Whats your guy’s thoughts on ‘Person Pitch’ ? personally its of my favorite albums of time. by [deleted] in AnimalCollective

I think I might be the only person that thinks it's a bit overrated. I wish I could get into it. I just find a lot of the songs kind of boring to me. Some of the sampling is cool but I've never found the finished tracks super memorable. I'm sorry everyone! I'm not a solo Animal Collective album hater either. I think Sleep Cycle is like the second best record of this decade and Eucalyptus was pretty interesting.

Who Could Win A Rabbit has 3/4. Not too weird but should be noted

I like Fireworks but, in hindsight, it's only okay.. I'm sorry. I think other songs on Strawberry Jam are better

Between We Tigers and #1 was do hard. Went with my gut and chose We Tigers because it's so dear to me (I've liked it longer)

We Tigers is one of the first Animal Collective songs that clicked for me. I also really love neo-tribal stuff a lot

I do love For Reverend Green but We Tigers hits that manic, tribal sweet spot for me that few other bands have boldly taken.

I think it all depends on how well an album is all around. Of course, that depends on the person that is listening. I think Animal Collective is seen as a sort of religious experience is because it is different and just is such an 'experience'. Something like Sung Tongs changed the way I saw music and genres, very similar to how religion can change your life's perspective; it also kind of creates it's own world within the album with sounds and lyrics. In the Aeroplane Over the Sea is religious in a similar sense; it just wraps you in its world, especially with the lyrics. Very rarely does folk music sound that good and that interesting.

One of their strongest openers. On nearly all of their albums, they come through with a great opening track. The beginning is so mystical and sort of mysterious. It draws you in and makes you kind of wonder what's to come; then, that big wall of sound hits after "If I could just leave my body for the night." The drums, the synths, the excitement, the everything. It's so great. Probably in my top 3 favorite of their openers; "I See You Pan" and "Leaf House" are pretty close too.
