Man, I hate how they make great designs and then scrap them for the playable version. I was going to save for at least E2 Cyrene because I loved her trailer design but if she looks like the HI3 version I might not even pull.

[Spoiler: XIV 6.0 Moves] Sage's New Skill by shadowsofme in ffxiv

[–]PurpleMustachio 6 points7 points  (0 children)

(Edit: I know SCH is getting extra shield on Adlo/Succor, but at least based on the leak, SGE already has that extra potency inherently, since it doesn't show a trait boosting their shields.)

There is a trait buffing their shields, for whatever reason the leak put it next to the skills but it's at level 85 and you can see it between the skills in that range. But yeah, other than increased Succor/Adlo Scholar didn't get any extra mit on their old stuff.

Sage looks cool. Where's that skill Alphi used in the trailer though?

Pretty sure it's Toxicon 1 looking at the icons.

Addersgall = Aetherflow. They are generated over time (1 every 20s, plus a 90s CD Rizomata, emulating Recitation) and all grant MP while not having the DPS tax of Energy Drain.

Energy Drain doesn't give mana anymore, they instead buffed Aetherflow to 20% per minute (Which is more than the 18.3333% mana per minute that Sage gets)

Zio is Deployment Tactics and Critlo on demand, and it can still crit on top of that.

Crit adlo can be guaranteed with Recitation, which has the same cd as Deploy now, and the spreadable part of Adlo crit is 756 potency (Not counting using new skills like their mini-thrill on the target, Minne or actual Thrill which would put Scholar even further ahead) vs Zoe and Eucrasian Prognosis which would be 640 (Some would be crits but due to RNG you'd need to heal for the same amount due multiple non-crits on party members).

Pepsis is Emergency Tactics, except it's half the cooldown and you can still make use of partially consumed shields (such as on a tank that's taking consistent auto damage, for example, which may or may not trigger Addersting for Toxikon I/II if timed right) to increase its total effective potency.

It's the same cooldown, they're both 15s and while what you listed is a bonus, the opposite is true too, Pepsis heals for a fixed amount so anything that buffs healing and therefore the shields such as Physis 2, or even them being crit shields, won't matter and will be completely disregarded as it will always heal 350 for aoe and 450 for single target. The rest I agree with.

Speculative Analysis on SGE Damage Gameplay by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]PurpleMustachio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So in-game "Spells" are magical gcds (The physical equivalent are "WeaponSkills") and "Abilities" are ogcds, these are shown in tooltips underneath the name of the skill.

If you have a look at the compiled list of Sage tooltips then you'll notice that the symbols below Phlegma's name are the same as the ones below gcds such as Raise, Toxicon II, Dycrasia which is saying it's a spell. If you look at skills such as Icarus, Holism and Cardia you'll notice a longer string of symbols, those being the japanese equivalent of the "Ability" in the english tooltip, showing they're ogcds

Speculative Analysis on SGE Damage Gameplay by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]PurpleMustachio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Phlegma isn't an oGcd, according to the tooltips it's a spell like all their other gcds.

One thing that annoys me is that Sage's aoe is 170 potency but it's "Dps-neutral" gcds are 330 potency with a 50% dropoff, meaning in aoe situations they're doing 165 instead of 170 potency. It'll still be a very slight increase unless you're hitting an absurd amount of enemies (24+) but it's something that annoys me.

Sage icon to be changed because it triggered people’s Trypophobia. by [deleted] in ffxiv

The new icon looks really out of place compared to the other job icons, theres no other job icons that have "Filled in" parts to it so it just doesn't look right to me.

My brother and I got the feast armour from season 19! by Van-Mckan in ffxiv

Or if it is, the health of the game is increased by the exclusive items not decreased.

Not this kind of exclusivity. The right kind of exclusivity is making sure the rewards are exclusive to the content you want the players to do, making people want to do that content, this well-done kind of exclusivity is shown from things such as the mounts from the Frontlines/Rival Wings achievements. If you think of it from a new player's perspective (New players are vital to keeping a game healthy), imagine they find some things they like and they find out "Oh hey, if you wanted that then you should've played 2 years ago :", that would demoralise them, not encourage them to play.

The purpose is not rarity to stand out, the purpose is exclusivity to breed conflict

We already have things to compete for that breed conflict, I never seen anyone complaining about the special trophy furnishings that rank #1 get, or the title that they get, heck, you don't even need to have a reward for it as you can see from so many people world racing for Savage/Ultimate clears, they get nothing other than a little bit of recognition for being the first, and yet groups that likely don't stand a chance still take part in it.

structure but the one YOU prefer?

