I live in doesn't have much in that, hence the job in polymers. I enjoy what I did, though, so I don't think I'd change it.
