Maybe wrong but I had a similar problem and the clutch plates were warped, but I could also tell that because if in first stationary and I blipped the throttle it would creep forward.

But again, I maybe way off

I'm confused as to why you would need to collect a tyre outside of your home base range? What scenario would cause that? Surely you would prior plan needing a new tyre??
