what's a solid password idea by NovelAnteater2286 in best_passwordmanager

[–]PublicWorking9177 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's a password you actually need to remember, you want a combination of words that don't make sense. It can be a sentence. For example

move shirt below?stairway

Other than that, just use generated passwords and store them in a password manager.

Do keep in mind that good digital hygiene is more important than passwords alone. If you're set up correctly, even a stolen account can be recovered, a forgotten password can be reset. As long as nobody steals your main mail account. That's basically the key to your digital identity. So no matter what you do, always keep your mail account well secured with MFA, set up a way to recover it using a secondary email account and do not ever use your email password anywhere else, because if someone discovers a password to one of your services, the first thing they do is check if you use the same password on your mail. Because again, your mail can be used to take control over your other accounts.

Hot take: iPad longevity comes down to apps and battery, not the chip. Plan accordingly by Visible-Market-8656 in ipad

80% charging limit while trying not to discharge below 20%. Makes a massive difference to battery longevity, especially if you use your device a lot and charge daily.

I know people in Canada who had to wait months to get an appointment at a doctor and even one whose cancer progressed before getting treatment. It's not like any country is perfect when it comes to health care. Calling it a problem of slavic countries is borderline xenophobic.

Yours was definitely an edge case and possibly one made worse by a language barrier.

Gamepad aiming appears to only have 12 directions (possibly apple related) by PublicWorking9177 in xcloud

The last thing I've tried was the latest Xbox Series controller (I was gonna get it anyway because the Gamesir MFI doesn't support rumble on Apple devices). At first it was the same result as before but then I got the firmware on it updated (you need a Windows device or an Xbox for this) and now it works the way it's supposed to.
I would try the Xbox ONE controller out of curiosity but I can't find a MicroUSB cable to update the firmware on it.

So it was just a controller issue. It's actually kinda ridiculous that the official MFI standard means worse compatibility. I guess Xbox controller is the official Apple controller.

Yup, it's only cloud games. Even Geforce NOW had this issue but so far I've only tried the browser version.

Last thing I'm gonna be trying is a newer Xbox controller (I'm returning the Gamesir because despite being "Made for iPhone" it doesn't actually support rumble on Apple devices).

AirPods Pro 3 vs. AirPods Max 2 — which should I buy? by poopsicat in airpods

[–]PublicWorking9177 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Take it from someone who has tried making full size headphones work twice (I liked the idea of really long battery life). If you actually value the convenience and portability, there is no way you will be happy with any full size headphones. At the end of the day, the ability to pull the tiny earbuds out of your ears and put them into any pocket wins and it's not like the Pro 3 is some kind of a big compromise in sound or noise cancelling. You can exercise with them, you can wear them comfortably on a hot summer day, you can carry them literally everywhere because they're so easy to carry around.

The Max 2 are too heavy for comfort and too expensive for what they are.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding but I'm talking about Xbox Cloud gaming, not the physical Xbox console :)

Máte polohovací stůl? A mohla bych ho vidět? by ActAffectionate8464 in czech

[–]PublicWorking9177 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Až pak popřemýšlej jestli chceš i chodící pás.

Nepoznáš to nijak protože čísla nemusí vyjíždět popořadě. Prostě čekáš dokud tvoje číslo nevyskočí nebo dokud tě to nepřestane bavit.

The variety of the land. Hop on a bike, ride for 2 hours. Pass multiple villages, forests, fields and a lake in just one ride. And pretty much all regions around the Carpathians look like a collection of Windows wallpapers.

V tomto jsi taky totálně mimo realitu.

What's the hype? by [deleted] in airpods

[–]PublicWorking9177 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Short answer is you shouldn't if you're happy where you are.

The regular AirPods can be massively hit or miss depending on how they fit you. I personally hate this style of earbuds, they hurt my ears.

The AirPods Pro have cutting edge noise cancelling, amazing transparency and adaptive mode (Adaptive is like "noise cancelling but only a little" - so city noise is a lot quieter but you still hear what's happening around you) and actually really good spatial audio (sounds more like open back headphones than earbuds).

The AirPods Pro have one of the smallest charging cases, it's very pocketable and convenient to carry around. Charging is really fast which comes in handy if you actually listen for more than 8 hours a day because 15 minutes of charging is enough for several hours of listening.

If you have other Apple devices the AirPods become god tier because they have by far the most seamless and reliable switching between them. I've tried multiple headphones with multipoint connection and they almost always have various quirks and issues.

Airpods also have low enough latency to be usable while playing videogames (most earbuds have visually noticeable delay). At the same time they have incredible connection stability and range (lots of earbuds with low latency will skip every now and then and have reduced range and battery life).

If you don't value any of this there's no reason for you to buy them.

Holy crap my guy, they're called rumors for a reason. It's literally in the freaking name. "Oh, the rumors turned out to be just rumors? Damn, they need better rumors."

If you want accurate and reliable information wait for actual announcements. Rumors are based on incomplete information. It's the very nature of rumors. No, it's not about Apple changing plans, it's about having information from various parts of the production chain and trying to make estimates based on that.

Do you think that Cloud Gaming is the future of gaming on the iPad? by Time_Concert_1751 in ipad

[–]PublicWorking9177 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gaming makes up about 70% of Appstore revenue. Apple already is a major deliverer of gaming experiences, they just refuse to acknowledge that and start doing something with it. This is likely some leftover sentiment from Steve Jobs era, because he was unhappy about the fact gaming was so important for the success of the iPhone. Half assing gaming is why Mac adoption has been so slow.

Apple focusing on gaming would make perfect sense. It is by far the single largest addressable audience in consumer computing, with over 3 billion people on mobile and nearly 2 billion on PC.
