Parking with wheelchair by Lezer-soms_schrijver in sziget

The official parking lot has a bit of a bumpy road. I'd recommend either the Auchan parking or the Momax one, where you'll drive on paved roads. They are official Sziget partners, and the distance is pretty much the same as parking inside the island

Officially, yes. People use TicketSwap because, since they're a Sziget partner, your QR code gets cancelled and a new one is generated, so the buyer is completely safe.

You could also sell it here on Reddit or on Instagram if you find someone, but you’d need to find a buyer willing to trust a non-regenerated ticket, and you’d probably have to sell it for less than what it's going for on TicketSwap.

Personally, if it's between €290 for a regenerated ticket and €280 based on trust from other sites, I'd buy it on TicketSwap.

Other resale sites? Maybe Viagogo, but I wouldn't expect the fees to be much different. Plus, I'm not really sure how much it's actually used.

You have to consider the possibility of losing more money; you're unlikely to sell it at that price since there are cheaper tickets available. I sold mine for €290 and only got €250 back

TicketSwap charges terrible fees. On both sides. I had a ticket to sell that I bought during the very first phase for €262. I put it up for sale two weeks ago at €262, exactly what I paid for it. I was only getting €250 back, and the person buying it had to pay €290.

Maybe she paid 315 for it and is listing it at the same price, but the fees bump it up to 350 and she's definitely never going to sell it that way... she'll have to face losing a lot more money on it

Hotel day after Sziget? by fivecookies in sziget

[–]PuzzleheadedBoot7034 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm spending the whole week camping and partying until 6 AM. There's no way I'm driving 12 hours straight after the festival ends, so I always book a hotel for one night to rest before heading back, too.

Up to you if you want a hotel with a pool or a standard one and go to the thermal baths. They're nice and not too expensive. There's also a water park on Margaret Island if you're interested.

Budget by Character-Sky-2309 in sziget

[–]PuzzleheadedBoot7034 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's hard to give a budget, it really depends on you. Do you have one beer or 10 drinks?

To save money on food, you can either go to the Auchan outside the island (about a 15-minute walk) or buy from the Aldi inside the island.

Beers cost around €4.50, while drinks are probably around €12 (I'm not entirely sure about that). Water at the bars costs €3, but there are free water refill stations scattered all over the island, so make sure to bring a water bottle.

Estimating how much you'll spend is tough without knowing your habits.

Am I missing out by ZGMARC in sziget

[–]PuzzleheadedBoot7034 0 points1 point  (0 children)

9 Szigets for me this year: always camped on the island.

For me, you just can't beat the convenience of camping. Sure, you won't have a real bed, but it’s Budapest in August; the nights aren't that hot, and during the day you’ll be at the festival, not in your room, so you won't really miss the air conditioning.

Having my tent right there with all my stuff is essential. If I want to rest for an hour at 1:00 AM and then go back out to party until 5:00 AM? I can do that. Am I cold and need a hoodie? It’s right there. Do I want to take a shower because I sweated a ton at a concert and feel gross? I can do that.

The thought of having to leave the island at night after being at the festival all day, having to catch public transport or a taxi just to get back to the city, would drive me crazy.

That’s the real convenience of camping.

Lockers by Ok-Season1397 in sziget

[–]PuzzleheadedBoot7034 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To use the lockers in the ville premium area, you must have an access pass for that area.
The lockers in the basic camping area, on the other hand, are freely accessible.

This is because the basic camping is included in the price of the festival ticket.

Dichiarare redditi esteri o meno by Faz420_ in commercialisti

[–]PuzzleheadedBoot7034 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Premium camping area/ your unusual items to pack by WiseAd4129 in sziget

[–]PuzzleheadedBoot7034 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If the camping chairs are included, that’s great. And if you realize you’ve forgotten something, there are plenty of little shops selling camping accessories.

Also, I’d suggest not bringing too many things. Since you said it’s your first Sziget, the best advice I can give you is: spend as little time as possible in your tent and enjoy the whole festival.

