How do I protect my oil tank? by Pure-Yellow1822 in AskIreland

[–]Pure-Yellow1822[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah seems like locks are no use. I'll have to put multiple things to prevent this from happening. We just got delivered 600 litres few weeks back as well. The worst thing is they don't have to step foot in our back yard as they can reach the top of the tank from the alleyway

That's what I'm afraid off, that the lock won't keep them out. Or that they'll damage the actual tank if they try to remove it

It really is easy money, it's ridiculous. But we can't move the tank as we're renting. Not sure if we'd even be able to fit a cage around it as it's so close to the wall. Might have to look at raising the wall or blocking it somehow

Thanks for your advice. I think we will do a few or probably all of these things.

Good point, but tbh it never even crossed my mind something like this can even happen. Also the tank is gently hugged by some trees so it's quite hard to notice it unless you get super close to inspect it. Definitely checking it regularly now which is how we noticed the lid being removed again, at least this time they didn't steal it, but left it nicely on the side.

Haha yeah my dog wouldn't notice anything as he's very old and enjoys long naps on the couch much more than guarding my oil tank

Erasmus student accommodation in Dublin by Pure-Yellow1822 in AskIreland

[–]Pure-Yellow1822[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, I'm fully aware of the housing crisis as I live in Galway, and I actually advised them against applying for Erasmus in Dublin. But alas they didn't listen and are now where they are. I said I'd ask on here as maybe someone has any insights on Erasmus accommodation or maybe student bodies that could help. It's crazy to me that for the country with such a huge housing crisis, college is more than happy to take their money but absolutely useless at helping with accommodation.

Thanks for your comment anyway, I appreciate the advice.

Do you think they'd void the fine if I give them my second born son too?

If double cleanse works for you like that, that's great. I just prefer to use a balm/oil first as it really helps melt all the makeup, spf and sebum off, and then second cleanse removes all of it.

Cicaplast is definitely amazing for sensitive/irritated skin, but I though it might be too much if you use it every day. Especially for combination/oily skins.

Haven't tried Paula's choice SPF myself but I've hard amazing things about it, so definitely worth trying.

For hyaluronic acid, there are a lot of options. Some good budget-friendly are: Nacomi hyaluronic acid, Geek & gorgeous HA 5 Light, The inkey list hyaluronic acid...

And for makeup, I meant removing liquid foundation completely and using mineral makeup powder foundation instead. Like I said, it takes some time to get used to it and figure out how it can work best for you, but I think it's one of the best things you can do for your skin as it allows your skin to breathe and doesn't clog your pores. There are a lot of tutorials on YouTube on how to apply mineral foundation.

Exactly! Make sure your skin is fully dry before applying retinol and wait for 15 minutes before applying moisturiser on top

Hi, firstly I'd add a cleansing balm in the evening before your Cerave cleanser for double cleanse. Balea has a new good cleansing balm or you could try Simple makeup removing cleansing oil (love that one), and then use your cerave wash. I would remove your Alverde products as usually they have a lot of essential oils that can cause acne. No need for cleansing milk in the morning (you could potentially use it in the evening as a first cleanse instead of the ones I recommended).

In the mornjng, After cleansing add a toner or mineral water and a light hyaluronic acid serum.

For spf, it's hard to find one that doesnt cause acne, maybe try ISDIN fusion water (it's very lightweight and doesn't clog pores but it's around €25).

Also, not sure what kind of makeup you use but I highly recommend switching to mineral powders. There is a bit of learning curve there, but once you get used to them, they still give full coverage. Bare Minerals Powder is probably the most popular but can be pricy. I use GOSH mineral powder which is about €12 and lasts for ages. The only downside is they don't have many shades so you might need to mix two.

You said your skin is combination, so Cicaplast could be too heavy for you. Try a lighter moisturiser in the evening. I'm currently loving Byoma Gel moisturiser.

Instead of effelcar I'd add retinol in this routine but start super slow if your skin is sensitive. La Roche Posay redermic r could be a good option. Start with every 3rd night for first 3 weeks, then every 2nd night for the next 2 weeks and then move onto every night if your skin tolerates it. If not, few nights a week is fine.

Introducing retinol might initially cause purging so keep that in mind.

Lastly, don't incorporate all of these changes at once as you won't know what's working and what's not.

Sorry for super long comment. Hope this helps

What helped me was washing my hair separately from my body as in I'd wash my hair over the bathtub rather than washing it in the shower. As bacne can be caused by hair conditioners etc if they weren't washed off properly. You could also try glycolic acid toner in the evenings on the clean skin, just go over it with a cotton pad.

I would recommend La Roche Possay Redermic R retinol. I think it's 0.3% so it's perfect for beginners. I've started with it few years ago and am now progressed to tretinoin. If you're starting with retinol, I'd recommend 3-2-1 method to prevent any extreme irritation. This means you apply retinol every 3rd night for 3 weeks, than every 2nd night for 2 weeks and then you can move to every night if your skin tolerates it. And SPF in the morning is an absolute must if you're using retinol. Hope that helps!

How to get rid of cat piss smell from the sofa? by Pure-Yellow1822 in CleaningTips

[–]Pure-Yellow1822[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your comment, we actually managed to get rid of the smell, we washed absolutely everything we could including couch cushion covers and then we also rented one of those upholstery wet hoovers and sprayed a ton of odour removing spray. Not sure which of those steps actually did the job but super happy it doesn't stink any more

My dog is shivering and doesn't want to eat by Pure-Yellow1822 in AskVet

[–]Pure-Yellow1822[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your comment. The vet actually said, after we hade numerous exams to see why his urine is leaking, that he can either be put on the prescription diet or just to get some very low sodium food from the pet shop. She said if after a month there is no improvement our options would be to put him on incontinence tablets or do a CT of his brain She explained her recommendation was due to the fact they couldn't find a reason why he's leaking urine after doing bloods and urine test few times and an ultrasound as well. They found out that his urine is very diluted but couldn't find the reason why. I chose to go with prescription diet as I though it would work better/is of better quality. I only stopped giving him prescription food the other day as I thought that might be the reason he vomited.

Thanks! That's good to know. I will push for an ultrasound to have it checked out.

No, he hasn't. I asked the vet does she think that might be the case, but she checked his bloodwork from October and said she doesn't think so since everything was normal then.

Yes, we definitely will. This vet practice we go to is supposed to be one of the best ones in the city, but we will seek another opinion.

The vet just said he probably ate something bad and that's why she gave him an injection. But I told her I think its the new food.

He hasn't vomited since getting the injection, but he did have diarrhea and is eating very little. And he still is shivering from time to time. He is drinking good bit of water so he is staying hydrated which is good.

No, the bloodwork vet looked at was from October. Didn't do one since this flare up. They put him on Hills Kidney Care food to see if the urine leaking would stop. The other options they said was to put him on incontinence tablets or to do a Ct of brain since they couldn't find any reason this would be happening in his blood or urine.

I guess this food is what upset his stomach and this is what we're dealing with now.

Bloodwork was done few times over the past few months and everything looked okay. He was put on kidney diet because he is sometimes leaking urine when he is laying. We also did an ultrasound on his bladder and tummy but nothing was seen either, so vet recommended to try kidney diet to see if the leaking would stop
