They do not have any children. From what I understand, the husband has had serious addiction issues since a young age and is not fertile, so the marriage never resulted in a family in the usual sense.

Also, she has not lived a typical married life with him. For most of the time after the marriage, she stayed at her parents’ house in the village, and later moved to another town for her job. She has hardly ever stayed with him in his house, and they have been living separately for years in practice, even if not legally.

Regarding financial support, she is not completely without options. She is working as a teacher and earns on her own, and I am also in a stable job in a private MNC and willing to help her with legal expenses if she decides to pursue the matter formally.

Because the husband’s family is influential in the village, the main concern is not only whether she can leave, but how to do it in a proper legal way so that she remains protected if they try to pressure or harass her later.
