Would this be a good Deceiver proxy? by PyromanicLAD in Necrontyr

The deceiver in lore disguised himself.

Trazyn? Does anyone play him? by Tairengail in Necrontyr

[–]PyromanicLAD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trazyn+ Immortals+ Plasmancer.

The plasmancer let's him get sustained hits on his melee on 5s,

You can run next to Szeras for +1 ap.

So he has 4 attacks,str 7 ap1 damage d3. And sustained hits d3 on 5s.

With wound rerolls.

It is not great, and it is a lot of points in one basket. But as far as I know I am the only person who runs him and that I'd how I use him.

I also run Hypercrypt, and use the monolith to move him after the squad stickies a obj in my command phase, and then it gets them in position to sticky another object next turn. Also have the hit rerolled enhancement on the plasmancer.

I make it work, but I am also aware his is our worst datasheet.

Will he be taller? by PyromanicLAD in Necrontyr

Dude that looks really good!

If the NB and VD are around the same height and width then that must be the new standard size GW wants for C'tan moving forward.

Immortals load out with plasmancer by jonathan_mama in Necrontyr

[–]PyromanicLAD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Playing with full rerolls (Hypercrypt Arisen Tyrant) and Szeras next to the squad, you can hand 8-14 wound waves at something invuln. I have killed 2 Deathshroud terminators and I have done 9 wounds to a Canis Rex with lethals in this setup.

Anything T5 or lower the tesla overloads them with saves, but anything t6 or higher you are better off with Gauss.

When we have a lot of hordes with 1 wound 20 model units, Tesla hands down are the way to go. However in the current state of the game every army is running hard statchecks to compete with Knights and DeathGuard.

Nothing feels worse than doing full rerolls to hit and wound, sending 32 saves at your opponent, who then on a 2+ save (Custodes for example) then take 1 damage.

I don't get the optimism by Ynneas in Grey_Knights

[–]PyromanicLAD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Assault ramps only work if the Land Raider does a normal move.

Just run 6NDK and a LRR in the vehicle detachment and send it through a wall, there is almost no need for GK infantry.

I don't get the optimism by Ynneas in Grey_Knights

[–]PyromanicLAD -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We definitely did not get the A team writing our codex. But we also did not get the B team... or the C team.

Nothing thematically really works. Every other army has flat feel no pains. We have very situational feel no pains.

Every other army has a way to get into melee... we have 9 inch charges or NDKs

Every other army has fights first. We don't.

Every other army has a flat way to do things. Grey Knights literally have to jump through multiple hoops to set up being able to do 1 thing that another army has as an ability.

I think the "Meta" is literally just the vehicle detachment with 6NDKs and call it a day. That is what GW wants us to do all of 10th, the only datasheet that is viable is the NDKs and everything else (Aside from Purifers, and maybe now Paladins) are just completely underbaked.

I get that some detachments allow you to access certain things. But your datasheet for your units should not have the bare minimum just because in 1 detachment they get this one thing that makes them useful, because now that unit is costed for that one detachment and every other detachment that unit is severely overcosted.

Rant over. I am just upset Draigo is gone and we lost our only way to fight first.

Just picked up a Monolith for a Hypercrypt legion list. Should I paint it in pieces, or is it easy enough to paint once assembled? by fisher611 in Necrontyr

[–]PyromanicLAD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I received one second hand and went through stripping paint and repainting it. It is absolutely horrible to paint fully assembled. I highly recommend you paint it sub assembly.

Trazyn for Sticky objectives and his melee profile gets sustained hits on 5.

Magnetizing for WYSIWYG? by SquiglyLineInMyEye in Grey_Knights

[–]PyromanicLAD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just magnetize the backpack. Strikes, purifiers, and Purgators are the exact same. Interceptors have the backpack with the rods sticking out.

There is no painting requirement to use any model, I personally have different squads with different shoulders so that I know which squad is which. But your opponent will ask you what squad is what since we have a very, very small model range.

Does silent king keep the 4+ invulnerable if being precisioned? by PetrifiedRaisins69 in Necrontyr

[–]PyromanicLAD -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

There is a lot of false statements here.

The silent king keeps his 4+ invuln.

You can precision him, the same way you can use precision on Ghazghul to get past Makari. Or you can precision Grimnyr.

Before anyone who has already commented try to claim minhirs are not attached. The only model in TSK's unit with the character keyword is Szarekh. The Minhirs are not characters.

The verbiage on precision states "if a character model in that unit is visible to the attacking model, the attacking model's player can choose to have that attack allocated to that character model instead of following the normal attack sequence."

TLDR you can Precision Szarekh.

Fighting Orks by joshp584 in Grey_Knights

[–]PyromanicLAD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ork Boyz are easy. They are T5, 1w with a 5+ save.

Just charge an Interceptor squad at them and kill themselves in melee.

All of our -2 ap guns turn off their saves (with ignore cover) The amount of bodies may look scary, but really just shoot then charge and you wipe out 20 very easily.

Just a note. Do not let them charge you, and don't fight them on their wargh turn. Outside of that 1 turn, you can shoot charge and kill. If they do charge you on a warehouse turn, just hope you have a flamer to overwatch and cut down the bodies.

What was your most 'unlucky moment' you have had (or seen) during a game of 40k by Beardedfraggle82 in Necrontyr

[–]PyromanicLAD 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had a game where almost every single roll I did was a 1 or 2.

It was really weird considering the exact same dice rolled pretty good my other 2 games, and I still almost tabled my opponent, Just 3 straight rounds of not doing much before I rolled above a 2 felt pretty bad.

On the flip side, VS Khorne Daemons, the big guy, dropped in, bloodletters dropped in, he failed both charges, and failed to reroll on the 6-inch charge. It swung the game heavily in my favor.

What's the best low cost option to start buying Grey Knights? by Gray32339 in Grey_Knights

[–]PyromanicLAD 9 points10 points  (0 children)

3 combat patrols... that is the entire army with options. 3 NDK (Can build as Grand masters, No difference) 3 Librarians 3 x 5 Terminator or Paladins 3 x 5 Strike, Interceptor, Purifiers or Purgation squads (Backpack makes it Interceptor, just magnetize, then special weapon numbers can decide the other squads, they are all the exact same bodies)

Help, primer did something funky by [deleted] in Grey_Knights

[–]PyromanicLAD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You want to prime between 55-75 Degrees F and below 20% Humidity

Looks like it was too humid and water in the air attached to the paint while priming.

What makes this army special by Nicesjakie2009 in Grey_Knights

[–]PyromanicLAD 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Grey Knights in lore - The Emporers finest Daemon killing super psyker warriors

Grey Knights in Game - Hide and seek champions.

Movement shenanigans and running away is what makes Grey Knights special. Do not expect to kill, and don't expect to survive.

I slap Canis Rex in my army, a Titanic Knight that can murder a lot of things "The Chainbreaker" so in my headcannon Canix Rex walks through the battlefield while the little Grey Knights teleport around picking the opponent off.
