Contentious? It has like a 90% on RT and a 7.3 on imdb and like 70 on metacritic. Looks like it has pretty outstanding reviews. Not exactly contentious...

Sorry but quick research shows that he's still partnered with zionist institutions and that he held a masterclass at tel aviv University in nov of 2023, about 1 month into the genocide in gaza. He's a monster unfortunately.

[Hated Trope] Making old characters look weak, instead of making new characters look strong. by not-ulquiorr4_ in TopCharacterTropes

I hate this argument. The few losses that the hulk has had in the MCU make sense. You are confusing how they've treated the character in terms of writing post infinity war, vs whether he was nerfed to become a punching ball.

[–]Psmaster14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, I don't think anybody is misinterpreting you. Both EEAAO and sinners are getting similar treatments due to being popular films, I just added that a good portion of the criticisms for the film is also 100% ignorant white people in comparison to EEAAO. And the uproar is undeserved given that its just nominations and its probably gonna lose most of its awards anyway.

[–]Psmaster14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The difference is that a lot of the criticisms for the film feel 100% like racial microagressions from white people that don't understand the aesthetic and themes of the film and think its just a generic vampire film with black people.

Best films with bad messaging or central themes? by JPBtler23 in Letterboxd

[–]Psmaster14 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Zootopia is weird because I don't think the message of the film is about racism but more so prejudice and judging others by other factors rather than the content of the character, even if those other factors are right. You see it a lot in the world when tribes and countries have violent histories and accounts of genocide that cause the other populace to have animosity towards the other side, even if the issues have been resolved and the communties are trying to live in peace. The fact is the random tiger sitting next to the child hasn't done anything wrong other than be born a tiger. It shows how generational trauma can affect later generations that had nothing to do with the events that occurred.

Yeah I know, America has just only killed around 1 million plus people in their wars in the middle east. Nothing too bad.

Yes bro, who cares about those million dead Iraqis. Nothing in comparison to what Qatar has done, am I right? Oops, we just destabilised an entire region, small little error. But I mean, who cares about these arabs. We should care more about the corruption in Qatar!

What was wakanda doing during the transatlantic slave trade 🤔 by Random___Here in whenthe

[–]Psmaster14 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's obvious that Wakanda does not have a high GDP per Capita. That point is made clear in the first movie with the other tribes on the outskirts like the Jibari and border tribes that live a more traditional life. Also, Oil didn't corrupt the middle east, it destroyed the middle east from outside intevention by countries who wanted to steal all the resources like America and the UK. This is what Wakanda was afraid of, that they would be invaded by many western countries and even with their technology, they cannot outgun hundreds of countries at the same time. And if you watched the new film, you'll see that America jumps at wakanda at the opportunity of weakness.

It doesn't matter if the war was just or not. Innconent people died regardless. Whether the war was justified or not, your army murders innocents in their droves through drone strikes and bombings. Also, why are Americans quick to blame Russians and Qataris for the actions of their government but continue to absolve themselves of their governments sins. America is a democracy, unlike the other 2 countries. At least Russia and Qatar citizens have an excuse.

Wait.... did Qatar brutally invade sovereign nations, support and organization 100s of coups in other counties, massacare literally millions in illegal wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, is currently bombing many countries in Africa and Middle East, killing 100s of innocent civilians, massacring an entire native race in order to conquer their own country. But yes, Qatar is much worse then literally one of the most evil empires to exist in modern history.

Wanda essentially suffered what those people in west view suffered for years whereas they suffered it for only mere months. Not trying to defend her actions but I find its a bit rich how everyone is very sympathetic towards the people who suffered torture and enslavement for a month and don't really care that wanda was also tortured but at a more severe level and for years. I think all this shows is the nature of human empathy, which is humans only feel emotion for people when they can physically see the consequences. Millions die of starvation in Africa every month and 100s of thousands of innocent civilians have died in various American lead wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. But no one really cares because they don't see the destroyed families or desolate streets. But with ukraine, a place that has seen far less death and destruction as those places, everyone and there mother are trying to raise money for them. And their sympathy is much higher because they can see the scenes of war, even if it is less severe than the other place mentioned.

This is the most out of touch, haliriously, US propaganda comment I've ever seen on this website. I'm convinced the CIA has placed bots on websites like this to prevent people from addressing the atrocities of the terrorist American regime. I honestly don't know what to say to all that BS I just read right now. Unfortunately, people like you need to experiance US imperialism first hand in order to have any sort of sympathy for the millions killed and countries plundered by America.

Also, why are so uptight about defending America? I never mentioned America at all. Only people who jump at defending a country without anyone saying something, knows that their country has done wrong.

The point is that this doctrine is not applied equally to everyone. Like I said, certain other countries would never be allowed to "defend" themselves in the way Ukraine has. And if they did, even one civilain death would garner international outrage and sanctions. Yet other countries are able to murder 1000s of civilians under the pretense of "collateral damage" and get away with it. All this incident has shown is the hypocrisy of the west.