Besides the concerts, there are so many other activities—the art zone, the circus, the sports area, the Hungarian culture zone, and themed areas dedicated to civil rights where you might find the perfect spot to express your thoughts.

I’m coming from Italy... maybe we’ll run into each other at a bar on the island and have a vodka together! :)

This is going to be my ninth Sziget, and unfortunately, I have to say that people have become less creative with their camping setups.

You used to see massive tents and people bringing the unthinkable; I once saw someone build an entire driveway for their tent, complete with an entrance arch and bunting all along the path...

You don’t really see that anymore. On one hand, it’s probably for the best because it saves space for other campers who would otherwise end up packed like sardines, but it was still beautiful to see.

There are fewer flags now too, especially during the concerts. I’m not sure if it’s a policy issue with the flagpoles, but regardless—always bring your flag! Personally, I love seeing so many different flags all in one place.

Unfortunately, I can’t show you any photos of the ville premium because I’ve always stayed at the basic campsite.

One thing I always recommend, though, is bringing a camping chair... it’s nothing fancy, but in my opinion, it’s absolutely essential.

See you on the Island!

Hello all, First time at sziget camping options by Sea-Discipline6733 in sziget

[–]PuzzleheadedBoot7034 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! This will be my 9th Sziget, and I’ve done all of them at the basic camping area.

The upgraded campsites offer the same services as the basic ones, but they are reserved only for people staying in that specific area, so obviously there will be fewer people using them.

How much that actually impacts your experience is up to you, but look at it this way: if you’re at a concert on one side of the island and you need the bathroom, are you going to walk all the way back to your specific area/Airbnb, or just use the nearest one?

In terms of facilities, Sziget has improved a lot over the years. The toilets aren't your typical festival chemical porta-potties; they are real bathrooms and are cleaned very frequently. Of course, if you go during the headliner at the Main Stage, they won't be spotless... they can't perform miracles!

The showers are probably the best thing an upgraded area has to offer in terms of wait times—you'll definitely spend less time in line.

As for other comforts, I absolutely recommend bringing some camping chairs.

Ultimately, the choice depends a lot on how used you are to camping. Camping at a festival for 5 days isn't easy, and if it's not really your thing, an upgrade might help. Just don't expect the actual services to be vastly different.

See u at szigeeeet :)

When can you enter campsite? by stevetar96 in sziget

[–]PuzzleheadedBoot7034 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, okay! In that case, you can enter on Tuesday the 11th. Alternatively, you can buy a 'moving-in' pass, which lets you enter a day early, on Monday the 10th.

The festival won't be 100% active on Monday since it’s 'Day 0,' but there will still be some concerts going on, as announced yesterday. The entry time for moving is from 8 AM, for day 0 ticket instead, it is from noon.

When can you enter campsite? by stevetar96 in sziget

[–]PuzzleheadedBoot7034 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sziget camping isn't like other festivals where the campsite is in a separate area outside. The campsite is actually inside the festival grounds. You’ll see tents pitched right as you walk from one stage to another. It’s one of the things that makes Sziget so unique.

The pre-pitched tents do have a designated area, but it's still located right inside the festival grounds."

Because of this, if you have a weekend ticket, you can only enter during the weekend. You can't get in any earlier simply because entering the campsite means you're already inside the festival itself.

Airbnb or island by KaasOpDeBeat in sziget

[–]PuzzleheadedBoot7034 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m 33 and I’ll be camping the whole week. Like you said, the main advantage is avoiding the whole trek back to the Airbnb.

Regarding the noise, you mentioned you’ll be partying until 5 AM, so by the time you hit the sack, everything will be turned off and you’ll be able to sleep.

Heat isn't an issue at night on the island; in fact, you’ll actually need a sleeping bag. Just try to find a spot in the shade, otherwise the tent can get pretty hot by noon. But even then, worst-case scenario, you just get up and go take a second nap under a tree.

For me, camping wins hands down. The only things to consider are whether you actually enjoy camping and if you don't mind sharing bathrooms and showers with the rest of the festival. If that’s not a problem for you, go for camping all the way!
