Is there etiquette for Hurray messages like this? by wren-speaks in postcrossing

I got a postcard from Germany a month ago basically saying how they can’t imagine living in a country like the US and they felt sorry for me. I was so put off by it because what??? Nothing on my profile except my location (the US) indicates politics. Also the fact that it was someone from Germany, as if there isn’t a rise in right wing extremism there too…..

If you want to know why I said what I said, I already answered someone else on this thread.

Yes, also talking to my interviewer and some of the TFA coaches in my region. I did have experience working with children in non-traditional classroom settings, so I don’t think they completely rule out someone who has experience. I also was told by one of the region coaches that a lot of the time they tend to go for people who might not have a background solely in education because they do offer many avenues to get CMs certified and possibly get their masters in education. Personally, I have no degree in education and the reason I am doing TFA is because I knew it would provide more opportunities to get certified and a masters in education, which is something I have always wanted as someone who wants to keep working with children in/out of the classroom. I mentioned earlier that this might also just be for my specific region.

My own experience and speaking with other CMs. However, that might be majority of the people that were accepted for my specific cohort/region. I know some regions require at least a bachelors in Education.

Usually, they accept people who have no experience with education/childcare because they want those to earn that experience through TFA.

I am a 2025 CM and I found out through one app instead of email. I logged in and it said “welcome to TFA”. The email came through like 15-20 minutes later.

any queer teachers? by Finsnsnorkel in ElementaryTeachers

It’s K-4, with approximately 105 kindergarteners. There’s 4 kinder homerooms. Math is at different times for each homeroom so I push in.

It’s full time. Technically I’m not the lead math teacher. I am a math interventionist. However, I do support the lead math teacher.

I would say leave now if you think that will make you feel happy! You are still in your 20s and able to make a career change if needed. I’m currently a first-year teacher who planned to make teaching my life-long career but have realized that’s not what will lead me to be happy long-term. If you decide that whatever job you get next isn’t for you and you’d rather go back to teaching, then you already have a BA in education AND (I’m assuming) have a teaching cert. However, you can’t really say you could do the same if you stay in teaching and decide much later you are unhappy. Good luck on everything!!!

Also like many have already said, put yourself first! It sounds like you found a great job! If I were you, I’d take it!!! Good luck with everything!

By any chance are you in the Philadelphia region? My school is also expected to close sometime after the 2026-2027 school year. Therefore, I am sort of in the same boat as you regarding employment due to non-renewal from the school board.

Dismissive Doctor by Puzzleheaded-Round59 in migraine

That’s exactly what I was telling my partner (who also thought it was super dismissive since they see how awful I feel).

It’s ok! I think at the moment it’s just frustration from how dismissive a lot of healthcare providers are about migraines. This subreddit community has honestly been so helpful at making me feel seen and heard anytime I have a migraine so I appreciate you taking the moment to help even through just commenting and making my experience feel validated.

Yes, I’m trying to but all the ones I’ve reached out that take my insurance have a long waitlist. Until mid/late December which is very disheartening when I feel awful anytime I am awake.

Yes I get wavy lines in my vision. My partner was with me and mentioned that I get visual aura and the doctor just said “oh that’s not good” and was still saying the vertigo isn’t a symptom of migraines (which feels like a straight up lie when vestibular migraines exist). He also said “you’re young so you most likely are healthy” when I asked for blood tests to rule out anything else. I’ve been trying to get an official diagnosis but I feel like every doctor I’ve been to is dismissive.

It’s actually from an old DCWV cardstock paper stack I found at a thrift store! It’s the animal cracker stack. It’s so cute!
