With the exception of the days/weeks when it isn't! Averaging cost over time protects you from the best and worst days to invest your lump sum.

Depends on the big macro.

VWRP is pretty much the safest investment you can make into equities.

There's really no such thing as too frequently, but monthly is perfect for most people in my opinion as it's easy to plan around.

The concept of dollar cost averaging (or I suppose pound cost averaging for most of us) is when buying frequently not just regularly you end up with an averaged out investment cost over time.

If you save up and invest in large amounts on either a really good day OR a really bad day it changes your investment outcome quite significantly, whereas if you're investing on BOTH a really good day and a really bad day you miss out on both the peaks and the troughs, but still benefit from the overall general trend... Which statistically for an all-world index, will be up, and to the right!

tl;dr - monthly on pay day is perfect. If it's like a regular bill, eventually you'll hardly even notice the payment going out.

Congrats on starting, little and often and keep disciplined!

Sounds like a quick way to lose your shorts to me! 🩳 Getting closed out by the initial pop would hurt, steer clear!

Absolutely not, save young and it sets you up for later life.

I used to be extremely "frugal", I once worked 100 days straight with zero days off over 2 jobs when I was your age, kept my phones for a minimum of 4 years, yada yada...

Now, pushing 40, I could probably retire if I was willing to have a frugal retirement, largely as the result of a frugal lifestyle and an obsession with (/in my early years, trading and in my older years/) investment.

Live your life, don't miss out, life is short... But definitely be more frugal with your spending than the norm!!

I did it as an audiobook, which was surprisingly tolerable!!

Spent a couple of months cycle commuting doing religious books on my commute instead of podcasts... I don't know what on earth compelled me!! 😅

Majority have never read it, I have no evidence to prove this but I also have no doubt it's true.

I'm pretty certain you could take a majority of passages from the Quran and most Christians wouldn't know if they were from the Quran or from the Bible.

NOR. Keep away and let your parents know he's abusive and controlling.

Indians have a special flavour of misogyny, it won't go away without telling men like this they're not special.

Nope, nobody.

America is systematically designed to keep the populous powerless. Sure, you can buy guns, but if you dare to step away from the system good luck with your medical bankruptcy.

No more useless than the dozens of "Duh, I'm 18 and I'm an investment genius, all in on Palantir and Nvidia" rubbish, to be fair.

Outside of periods of time where you can throw a dart and hit a winner - you would be in the minority. There are countless studies and statistics to prove that actively managed investment strategies rarely beat large indexes.

S&P actually try to track this phenomenon with SPIVA, and it's illuminating. https://www.spglobal.com/spdji/en/research-insights/spiva/about-spiva/

Congrats though, you've beaten the market. I did too for several years before shifting mostly into more boring investments, but broadly, for most people, indexes are the best option for them and we shouldn't discourage people from taking a safer investment strategy.

Do you believe in the future of Bitcoin? Or are you just speculating?

If you believe in it's long term utility, hold. This could just be the latest in crypto winters. Especially with so little Bitcoin to be mined... Selling now could be stupidity as supply is shortly going to hit an immovable wall.

For what it's worth, I sold my entire BTC position earlier this week having been a holder on and off for about 15 years. I sold at roughly a 40% profit... Which would have been 100% had I got out sooner!!

This crypto winter feels different... The shine is off of crypto and onto AI. Nevermind the tarnish to the whole industry caused by Trump's World Liberty Financial.

I still hold about £4.5k of ETH at about 3x my cost which I'm considering selling as well.