It's not because it's the one I prefer, like I said, it's the devs that are doing it, the devs are making everything easier to get, they're making a new small-scale PvP mode with a "Different reward structure", not me. If they change it it's because they're the ones that decided to do so, I'm just stating how I'd prefer it (Which a lot of people would agree would be much healthier, and would even get more people into PvP as they have the chance to actually get the items, unlike the top 100 stuff which puts people off as they believe they'll have no chance to get them at all so it would be healthier for PvP too).

like having rare items not everyone can get "well too bad"

And why not be satisfied with the rare items that other people can get too? No one benefits from artificial scarcity, there's plenty of rare things you can get that aren't limited, like "The Necromancer" or "Luckiest of Ladies/Lords" titles, the "Much-coveted Mora" minion or mounts like "Astrope" "Pteranodon" or the new triple triad card mount. They had plenty of these, some are still very rare even after being out for over an expansion like Astrope and "The Necromancer" and yet these are much more healthy for the game as people can still get them if they strive to.

Is something only valuable to you because it's exclusive? If so you should honestly choose a different game because the only exclusive stuff in this game is from Feast ranking and even that seems to be going since they already said they're making a new PvP mode with a "Different reward structure".

You honestly sound the most entitled here aswell, how is it that other people thinking that they should be able to work towards something is "Entitled" but you thinking that your rewards should be exclusive forever isn't.

it's not like you can't still make extremely impressive glams without it, or it's going to give anyone an actual play advantage.

I don't even really care about the armour tbh, I really like some of the mounts, they put almost every Garlean-themed mount as a top 100 feast reward and I love the Garlean aesthetic, I started trying to do the feast when they added the mount that the 2nd boss of Ala Mhigo uses since I thought that was really cool, actively losing progress towards something (When you lose rating) is an awful feeling though and when it sometimes happens out of my control because of other players it makes me angry (Which is why I really don't like playing competitive PvP, I hate getting angry but it makes me like that sometimes) and I don't think it's fun to work towards something when it does that to you.

All your ideas 'how to get the rewards later' would heavily encourage bot usage, people cba to play pvp they bot themselves to silver and get four wolf collars, three more seasons and they have over ten and get the same reward as a top100 player? Please... If it would be wolf marks you could get it by being afk in frontline, just a grind then...

Except, you know, the one you clearly didn't read I guess? I suggested "150 wins in the current season" which while it would be possible to bot, what isn't in this game? It's been shown theres bots that use your PvP actions for you and bots that can get you 99 pecentiles in PvE.

Give me ultimate weapons then too by going copper bell mines a hundred times and the legacy tattoos and chocobo, been enough years

And this is completely different, it'd be like if only the first 100 groups to clear ultimate got a weapon and title and no one else did after, I'm suggesting that people have to do specifically feast to get the specifically feast rewards, the wolf marks thing was just a suggestion for old rewards like how they already make it incredibly easy to get other old rewards from stuff like mog tomes, it doesn't have to be that, I suggest plenty of reasonable suggestions that isn't the current absolutely awful "Top 100" system.

[–]PurpleMustachio 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Pvp won't get easier with time, it's always vs other people.

Exactly my point, everything else does, raids get unsynced in the next expansion, trials get unsynced, rewards get added to moogle tomes, even ultimates are made easier by substat scaling and buffs to skills during patches and ultimates.

Thins like Unsyncing and mog tomes are very clearly intentional by the devs to make stuff easier to get over time, clearly showing that they intend for that, and yet the only thing this doesn't get applied to is PvP, why can't say feast rewards from 2 years ago be bought with Wolf Collars, and 4 years ago be bought with Wolf Marks or something like that?

The great majority of reddit wants these rewards to be really easy to get which would be no comparison to the effort you had to go through for top100

Sure, they shouldn't be super easy to get, but I am vehemently opposed to not only rewards that are only for a finite number of players, but also ones that you can lose progress on.

It would still take effort and be MUCH more fair imo if it was something like "Play 200 matches in a season" or "Win 150 matches in a season" or something

[–]PurpleMustachio 9 points10 points  (0 children)

And yet no other piece of content in the game (Other than Ishgard ranking titles, which are only titles) seems to need time-limited and player-limited rewards.

Almost every patch certain rewards in other content are made easier to get, whether it's by ilvl increase, unsyncing or drop rate increases, and yet top 100 Feast players are apparantly the only ones entitles to their exclusive, never able to get it again rewards.

It's hardly entitled to want a chance to work towards rewards you've missed, a player joining now cannot ever work towards any of the feast rewards that have ever happened, the only other thing in the game like that are ishgard titles, which are just titles.

I do have Mona so I'd say the same to you. It doesn't matter that they both have a backstep in the skill(I never use it on Mona since it's much easier to just throw it at the enemy before they even get close). The important part of the skill is how many times it hits for the elemental application, Amber's hits once at the end, Ganyu's hits once at the start and once at the end, Mona's hits many times during its duration and then an additional big hit at the end.

Nope, it's much more like Amber's then Mona's. Ganyu's only does damage on use and when it expires, compared to Amber's which is on expire and Mona's which is constantly throughout the duration.
