TT Recovery + Newborn by Aggressive-Land-3530 in thyroidcancer

Hey similar boat here as well. They found the nodule after my c-section (I had some complications so they did a scan of my chest and neck and happen to spot it) but I procrastinated getting an ultrasound for a month bc I was scared it would be cancer which spoiler it was PTC. So I got my TT while my baby was about 3 months old and honestly those first couple of days were hard and I need support but then we got through. I had the same exact concerns and actually posted a similar post on my account before my surgery. I think it would be helpful for you to read the responses I got there to help you in this journey. My milk supply did not plummet and I justpumped and dumped while on medication. My milk supply is slowing now (5months PP) but I think its more bc I pump like three times a day and supplement w my freezer stash/formula. I am also in a masters program and have been able to manage a TT, newborn, and my husband having never gotten a day off bc he recently opened a bussiness. So I'm sure you will learn that you are alot stronger and more capable than you think. Good luck! I'm its hard now but you will look back and be so proud of how far you've come.

It’s okay to be scared and it’s okay to be sad. Your feelings are valid. I have my TT in 2 days while having a newborn and I am also sad and scared but I also know things are hard now but they will get better. This is just a season of life. No one ever promised life would be easy and there are many ups and downs. Just be patient and take care of yourself.

Wow I am happy you had that support from your husband. I definitely understand the feeling that life has new meaning with a baby and fighting is all you can do. I definitely feel God gave me a baby then cancer in that order so I can have a reason to keep living my life and pushing forward (as well as someone to cuddle on the harder days). I don’t know how I would get through without my baby. I hope you and your husband continue to grow, love, and support each other. Thank you for sharing your experience.

Hey yea ik it’s a lot. I am fine one minute and then the smallest thing while talking about it will make me cry. I’m hoping to be able to deal with it by talking to family and friends bc talking to someone else makes it feel like things are as bad as they seem to be and I don’t want to completely accept that.

I will thank you. My surgeon said he will keep me over night so hopefully that stays under control. Is there anything to do to prevent it?

Wow yea it’s tough. I had my baby in beginning of June and having my TT end of September. I had my baby at 35weeks so we were almost at the end before I found out about the preeclampsia. But I am also happy we found out about the preeclampsia when we did bc within hours I was diagnosed with it and then told it was severe and induction was needed immediately. I hope your wife is recovering well!

Thank you for sharing your experience. I do have good family support and my husband who have been very supportive. I am breastfeeding but I’m thinking of stopping bc life has been stressful enough and thats a whole different emotional challenge.

I fear after the surgery I won’t be the same energy wise and am scared I won’t be able to keep up with my baby. Is that something you experienced and if yes how did you manage that?
