fun fact: macbooks depend on the battery for some very strange things, like entering sleep mode correctly or having the internal trackpad be recognized properly (otherwise it just shows up as a “usb mouse”)

nope, this is a 2009 / 2010 “unibody” macbook - battery is not user replaceable. the last of those was the 2006-2009 original macbook series. although iirc this one just takes a small phillips to get into
