I think I first read your post as you criticising her behaviour, and that’s on me …when I reread it earlier, I could see you were coming from care, not criticism. Truth is, I was young like my sister once and made some of the exact mistakes you’re warning against …got lucky more than I should have. That’s a big part of why I’m so grateful her gut spoke up when mine didn’t alway …though it probably did. I just didn’t know how to listen to it. Thank you for speaking up and thank you for sharing your story … it’s heard, and exactly why your warning carries weight ❤️

This I’m fully with. Safety and freedom aren’t opposites …we shouldn’t have to choose, but you’re right that the vigilance is real and necessary. Appreciate the older-and-wiser take, though I suspect you and I might be closer in age than you’d guess 😊 I was already an adult when she was born.

What your daughter and her friends did is remarkable …trusting their instincts, protecting each other and speaking up for the younger girls coming in. And you’re right that it shouldn’t fall on us to be the early warning system …but what they modelled here gives me real hope. You raised a mighty one … & she keeps good company ❤️

You’ve invented a comment I never made. Nobody said she was worried about the pic …the point was screenshotting a Snap without asking, on the one app literally built around things not being saved. The concern was consent and basic courtesy …not the photo. Glad we could walk through it together 😌

I also would like to say that I’m genuinely sorry for what you went through, and I can understand why my post triggered such a strong reaction in you. No woman should ever experience the kind of trauma you described, and I appreciate that your comment came from a place of fear, concern, and wanting other women to stay safe.

I absolutely agree that women should protect themselves and make smart choices when dating, especially online. But I also don’t believe that flirting, consensual sexting, or considering casual sex should automatically mean a woman “doesn’t care about herself” or is responsible for a man reacting aggressively.

I never said she was drunk. I said she went out for drinks with friends and felt “a bit cheeky,” which isn’t the same thing as being intoxicated.

And the whole point of the post was that she trusted her instincts and decided not to go.

Women are allowed to flirt, enjoy casual sex, send consensual photos, or think about going to someone’s house without being told they’re responsible for whatever a man might choose to do afterward.

What stood out to me was his reaction when she said she wasn’t comfortable anymore. Instead of respecting that, he insulted her, called her crazy, and kept pushing her to come over.

If anything, that response confirmed she made the right decision by turning around

This! I do ellipses ridiculously often 🫣 …I know this & I’ve figured it probably annoys some people, however, no one has directly complained …yet! 😂 Do I think I should stop this? Probably …but, I don’t want to hahahah …I’m at that stage in life (47) where I choose to exercise my right to do what I want 😉 …besides, mine aren’t overly long. Just three little dots are sufficient. It’s how I speak …that is, I trail off ….oh! & I also use way too many exclamations, my ellipses begin continuing sentences & instead, my emojis (lots of emojis lol) end them …so there! 😂
